Work on Yellow BRT project: Sharjeel terms progress ‘satisfactory'
KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the progress on the Yellow Line BRT project is satisfactory, with work advancing swiftly on two key components, the construction of depots and the new structure replacing the former Jam Sadiq Bridge. He emphasised that the government's objective is to complete the project ahead of schedule to provide the citizens of Karachi with access to modern and high-quality public transport services. Talking to media after reviewed the construction work of the Yellow Line BRT at the Jam Sadiq Bridge, he said that the Sindh government's priority is to integrate all BRT lines in the megacity, including the Green Line, Orange Line, Red Line, and Yellow Line, which will significantly ease traffic congestion. He added that electric buses (EV buses) are being introduced under the Yellow Line and other BRTs. In response to a question about the Red Line BRT, he acknowledged that there had indeed been some challenges; however, the pace of construction has now picked up again, and the progress is satisfactory. He said that the Sindh government is set to launch double-decker buses and Pakistan's first electric taxi service (EV Taxi) in Karachi in August. Additionally, Pink EV scooters will be provided free of cost, especially for women, to ensure safe and convenient transportation. He said that all these initiatives are part of the Sindh government's broader vision to reduce environmental pollution in Karachi and to provide a modern and efficient transport infrastructure. Memon said that water has been drained from most areas of Hyderabad following the recent rains, but some issues were encountered due to the power suspensions caused by HESCO. The administration used generators to drain water from the affected areas. To a question, he said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government should be allowed to function in accordance with its mandate, but Ali Amin Gandapur appears to be acting more like a member of the opposition. Regarding the MQM, he said that they should abandon the politics of hatred and instead focuses on addressing public issues. Regarding the children of the PTI founder, he said that if they wish to come to Pakistan and take part in politics, they should be allowed to do so; however, the politics of chaos will never be tolerated. Regarding the building collapse in Lyari, he stated that the building was constructed illegally without any approved plan. Altaf Hussain's health condition ‘getting better'
Health condition of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain is improving, said the party leader, amid social media speculations a day after Altaf was admitted to hospital after his condition deteriorated. Senior MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi said the health of MQM's founder is better today compared to yesterday. 'Various tests were conducted on him. By the grace of Allah Almighty and the prayers of the nation, Altaf Bhai's health has improved,' he said. Relaying the party supporters of Altaf's improving condition, Azizabadi dispelled the 'rumours being spread on social media about Altaf Bhai', saying workers should maintain unity in their ranks. Doctors prescribe multiple tests, transfusion as Altaf Hussain hospitalised in London Whereas, MQM Deputy Convener Coordination Committee Qasim Ali Raza said a team of various expert and distinguished doctors conducted a detailed medical examination of Altaf, at a local hospital in London. 'The panel of doctors, in light of the reports from various tests conducted yesterday, agreed to continue the medications given to Altaf Hussain,' he wrote in a social media post. In addition, he said, due to a decrease in blood counts, doctors have advised continuing blood transfusions for the MQM founder today as well. Altaf was hospitalised in London on Thursday night, where doctors prescribed him various diagnostic tests including blood tests, ECG, CT scan, X-ray and ultrasound. In a post on X a day ago, Azizabadi said: 'Mr Altaf Hussain has since long been suffering from severe emotional stress which included the domestic and international geo-political situations, multiple law suits in London, and fiscal difficulties.' Azizabadi had also said Altaf had been admitted to a hospital in London due to severe illness, where various tests had been conducted on him. The MQM founder has been living in self-exile in London since 1992. He had long been active in Pakistani politics delivering speeches and messages through phone calls, until he was declared fugitive after serious charges were levelled against him in 2015.

MQM founder hospitalised in London
MQM founder Altaf Hussain was hospitalised in London where he underwent blood transfusion and a series of tests on the recommendations of his doctors, senior party officials confirmed on Friday. The MQM founder is living in self-exile in the United Kingdom for over three decades, where he has also been granted the British citizenship. His close aides said that he was under close observation of a medical team. Mustafa Azizabadi said in post on X that the MQM founder underwent medical check-up at a local hospital, where doctors conducted initial examinations and prescribed a series of diagnostic tests.
