Nothing is rumored to be working on a new type of smartphone

Vlad, 22 July 2025 Nothing has recently launched the Phone (3), billed as its first proper flagship device, but the company is now rumored to be exploring new avenues. Namely, it's said to be adding 'Lite' or 'T' branded models to its lineup, as "Pro models are just not cutting it", according to an Indian leaker over on X. We're not sure which Pro models those are - the only recent Nothing handset with that branding is the Phone (3a) Pro, a mid-ranger that's better-specced than the non-Pro Phone (3a). Looks like Nothing could be adding 'Lite' or 'T' branded phones to their lineup.. Pro models are just not cutting it.. — Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) July 22, 2025 Unfortunately, the source of this claim doesn't go into any more detail about these Nothing Lite or T phones, so we can't be sure what line the suffix would be applied to. A Nothing Phone (3) Lite? That's one thing. A Nothing Phone (3a) Lite? That's quite another. If there's actually any kernel of truth to this, then we'll undoubtedly hear more about Nothing's moves in the near future, so stay tuned for that. Leak strongly hints that a cheaper Nothing phone is on the way

C. Scott Brown / Android Authority TL;DR Nothing may be planning a new 'Lite' or 'T' branded phone. The move could extend Nothing's reach into the budget segment below the Phone 3a series. Xiaomi and OnePlus have used similar naming strategies to compete in the budget space. Nothing may be looking to broaden its smartphone range with the addition of more affordable models. The company has so far focused on flagship and mid-range devices, but that strategy could be evolving. According to reliable leaker Yogesh Brar on X, Nothing is exploring phones branded as either 'Lite' or 'T' models. He didn't share specific details, but noted that 'Pro models are just not cutting it,' suggesting the company could be considering lower-cost alternatives to keep up interest. Brar was spot on with his tip about Nothing releasing three phones in the first half of 2025, so this rumor is certainly credible. Ryan Haines / Android Authority The move would align with recent efforts by Nothing to reach a wider audience. The Phone 3a and 3a Pro, priced at $379 and $459, respectively, marked a meaningful shift toward value, offering triple-camera setups, clean software, and eye-catching designs. While we praised both phones in our review, a lack of proper carrier support made them less than ideal for US buyers. If Nothing follows through with Lite or T-branded devices, it would be in good company. Brands like Xiaomi and OnePlus have used those naming conventions for years to sell trimmed-down or refreshed phones at competitive prices. It's a formula that's been working, with Xiaomi being the fastest-growing smartphone brand last year. Nothing hasn't confirmed anything yet, and there's no indication of a timeline. But with the Phone 3a series laying the groundwork, a true Lite or T model could be the next logical step for Nothing to grab a slice of the budget market. Got a tip? Talk to us! According to the website downtime platform, DownDetector, the disruption affected nearly 1,000 users who filed reports about the same. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now As per DownDetector, the majority of affected users, 86%, cited "network issues," while 14% reported a "total blackout" of the internet service. As per the website, the outage started at 11.21 am IST and peaked with 956 users reporting issues with the service. However, the reports went down soon and were resolved around 12.36 pm IST. The highest reports were from these US cities -- Seattle, San Francisco, Phoenix, Dallas, Chicago and more. What users said about Starlink outage affecting them During the outage, one user took to the comment section on Downdetector's Starlink page to write: 'Anyone having very weird stutters in online multiplayer games?' 'I can't even play cod,' another user claimed in the comments. A third user wrote: 'Starlink works rather poorly compared to the claims.' 'I can't connect to any of my mobile games on wifi, and yesterday I could,' a fourth user added. Meanwhile, a fifth user noted: 'Who is having really slow wifi speed's for downloading games or anything else?' Starlink, a subsidiary of Elon Musk's SpaceX, provides high-speed internet through a network of satellites in Earth's orbit. Positioned 550 km above Earth, these satellites enable services like streaming, gaming, and video calls—even in rural or remote areas where cable or fibre connectivity is limited. The system relies on satellite communication with ground stations and user terminals that require a clear view of the sky. In the US, the Residential Lite plan is priced at $80 (nearly Rs 6,800) per month and offers unlimited data, though at a lower priority during peak times. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now To get started, users must purchase the standard Starlink kit with a one-time payment of $349 (nearly Rs 29,700). For those who travel often, Starlink also provides roaming plans beginning at $50 (almost Rs 4,200) for 50GB of data, along with an added cost of $299 (nearlty Rs 25,400) for the Starlink Mini Kit. Starlink down in US? Thousands of users report outages on Elon Musk's satellite internet service

United States-based users are reporting outages affecting SpaceX's Starlink service, according to outage tracking website DownDetector. At the time of writing this report, there have been around 1,000 reports of problems accessing Starlink's internet service, with 86 per cent of users citing 'network issues' and 14 per cent reporting a 'total blackout'. Starlink, a subsidiary of Elon Musk's rocket company SpaceX, operates a network of satellites in Earth's orbit that work together to provide high-speed internet. It uses a constellation of 7,000 (intended to increase to 40,000) low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites, situated 550 km above the Earth. Its LEO satellites are the world's largest and deliver broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, and video calls. Its most acclaimed use case is the ability to provide internet access in rural and underserved areas, where traditional options like cable or fibre are unreliable or unavailable. For the tech to work, Starlink's satellites communicate with ground stations and user terminals, which require an unobstructed, clear view of the sky. In the United States, the Residential Lite plan costs around $80 ( ₹ 6,800) per month and includes unlimited, albeit deprioritised, data. Customers are also required to purchase a Starlink standard kit for a one-time fee of $349 ( ₹ 29,700). The company also offers roam plans for users who travel frequently, starting at $50 ( ₹ 4,200) for 50GB of data, with an additional $299 ( ₹ 25,400) charge for the Starlink Mini Kit. 'Starlink works rather poorly compared to the claims,' wrote one user on the DownDetector comments section. 'I can't connect to any of my mobile games on wifi, and yesterday I could.' added another user. 'Starlink is only great when it is working. Then they suddenly restrict your connection, no email, no call. Ticket opened by AI, 3 days no resolution, no email, no contact centre. And they are expanding rapidly. Brace for zero customer service when there is an issue,' added yet another user.

A ton of Nintendo Switch games and accessories are on sale for Prime Day

Day three of Amazon Prime Day (week) is here, offering Prime members discounts on almost every major category across the retailer's site. You can also find deals on tech, household essentials, sneakers and more. I frequently cover shopping events like Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a writer for NBC Select, so I know how to find deals that are actually worth buying. Plus, I've been gaming on the Nintendo Switch since 2017, enjoying everything from roguelikes like Hades to open-world RPGs like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. (That said, I have yet to get my hands on the recently launched Nintendo Switch 2.) I combed through thousands of discounts to find the best Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals for both the original models and the new Nintendo Switch 2 — each one I recommend below is highly rated, at least 20% off and at its lowest price in at least three months. I'll frequently update this list throughout Prime Day. Best Prime Day Nintendo Switch deals This Nintendo-licensed memory card gives you 128 gigabytes to store downloaded games, screenshots, and video captures. It also has faster read and write speeds, so games load more quickly and have less lag. It works with the original Nintendo Switch and OLED and Lite versions, but not the Nintendo Switch 2. If you've snagged a Switch 2, which Nintendo just released in June, protect it with this precision-fit case. It's slim and lightweight while offering protection from drops, bumps, and scratches, thanks to a plush interior. It also has 12 slots for game cards and an adjustable handle. Designed to fit the original Nintendo Switch lineup — including the OLED and Lite models — this carrying case protects your console with a firm outer shell and padded interior. It also has a large zippered mesh pocket for cords and other accessories, nine game card slots, two micro SD card slots, and a padded screen cover that doubles as a stand. Since you can take the Nintendo Switch on the go, it helps to have a dock that's similarly portable. Unlike the bulky storage dock that comes with the Switch, this has a much slimmer profile and is lightweight, allowing you to pack it and set it up. You can play either on the TV (with an HDMI cable, which isn't included) or on the tabletop, since it also works as a stand. Licensed by Nintendo, this wireless, AA battery-powered Switch Controller works for the original Nintendo Switch as well as the OLED and Lite models, and is decked out with imagery from Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It has an ergonomic design for extra comfort, precision-tuned joysticks, and mappable buttons, which you can program mid-game. One of the few accessories that works with the Switch 2, Switch, and OLED version, this charging dock has four Joycon chargers and bidirectional charging, meaning you can place your console facing either direction; the original dock only charges in one direction. It has indicator lights to let you know when your Joy-Cons are fully charged and space for the charging cable. If you're into cozy, farming simulation games like Stardew Valley, it's worth giving this game a shot; it was first released back in 2003, making it a pioneer in the genre. Plant crops, brush livestock, and fish in the river while making friends and romancing characters in the titular Mineral Town. I also included products the NBC Select staff love and use. I ran each deal through price trackers like CamelCamelCamel to ensure products are at their lowest price ever or their lowest price in at least three months. All the products I recommend are highly rated items with at least a 4.0-star average rating from hundreds of reviews. Why trust NBC Select? I'm a writer for NBC Select who has covered deals and sales for four years.
