The deluge of faster Qi2.2 wireless chargers is here

Yesterday Ugreen was the first company to announce it had a Qi2.2 wireless charging power bank on the way, but it wasn't alone for long. The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has already certified eight Qi2.2 products, all from different manufacturers, including power banks, car mounts, and 3-in-1 stands. Qi2.2 is the latest version of the Qi wireless charging standard. Qi2 was notable for introducing a magnetic ring to the design, helped by contributions to the standard from Apple based on its MagSafe charging tech. Qi2.2 makes the jump to 25W charging speeds, an improvement on Qi2's 15W cap. While the WPC lists Qi2.2 as having been introduced in April 2025, no products using the standard have launched yet. That's set to change soon, with eight products now listed in the WPC's product database with the latest Qi2.2.1 standard, all certified on July 15th. Some of these have been officially announced, including Ugreen's 10,000mAh MagFlow power bank. Baseus received certification for one power bank but says it has another on the way, along with a 3-in-1 charging stand. Belkin only announced that it will roll out 'several' Qi2.2 products in the coming months, though its certification is for the UltraCharge Pro 3-in-1 charging dock. Other certified companies haven't yet made announcements. Anker is apparently set to expand its Prime series with a 3-in-1 Qi2.2 dock including a built-in display to monitor charging speeds, Aukey has a simple 2-in-1 charging stand on the way, and Scosche is readying a Qi2.2 version of its MagicMount Pro car mount. ODMs CVSMicro and BH EVS round out the set of eight with charging components to build into other products. Last month we reported that Apple appears to be working on a new MagSafe charger with Qi2.2 compatibility. Despite contributing to the Qi standard, Apple appears happy to keep MagSafe one step ahead, with that charger set to deliver 45W wireless charging speeds. The current iPhone 16 series caps at 25W wireless MagSafe charging, suggesting at least some iPhone 17 models will be getting a boost. Qi2 was a welcome introduction, but adoption among phone manufacturers has been slow — while Apple includes Qi2 support on all current iPhones except the 16E, the HMD Skyline remains the only Android phone worldwide with full Qi2. Others, like the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, are 'Qi2 Ready,' meaning they require a magnetic Qi2 phone case for full functionality. Hopefully Qi2.2's arrival encourages more manufacturers to jump on board.

Zack Snyder and Super Evil Megacorp team up for 'Rebel Moon' video game on Netflix

From cinematic spectacle to mobile mayhem, Zack Snyder's sci-fi epic expands in a bold new direction with the new Netflix game Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game. Developed by the award-winning studio Super Evil Megacorp and launching exclusively for Netflix subscribers on July 15, the top-down co-op shooter offers a fresh rebellion, new characters, and a combat-rich evolution of the Rebel Moon universe. And if you ask Snyder, it's everything he's ever wanted. 'I've been playing it nonstop ever since I got it,' Snyder said in a special video message at a virtual roundtable ahead of the game's release. 'It allowed me to expand the Rebel Moon universe in a way I didn't believe possible. I've been really astonished to see it in game form. It's so cool.' About the game Set after the events of Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, Blood Line introduces an original story centred on a new band of rebel recruits rising up against the tyrannical Imperium. While the world may look familiar to fans of Snyder's space opera, the protagonists are anything but. The game's narrative digs into the Krypteia, a brutal faction introduced in the films as the Imperium's elite enforcers. But this time, the spotlight shifts. 'When [Super Evil Megacorp] approached me, they were like, 'What about the Krypteia warriors? Maybe we use them as the main characters,'' Snyder recalled. 'And I was like, well, how do we do that? They're the bad guys! But through a series of creative back-and-forth, we came up with this really cool idea… What if a rift formed between the Krypteia and the Imperium after a thousand years of alignment? What if that exploded into a planet-wide rebellion?' This backstory sets the stage for a high-stakes campaign across the planet Krypt, where players will fight through biomes ranging from frozen prison camps and scorched deserts to lush, mountainous strongholds. At its core, Blood Line is a top-down, action RPG shooter that blends lightning-fast combat with robust progression systems. Think Diablo meets Helldivers, but designed for mobile devices with console-quality polish. 'It's a Zack Snyder film,' said Game Director Robert Gallerani, 'so we need things blowing up and explosions happening everywhere. That always lends itself really well to a combat-centric game.' Players choose from four distinct classes: Bannerguard: Tank-like warriors who draw enemy fire. Evoker: Supportive healers with tactical range. Kindred: Agile ranged assassins. Forsaken: Melee stealth specialists. Each class comes with its own skillset, progression tree, and motivations for joining the rebellion, ensuring players not only fight differently, but think differently too. Whether going solo or teaming up with friends in 5-player online co-op, strategy and synergy are key. The developers promise deep replayability, mission variety, and an evolving endgame with ambitious challenges. 'There's some really interesting, deep content for people to aspire to,' said Executive Producer Sam Hart. 'It's the kind of thing where you grow in power and finally overcome something, and it just feels really good.' Built for mobile The game is launching exclusively through Netflix Games, meaning it's free for all subscribers with no ads, microtransactions, or hidden costs. 'We started developing the game as the films were still getting made,' Hart explained. 'We loved the themes around found family, and the contrast between the stark Imperium aesthetic and the homegrown rebellion. We worked a lot of that through the game, while still finding our own tone that shines on mobile.' But just because it's built for phones doesn't mean it's pulling any punches. The visual fidelity rivals console shooters, with dynamic lighting, cinematic effects, and environmental storytelling baked into every level. There's also room for player creativity. One of the game's hidden mechanics allows players to pick up explosive barrels and place them tactically, a feature the developers debated keeping secret. 'We weren't sure whether to teach players this or let them discover it,' Gallerani said. 'Eventually, someone figures it out and starts laying ambushes — like collecting all the barrels and building traps.' Blood Line is a deeper dive into a universe that continues to evolve. The first two films introduced us to the oppressive Motherworld and the heroes who rose against it, and the game is an expansion of the universe of sorts. And if the fan reception holds strong, Blood Line could mark the beginning of a broader Rebel Moon multiverse. 'You fans have inspired me at every turn,' Snyder said in the video. 'Mix up your strategy, mix up your build. It's not always about numbers getting bigger, sometimes the options you have should change.' Blood Line: A Rebel Moon Game is available starting July 15, exclusively on the Netflix mobile app.

The name of victory is Turkiye — Remembering July 15

The name of victory is Turkiye — Remembering July 15 By Tuba Nur Sonmez Nine years ago, on the night of July 15, 2016, the people of Türkiye witnessed a betrayal that tested not only the strength of their institutions but the very soul of their nation. It was a night when tanks blocked roads, helicopters rained bullets on civilians, and the Parliament was bombed by heinous elements from within the military. But it was also a night that gave birth to one of the most extraordinary moments of collective courage and unity in modern Turkish history. The attempted coup was orchestrated by members of the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETO), a clandestine network that had operated for decades under the guise of religious devotion and educational service. Led by Fetullah Gulen, a cleric residing in the United States, FETO systematically infiltrated key institutions of the Turkish state—including the military, judiciary, police, and civil service—through unlawful methods such as exam fraud, blackmail, and covert loyalty structures. Exploiting the trust of devout citizens, the organization disguised itself as a benevolent religious movement, gaining influence particularly among youth through schools, exam preparation centers, societal meetings, and various other mechanisms. Behind this outward image, however, lay a sinister agenda. But on the night of July 15, their intentions and ambitions were buried by the people's will. What occurred on July 15 was not just a military mutiny. It was a carefully planned internal assault on the democratic order, executed with precision and malice. Fighter jets bombed strategic buildings in Ankara. Armed soldiers opened fire on civilians standing in protest. An attempt was made to assassinate the President. Media outlets were raided to silence free press. The aim was clear: to replace the rule of law with the rule of a cult. To this day, many in Turkiye—especially in Ankara and Istanbul—remember the sound of plotter jets overhead, recognizing it as the sound of betrayal. And yet, what was meant to paralyze the nation resulted in just the opposite. With no hesitation and with no weapons in hand, millions of ordinary citizens filled the streets in cities and towns across the country. They defied curfews and the gunfire of the usurpers. They stood in front of tanks and reclaimed their sovereignty. Across ideological and political lines, the people of Türkiye stood united in their defense of democracy. That unity became the most powerful weapon against the plotters. By morning, it was clear that the coup had failed, but at a heavy cost—252 lives lost, over 2,200 injured, buildings destroyed. Yet Türkiye did not descend into chaos. The state responded swiftly and within legal bounds. A long-overdue reckoning with FETO began, and those responsible were brought to justice. The group's networks in education, media, and finance were dismantled, while public institutions were reformed to restore transparency. Compromised security structures were restructured to align with national interests. In the years since the coup attempt, Türkiye has made significant strides in consolidating political stability, reducing foreign dependency, and adopting a more assertive and self-reliant foreign policy. The trauma of July 15 catalyzed a shift not only in governance, but also in public consciousness. Citizens today are more aware of the importance of civic responsibility, of remaining vigilant against anti-democratic threats such as this vile coup attempt. It is important for the international community to understand the nature of what transpired on that night. FETO is not merely a Turkish issue. It is a transnational threat that operates through soft power tactics—schools, NGOs, media networks—and exploits the very democratic freedoms it seeks to destroy. Just as terrorism takes many forms, so too must democratic societies be alert to non-traditional, covert threats that seek to undermine them from within. Every year on July 15, Türkiye marks Democracy and National Unity Day—a time not only to remember the lives lost, but also to reflect on the strength of its democratic will. That night reminded the nation that democracy is not merely a system of institutions, but a living commitment between state and citizen. It can be attacked, but when defended with unity and resolve, it can endure and grow stronger. The memory of that night remains vivid, not only as a moment of sorrow but as a symbol of collective courage. Ordinary people did not wait to be protected by democracy; they rose to protect it themselves. Faced with a choice between oppression and freedom, the nation chose democracy. Nine years on, Türkiye stands stronger. The spirit of July 15 is not something of the past, as long as that spirit lives, no darkness will be strong enough to cast shadows to Turkish people's will. We can say proudly that 'The Name of Victory is Türkiye.' We remember our martyrs with gratitude, and honor our veterans with pride. May Allah preserve our unity, protect our democracy, and keep our nation strong. Note: Tuba Nur Sonmez is Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to Kuwait
