Death Stranding 2's super-fast load times have left fans in disbelief: ‘Don't blink or you'll miss it'
Hideo Kojima's latest epic, Death Stranding: 2 On the Beach, has fans talking, but not just about its stunning visuals or haunting narrative. What is really catching attention? The virtually non-existent load times. According to the IGN report, since the game's early access dropped on June 24, players have been flooding social media with clips showing just how unbelievably fast the game loads – so fast, in fact, that many say it feels supernatural. A still from Death Stranding 2: On The Beach trailer(X) Pressing 'Continue' from the main menu produces just a blink of a black screen before players are dropped into protagonist Sam Porter Bridges' world. According to the report, even reloading from within the game is near-instant. Although Death Stranding 2 is packed with sprawling environments, rich details and breathtaking visuals, especially in its post-apocalyptic take on Australia, the load times defy expectations even for a PS5 title. A viral post on X (formerly Twitter) captured the gamers' sentiment perfectly. The user, who goes by the name Kami, wrote, 'Death Stranding 2 has the fastest loading time I've EVER seen in a video game. Don't blink or you'll miss it. It's literally instant.' Another user claimed Kojima was a 'genuine wizard.' A third user noted, 'Either everyone else is not so secretly terrible at their job or Kojima Productions is making deals with spirits and demons.' A fourth user noted, 'The 'Kojima finally made the first PS5 game' joke is actually real.' A new standard in gaming load times? While Death Stranding 2 has been getting a lot of attention lately, it is joining a group of next-gen games that are really cutting down on load times. Fans are drawing comparisons to Marvel's Spider-Man 2, where you can zip around the city in no time. Over on Xbox, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has also impressed players with how fast it starts up. The menu is practically the game itself, since it loads your save file in the background right away. The debate over which game handles this better is still ongoing, but it's clear: loading screens are fading fast. FAQs: 1. How fast are Death Stranding 2's load times really? Most players report under one second of black screen before re-entering gameplay. Some say it's so fast, you could "blink and miss it." 2. What platform is Death Stranding 2 available on? It's currently available on PlayStation 5, with PC versions expected in the future. 3. Is there an explanation for the fast load times? Kojima Productions has not revealed the exact tech behind it, but speculation points to clever background loading and high optimization for PS5's SSD. 4. Is Death Stranding 2 the only game with this kind of speed? No, but it's among the fastest. Spider-Man 2 and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also have near-instant transitions. 5. Was Nintendo involved in Death Stranding 2? Yes, Nintendo is credited in the game, though Kojima Productions hasn't clarified the extent of their contribution.

Denis Villeneuve to direct next James Bond film for Amazon | Credit: X/IGN The new face behind Bond's comeback Villeneuve's Bond dreams go way back. According to insiders, he grew up watching the suave superspy with his dad, starting from Sean Connery's Dr. No. He sees Bond as sacred ground and wants to honour the legacy while pushing the franchise into its next era of international intrigue and theatrical badassery. Jonathan Bailey as Bond? Not so fast… While there is no official 007 yet, Bridgerton heartthrob Jonathan Bailey's name has been floating around like a martini garnish. But apparently, the actor is still on the fence. Rumour has it he is unsure about taking on the iconic tux, and the insane expectations that come with it. Still, fans are already envisioning a horseback Bond moment, given Bailey's emotional attachment to his horse, Jack, from Bridgerton. Not even kidding. Jonathan Bailey as Bond? Not so fast… | Credit: Netflix Big studio, bigger stakes This film marks a major milestone for Amazon MGM Studios after its $8.5 billion MGM acquisition. With complete creative control of the franchise, and not only Bailey, the studio is also banking on Cillian Murphy, and many others to revive 007 post-Daniel Craig. And honestly? The timing could not be better. The last Bond outing, No Time to Die, dropped in 2021, and fans have been parched for a refill. Who do you think will make a good James Bond? Villeneuve is currently busy wrapping up Dune 3, but producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman say this Bond film is his dream project. The director is also juggling massive titles like Cleopatra and Nuclear War: A Scenario, but has made space for 007 because, well, it is James freaking Bond. From Sandworms to Spycraft Known for crafting visually stunning, emotionally intense worlds, Villeneuve is not expected to play it safe. Amazon executives are hyped, calling him one of today's greatest filmmakers. Translation: expect poetic dialogue, slick suits, and maybe even a Bond villain who could survive Arrakis. MindsEye developer announce layoffs after game was critically panned
Build A Rocket Boy, the developer behind MindsEye, has confirmed reports of layoffs less than a month after the troubled release of its debut title. The company, which has yet to comment further, acknowledged the staffing reductions in a statement to IGN, calling the decision a difficult one. The studio has not disclosed the exact number of employees affected by the layoffs, but reports suggest that around 100 of the company's 500 employees could be impacted. MindsEye, a futuristic, single-player narrative action game, was designed as the first entry in an expansive interconnected universe, with high expectations surrounding its release. The title was developed by Leslie Benzies, the former Rockstar Games producer known for his work on the Grand Theft Auto series. MindsEye developers Break a Rocket Boy have reportedly already began laying off over a hundred staff after a disastrous launch. This game has really been a rollercoaster to watch, a Concord level failure that'll probably result in the closure of BARB soon. What a mess. — Synth Potato🥔 (@SynthPotato) June 23, 2025 However, the launch of MindsEye was far from smooth. The game faced widespread criticism for its performance issues, glitches, and poor reviews. In addition to negative feedback from critics, sponsored streams for the game were abruptly cancelled just before they were set to go live, further denting its reputation. Despite initial optimism, including a roadmap for future content and multiplayer elements, MindsEye failed to deliver on its ambitious promises, leaving Build A Rocket Boy to manage the fallout. In its statement, Build A Rocket Boy expressed its commitment to transparency and fairness during the process and promised to explore reassigning roles for affected staff where possible. The company also stressed that it would continue working on MindsEye, despite the challenges ahead. As MindsEye navigates a difficult post-launch period, the studio faces an uphill battle. In a gaming landscape dominated by established titles like Fortnite and Roblox, new entries must contend with long-standing "forever games" that continually evolve and attract dedicated player bases. The future of MindsEye and its interconnected universe remains uncertain as Build A Rocket Boy works to recover from the initial setback.

Death Stranding 2 storyline reportedly leaked ahead of June 26 launch
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach's first hour of gameplay has reportedly been leaked online just days ahead of its launch. According to a report by EuroGamer, a creator on YouTube has uploaded the first hour of the gameplay on June 22 and wrote: "First part of Death Stranding [2] before everyone else." The video now stands removed following a copyright claim by MarkScan Enforcement, a company that protects intellectual property IP rights, particularly against online piracy and counterfeiting. It is unclear how the YouTuber got access to the game even before the early access began for consumers who pre-ordered the digital deluxe edition. However, within five minutes of the video, a pop-up reportedly appeared inviting the player to apply a new update, suggesting that the person somehow got access through a physical copy offline. According to a report by IGN, Hideo Kojima, Japanese video game designer and the person behind the development of 'Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,' recently shared that he overhauled large sections of Death Stranding 2 mid-development. According to him, early play tests were 'too positive,' prompting concern that the game might become too mainstream. Kojima also acknowledged that he came close to scrapping the project entirely because of several challenges during its development, as reported by IGN. For the unaware, the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is likely to pick up the mantle approximately 11 months after form where its prequel Death Stranding left it. What is Death Stranding all about Death Stranding presents a unique spin on the post-apocalyptic genre. Instead of destruction by zombies, war, or natural disaster, the world is upended by a mysterious event known as the 'Death Stranding.' This triggers the arrival of ghost-like entities called 'Beached Things' (BTs) in the living world. Their presence causes devastating 'voidouts'—explosions that erase everything in their path and leave massive craters behind. In the wake of this event, the world transforms in strange and dangerous ways. A new particle, chiralium, begins to spread, and rain becomes 'timefall,' which rapidly ages anything it touches. With BTs often appearing during these storms, what's left of humanity retreats into isolated, underground cities. In this disconnected world, Porters—brave individuals who travel across hazardous terrain—become vital for delivering supplies and keeping communities linked. The story centres on Sam Bridges, a porter working for a company called BRIDGES. More than just a courier, Sam is responsible for re-establishing a communications system known as the Chiral Network across scattered cities called KNOTs. His journey involves not just reconnecting people, but restoring a sense of unity in a broken society. In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Sam returns for another mission—this time, to reconnect Australia and build a new network to prevent another extinction-level threat, just as he helped save the United States in the first game.
