JFK's secret love life revealed: The tale of Joan Lundberg, who was 'impregnated' by former US president

A new biography has claimed that former US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy had an affair with a flight attendant while he was married to Jackie. Photo by John F Kennedy Library Foundation / AFP An upcoming book has made sensational claims about former United States President John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK). The new biography, JFK: Public, Private, Secret by J Randy Taraborrelli, has claimed that the Democrat leader got a young flight attendant pregnant while he was married to Jacqueline Kennedy, better known as Jackie. The stunning claim has brought the personal life of the 35th president of the US to the spotlight. According to the book, Jackie knew about her husband's affair but did not know about his lover's pregnancy. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Let's take a closer look. JFK sparks affair with flight attendant John Kennedy met Joan Lundberg, a young flight attendant, in August 1956 in California. She was working for Frontier Airlines and as a cocktail waitress, according to the biography by Taraborrelli. JFK, a 39-year-old senator from Massachusetts , asked Joan at a dive bar what she was going to play on the jukebox, according to an excerpt from the book, shared with People magazine. ''What are you gonna play?' he asked her. 'I was thinking Elvis Presley, but what would you like to hear?' she asked. He said he wanted to hear something 'so I can concentrate on you.'' When JFK asked Joan, a 23-year-old single mother of two, where she was living, the woman replied, 'trailer court close by'. ''What the hell's a trailer court?' he asked. She laughed and answered, 'You don't want to know.'' Days after meeting Joan, JFK discovered that his wife, Jackie, had given birth to their stillborn daughter, Arabella. JFK was back in Los Angeles (LA) in early September and invited Joan to a dinner party at his sister's home. Around midnight, he took the flight attendant to a motor court where they checked in as 'Mr and Mrs Robert Thompson.' ''The sex that night was 'wild,' claimed Joan. The next morning over breakfast, he unburdened himself. His fears, his insecurities. It was as if she was so removed from his circle, he could share anything,'' People cited the excerpt as saying. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD JFK described his relationship with Jackie as 'an arranged marriage', saying it was 'fine. Not great, but okay.' File Photo/Reuters/John F Kennedy Presidential Library As per the biography, Jackie questioned JFK about 'Trailer Park Joan' when he returned to her in Newport, where she was recuperating at Hammersmith Farm. JFK continued his affair with Joan even after his wife found out. He used to fly her to meet him and covered her expenses. By 1957, JFK was being considered a presidential candidate. Taraborrelli's book also carries excerpts from Joan's unpublished memoir, which her family shared with him. ''She told me, 'I never worry about trouble when I'm with Jack because I pass for his sister, Pat, all the time,' ' Joan's sister, Linda Lydon, said. Joan later recalled that she and Jack got along well, 'aside from normal lovers' tiffs between two high-spirited people.' They often discussed his political career, with him starting off sentences with, 'When I'm president . . .'' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD JFK gets Joan Lundberg pregnant Two years after they first met, Joan called JFK to tell him about her pregnancy. The news came just months after the birth of Kennedys' daughter, Caroline. 'Joan would recall that her news about the baby was 'like a knife to Jack's heart.' While it was a shock, Joan wrote that they shouldn't have been so surprised: 'I didn't like wearing a diaphragm, and Jack wouldn't wear a rubber,'' she wrote. 'Jack couldn't help but wonder if Joan had purposely planned the pregnancy given that she'd seen his devotion to Jackie after Caroline's birth. He also wondered if he was really the father, and Joan assured him he was. When he asked her how she felt about the pregnancy, she said she loved the two children she was raising on her own and knew she'd also love any child she and Jack brought into the world. He didn't know how to respond,' the excerpt stated. Later, during a phone call, JFK told Joan he would mail her $400, telling her, 'you'll know what to do' — an apparent reference to an abortion. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD ''Being a politician is who I am,' he told her. 'Politics is all I know. If you take that away . . .' His voice trailed off. Before she could respond, he disconnected the line,'' as per the excerpt from JFK: Public, Private, Secret. When she got the envelope a week later, it reportedly contained no money. The biography mentioned this made JFK 'positively unhinged'. 'Joan later wrote: 'My God! You had never heard anybody use expletives so much in the whole history of Washington.' Jack was very clear; he didn't want Joan to have the baby. He wired more money that same day, and she took care of things a day after that. She was angry and disappointed, but also realistic.' 'When Jack called Joan to check on her, she told him, 'I'm going to need to put some distance between us.' He understood. 'I owe you so much,' he told her. 'One thing I want to say to you, Kennedy,' she told him. 'You love Caroline, and I know that, but I'm somebody's daughter, too. Remember that the next time you treat a woman the way you've treated me.'' STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD As per the book, Jackie never came to know about Joan's abortion. Taraborrelli told People that Joan was 'a big revelation' to him, saying she acted as the former US president's 'therapist in many ways.' With inputs from agencies

John F Kennedy's historic Wexford visit is marked by vintage car run in New Ross

Gathering opposite the Dunbrody Famine Ship, the JFK Car Meet and Run left the town and headed for the JFK Arboretum, crossing the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge, and upon its return to the quay, passed the JFK statue. The lead car on the run was the distinctive and iconic red Ford Mustang with its V8 engine, probably the best known car to feature in any film for the remarkable Steve McQueen street chase through San Francisco in the 1968 classic film, Bullitt. The New Ross event attracted over 70 cars of all makes from the 1950's to the more modern cars of the 2000's, despite being a late event added to a crowded calendar and clashing with a well established show in south Dublin, and also up against the national favourite, the Donegal Rally, which is a must for all car enthusiasts. However, the organisers of the event said they were grateful for the support they received for the New Ross event in their efforts to attract people to the town and enjoy what it has to offer, especially on a summer's day like so. Throughout the day, people also wandered the streets as their curiosity led them to seek out the newly renovated Brennan's Lane, The High Hill Garden, the many murals around the streets, and some families strolled from the car meet down along the banks of the River Barrow past the award-winning Emigrant Park and joined in with the Family Fun Day in Pearse Park held by Wexford Sports Active, which was also a hive of activity on the day. Meanwhile, visitors of the Dunbrody Famine Ship and The Ros Tapestry afterwards made their way towards the car meet. John Dimond, of Wexford Sports and Classic Car Club commented on the event and said: 'The support from the visitors was great to see, but more events are needed to attract tourists and locals and on the back of this, the club will look at running similar events in the future.' The Wexford Sports and Classic Car Club has thanked those who sponsored prizes and the Dunbrody Centre for providing their facilities, with the 'most appreciated part of the day the Butchers Best sponsored BBQ burger to finish off the days events.' It's expected the JFK Car Meet and Run will made a donation from the funds raised to the New Ross Meals on Wheels in the near future. The Meals on Wheels is currently preparing for it's golf competition on July 21 and the organisation is appealing for sponsorship of tees and greens at €100 for each. The Meals on Wheels provides over 20,000 meals delivered to the homes of vulnerable people throughout the year and the delivery of the meals allows many of the recipients to remain in independent living in their homes. By supporting the golf competition, it will contribute hugely to the continuation of the service. Enquiries regarding the Meals on Wheels can be made at the Sr. Aidan Centre, Cross Street or by contacting 051 445711 between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday to Friday.

New JFK book reveals he got flight attendant Joan Lundberg pregnant during affair

Former president John F Kennedy once got a flight attendant pregnant during an affair, then paid for an abortion without the knowledge of his wife Jackie, a new book has claimed. Kennedy first met Joan Lundberg in 1956 in California, when she worked for Frontier Airlines and as a cocktail waitress, according to a new tell-all biography by J. Randy Taraborrelli. At the time the former president was a 39-year-old married U.S senator and Lundberg was 23, Taraborrelli writes. In August that year, Kennedy's wife Jackie experienced a stillbirth of their daughter Arabella. Two years later – and shortly after the birth of the Kennedys' daughter Caroline – Lundberg called JFK to share her own pregnancy news, according to an exclusive excerpt of the upcoming book JFK: Public, Private, Secret, shared with People. 'Joan would recall that her news about the baby was 'like a knife to Jack's heart,' reads the excerpt. 'While it was a shock, Joan wrote that they shouldn't have been so surprised: 'I didn't like wearing a diaphragm, and Jack wouldn't wear a rubber,'' she wrote. 'Jack couldn't help but wonder if Joan had purposely planned the pregnancy given that she'd seen his devotion to Jackie after Caroline's birth. He also wondered if he was really the father, and Joan assured him he was.' Taraborrelli's book also uses excerpts from Lundberg's own, unpublished memoir, which she had shared with her family. After their phone call revelation, Kennedy then told Lundberg he would mail her $400, telling her 'you'll know what to do' – in apparent reference to getting an abortion. ''Being a politician is who I am,' he told her. 'Politics is all I know. If you take that away . . .' His voice trailed off. Before she could respond, he disconnected the line,' the excerpt states. When the envelope arrived one week later, it reportedly contained no money. According to the biography, when JFK learned this he became 'positively unhinged.' He wired more money and Lundberg 'took care of things' a day later. 'Jack was very clear; he didn't want Joan to have the baby… She was angry and disappointed, but also realistic,' Taraborrelli writes. Speaking to People, Tarraborrelli said he wanted 'not to defend JFK' but to 'explain him.' He added that Lundberg was 'a big revelation' to him, describing her as having acted as the former president's 'therapist in many ways.'

MTG suggests link between JFK's assassination and opposition to Israel's ‘nuclear program'

Firebrand Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene sparked renewed controversy Tuesday after insinuating that former President John F. Kennedy was assassinated because he opposed Israel's nuclear ambitions. 'There was once a great President that the American people loved. He opposed Israel's nuclear program. And then he was assassinated,' the MAGA Georgia congresswoman posted on X, defending her criticism of President Donald Trump's Iran nuclear sites strike. 'I'm not going away. You're on my radar,' Levin wrote. 'This is extremely sick and disturbing,' Greene said in her post before accusing Levin of using the same tone and language as the 'psychopaths' who allegedly send her daily death threats. She went on to discuss Jesus and his teachings, including to 'pray for your enemies.' 'I will do my best to pray for you. But I will be watchful now,' Greene wrote before shifting to the Kennedy theory. 'I am for peace. I oppose war, including wars Israel wages. Should I feel that my life is in danger now too? What about President Trump who strongly rebuked Israel this morning for continuing to attack Iran?' Greene's post comes just days after the US military struck Iran's nuclear sites in retaliation for escalating regional tensions, which she criticized as a 'bait and switch.' Although US intelligence says these strikes caused only temporary disruption, delays of a few months, rather than total destruction of Iran's program, Greene pointed to the timing of JFK's opposition to Israel as suspicious. Critics argue that framing Kennedy's assassination in this context is not only historically unfounded but also potentially antisemitic, playing into age‑old tropes concerning Jewish influence. Greene has yet to respond to those accusations or clarify how her assertion aligns with established historical records. Greene has promoted antisemitic conspiracy theories before, including a 2018 claim that Rothschild-funded space lasers may have caused California wildfires.

JFK AirTrain Fare Slashed In Half For Summer Travelers

Starting in late June, the JFK AirTrain will offer a 50% discount on its fares in an effort to entice new passengers and reduce traffic congestion in New York City. Getty Images There has been mixed reporting about the summer travel season. Some destinations say it's going to be a bust, while others say it's going to be busy. In some reports, experts say that airline fares will be cheaper than usual. In others, different experts insist that airline fares will be higher than normal. In this way, travel media and its reporting can be confusing, if not contradictory. But, one thing is for sure for New Yorkers: Regardless of what happens to airline fares, getting to the airport will be cheaper this summer—half the price, in fact. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey recently announced that the fare on the AirTrain will decrease 50% this summer, from $8.50 to $4.25 per ride. The new, half-price fare will be available from both the Jamaica and Howard Beach Stations from June 30 through September 1st. The reason for the discount is to combat growing traffic issues in and around New York City. According to reports, the Port Authority is hoping that the reduced fare might entice more New Yorkers (and visitors) to take the AirTrain to and from JFK instead of driving or using a rideshare. Many New Yorkers forgo taking the AirTrain because they see it as inconvenient, and also not exactly cheap. For example, since the AirTrain doesn't go directly to JFK from Manhattan or Long Island, people must first take the subway or Long Island Rail Road and then transfer to the AirTrain. This can take time and patience, especially in rush hour, with luggage in tow. It can also turn out to cost more than you might expect. The first subway or LIRR segment can cost between $2.90 and $5.00, with the AirTrain then costing an additional $8.50. It's not hard to imagine scenarios where a family of four or a group of friends could justify sharing an Uber when they would have to pay $10-$14 each for a multiple-train journey dragging their luggage behind them. Will It Work? Will saving $4.50 move the needle? It depends on your situation and the number of people in your party, of course. Perhaps those who live closer to the AirTrain hubs will be more likely to take advantage. Ultimately, whether or not the temporary fare decrease will be enough to convert and capture new users for the AirTrain and noticeably reduce New York City traffic remains to be seen. But, those who already planned on using the AirTrain to get to and from JFK will surely take the discount.
