The Eagles (tush) push on, as the champs get back to work
PHILADELPHIA — The confetti stopped falling in New Orleans long ago. The rings have been delivered. The celebrations are done, except for perhaps one more at Lincoln Financial Field on opening night of the upcoming NFL season. The Philadelphia Eagles, Super Bowl champions for the second time in their history, have moved on. They were officially back to work Wednesday as they opened training camp at their complex in South Philadelphia, focused on the task at hand rather than on the glories of the recent past.

FIFA releases ticket information for World Cup 2026 at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field
Some of the world's best soccer players are coming to Philadelphia in 2026 for the World Cup, but getting tickets to the games won't be easy. Lincoln Financial Field in South Philadelphia is set to host six World Cup games next summer in June and July 2026. On Tuesday, FIFA announced that it will hold a lottery for tickets in several phases, with the first phase beginning on Sept. 10. Fans interested in securing a ticket to one of the many games at the Linc can register online with FIFA to be among the first to know about any updates regarding the ticket sale rollout. When registering, fans will create a FIFA ID if they don't already have one. Then on Sept. 10, fans will use their FIFA ID to apply online for the organization's first chance to buy tickets. If at first you don't succeed, don't worry, soccer fans. There will be multiple ticket phases from the start of the sales on Sept. 10, through the final World Cup match on July 19, 2026. According to FIFA, the Final Draw for the World Cup 26 will take place sometime in December. Shortly after this, teams will then be assigned to specific match schedules, venues and kick-off times. FIFA fans looking to splurge can already start scoring hospitality packages, which include match tickets, online now. The FIFA World Cup 26 kicks off on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, and the final match is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Enzo Maresca issues two-man Chelsea injury update with double blow confirmed for Club World Cup semi-final
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca says he did not want to take any risks with Reece James after being forced into a late change before the Club World Cup quarter-final win over Palmeiras. James was set to start at the Lincoln Financial Field, but withdrew from the team shortly before kick-off. Advertisement With Moises Caicedo suspended and Romeo Lavia injured, the Chelsea captain had initially been earmarked to partner Enzo Fernandez in midfield. However, his absence meant Andrey Santos was handed his first start for the Blues. Speaking after the game, the Chelsea boss delivered an update on James and Lavia ahead of next week's semi-final showdown against Fluminense. Maresca said: 'Romeo [Lavia], unfortunately, he had a small muscle problem. 'And Reece, he felt something during the warm-up. We think that it's tightness, so we prefer not to take any risk for him. And we decided to start with Andrey [Santos]. Advertisement 'I think now we are one year together. We know each other much, much better compared to one year ago. 'And with different structure, different way to play, I think the players, they are getting better and better.' Reece James was due to start against Palmeiras (AFP via Getty Images) It remains to be seen if James or Lavia will be fit to face the Brazilian side on Tuesday, but the Blues have been handed a further blow with Liam Delap and Levi Colwill ruled out through suspension. The pair were walking the disciplinary tight-rope ahead of the game and their punishment for being booked in the 45th and 86th minute respectively is a one-game ban. Though, the good news for Chelsea is Caicedo is in line for an immediate recall after serving his suspension against Palmeiras.

Eagles Controversial Stadium Move Comes Down to Two Perfectly Clear Options
Eagles Controversial Stadium Move Comes Down to Two Perfectly Clear Options originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When Lincoln Financial Field opened in 2003, Philadelphia Eagles fans met its arrival with skepticism. Advertisement For 32 years, Veterans Stadium was a unique home for the Eagles and its wildly passionate fan base. To some, to turn away from hallowed ground for a shinier (and admittedly "better'') stadium just felt wrong. Since that moment, Eagle fans have developed a love-hate relationship with "the Linc." Some people are upset over the significant price hikes for food and drinks. Others don't like the parking situation. Other fans miss the uniqueness of Veterans Stadium over Lincoln Financial Field, which has a more modern look. What was sometimes ignored then? While Eagles fans may have loved Veterans Stadium, it was not, in addition to the usual reasons for a team moving to upgraded digs, a house of success. Advertisement Lincoln Financial Field is different. The stadium has seen four trips to the Super Bowl, two victories and plenty of memorable playoff moments. Fans can be excused for embracing that. As other franchises around the league look for ways to acquire new stadiums or to make zillion-dollar upgrades to the ones they have — all in search of the additional revenue that comes with more luxury seats and a roof and the rest — the Eagles have begun to tiptoe into the controversy that will come as they imagine what life could be like without the Linc. Or with a variation of the Linc. After all, it's crazy to think, but the Linc has been around for 22 years. While that may not be the historic 32 years that the Vet had, it's still not a simple thing to walk away from. Advertisement Owners always want the shiny new toy that a new stadium could bring, but Philadelphia must be wary of that. A new stadium may not bring the kind of success that Lincoln Financial Field brought. And so it comes down to two perfectly clear options: One, find the money (public funding?) to make a move ... and make more money. Or two, stay true to what the Linc is while embracing tradition. You know which way this is going, right?
