Egypt, South Korea's KNOC explore petroleum investment opportunities
Arab Finance: Karim Badawi, Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Dong Sub Kim, CEO and President of the Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC), discussed available investment opportunities and possible areas of cooperation fields in the Egyptian petroleum sector, according to a statement. This meeting took place with the presence of Kim's accompanying delegation, which included Jongwean Choi, CEO of Dana Petroleum Limited, George Kozma, Country Manager of Dana Petroleum Egypt, and Changwoo Hong, General Manager of Petro Nefertiti. The talks addressed opportunities to expand investments in oil exploration and production activities. KNOC' aims to support its investment portfolio in Egypt, which includes four areas in the Gulf of Suez and the Western Desert, where it injects investments through Dana Petroleum Limited and the Petro Nefertiti joint venture company. On his part, Badawi asserted that the sector possesses the capabilities to implement major projects in accordance with the global standards. Iraq's crude exports to S. Korea surge 14.6%
Shafaq News/ Iraq ranked as the fourth-largest crude oil exporter to South Korea in February, according to Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC). KNOC highlighted the rising appeal of Iraq's Basrah Medium crude in the spot market, as its official selling prices for Sour Heavy crude remained more competitive than similar grades offered by other Gulf suppliers. Saudi Arabia retained its position as South Korea's top supplier, shipping 27.159 million barrels last month, followed by the US with 12.329 million, the UAE with 11.855 million, and Iraq with 9.65 million—up 23.6% from January's 7.808 million and 14.6% higher than February 2024's 8.419 million. Kuwait rounded out the top five with 7.678 million.

Iraq ranks 3rd among top crude suppliers to South Korea in December–KNOC
Shafaq News/ Iraq was the third-largest crude oil supplier to South Korea in December, according to data from the Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC). In a statement, KNOC reported that South Korea imported a record volume of US crude in 2024 and plans to continue sourcing barrels from North America throughout 2025 to optimize refining economics, particularly amid rising prices for Middle Eastern sour crude. Saudi Arabia remained South Korea's top supplier last month, shipping 31.664 million barrels, followed by the United States with 12.143 million barrels. Iraq ranked third with 9.319 million barrels, reflecting a 19.4% increase from October's 7.805 million barrels and an 18.2% rise from December 2023's 7.884 million barrels. The UAE followed in fourth place with 9.018 million barrels, while Kuwait ranked fifth with 5.794 million barrels.
