This Anker gizmo replaced my 3 most-used chargers — it's at its lowest price ever

As a tech-obsessed shopping editor who honestly spends way too much on electronics, I'm a sucker for multiuse products that help me save space and reduce clutter. This three-port Anker charger is one of my favorite tried-and-true tech finds that actually does what it's meant to do, and does it well — and that's charging up to three devices at once. Best of all, though, it's only $26. Why is this a good deal? 💰 I purchased this three-port adapter a few months ago as a space-saving travel tech solution since I didn't want to pack the respective chargers for my laptop, AirPods and phone. I wish I had waited, because it's currently $14 off. This is the lowest it's been. Ever. Why do I need this? 🤔 If, like me, you'd rather pack (and charge) smarter, this Anker three-port charger is just what you need. It has two USB-C ports (one for your laptop and the other for your phone) and one USB-A port for charging any other device you may have, like AirPods or even a smartwatch. I've tried a couple of other three-port chargers in the past, and the charging time on those often lagged when I added more devices. With this one, they all charged pretty quickly, and that's because this adapter has a fast-charging feature that gives all three connected devices a boost. The brand says that power is distributed efficiently between the ports to ensure you get the best charge. After using this myself for months, I can say that Anker kept its word. The charger is thoughtfully designed and doesn't take up more space than needed when plugged into a power strip. For comparison, you know how the MacBook Pro charger is so bulky that it can block another outlet opening? Since this one is slim and upright, it only takes up one space, leaving the others free for other devices. The Anker is compatible with all major devices, including the MacBook Pro and Air, Windows laptops, Android smartphones, iPhones, AirPods and other earbuds, and plenty more. What reviewers say 💬 I'm not the only one who gives this charger two thumbs up. Over 14,000 five-star fans also gave it their stamp of approval. Pros 👍 "This is a must-have for anyone looking to streamline their charging setup," one shopper wrote. "It offers rapid, efficient charging, great portability and compatibility with a wide range of devices ... and it stays securely in the wall, which is a huge plus." One reviewer was impressed with the fast-charging feature, writing, "We have Samsung 6 watches, and it only takes an hour to charge, whereas our old one takes four hours." "It doesn't take up any more room on the wall outlet or your power strip than a regular cord and doesn't hog the outlet plugs on either side of it," another shopper said. Cons 👎 A few buyers had some minor design-tweak suggestions. One shopper said he wished there was a "tiny power and charging indicator" on it to indicate that it's in use. Another said it would've been nice if "it was flatter," but acknowledged that "it is nice and compact for travel." If you have Amazon Prime, you'll get free shipping, of course. Not yet a member? No problem. You can sign up for your free 30-day trial here. (And by the way, those without Prime still get free shipping on orders of $35 or more.) This humanoid robot can do cartwheels, handstands and roundhouse kicks at less than $6,000

For less than the price of a fully decked-out MacBook Pro, you can buy Unitree's latest humanoid robot called the R1. You only have to shell out $5,900 for a robot that weighs around 55 lbs, stands about four feet tall, and is built with a Large Multimodal Model to handle complex tasks. If you're wondering what the R1 will be used for, your guess is as good as ours. Unitree said its robot is "fully customizable" and demoed its capabilities in a video showing off cartwheels, handstands, boxing, roundhouse kicks and running downhill, but didn't offer examples with any practical use yet. The lightweight robot has an ultra-wide view and a four-microphone array to help it recognize voices and images, but was also built with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. It's not hard to envision a world where people program the R1 as a robot butler to handle daily chores, much like what Meta is reportedly working on. However, you might even be able to square up two R1s to fight each other, as evidenced by Unitree promoting a unique fighting tournament that felt like a less aesthetically polished version of 2011's Real Steel . The latest R1 is a much lower entry point than Unitree's previous humanoid robot, the G1, which starts at $16,000 and was demoed at CES 2025 with somewhat disastrous results. Even though the R1's sub-$6,000 price tag is arguably high, it's still much cheaper compared to other similar options, like Tesla's Optimus bot that's expected to go for at least $20,000.

Save Up to $700 Off Apple's MacBook Air and Pro Laptops in Best Buy's Huge Sale

Apple makes some of our favorite laptops right now, and it's been that way for a long time now. Between the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, there are machines for gamers and digital nomads alike. But there's one thing that the entire lineup has in common -- none of Apple's portable Macs are particularly cheap. Best Buy's latest laptop sale certainly helps, though, with discounts of up to $700 available on Apple's latest and previous-gen machines. This sale includes machines from across the entire range all the way from entry-level offerings all the way to a beast of a machine with more RAM and storage than most people will ever need. That means that there should be a deal for everyone right here, but you should act fast -- these deals aren't going to be around forever. If you're looking for the biggest discount possible, look no further than the 14-inch M3 Max MacBook Pro. This machine comes with 36GB of RAM and an incredible 30-core GPU. That's all backed up by a full 1TB of storage and would normally retail for around $3,100. Today, you can save $700 and get that same machine for just $2,399 in either silver or space black. Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money. Looking to get a great laptop for as little as possible? Best Buy is selling the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air for just $699, saving you $100. There are multiple colors on offer, and they all come with 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. There are plenty of options in between those two price points. One example is the 13-inch M4 MacBook Air with 16GB and 256GB of storage, a machine that normally sells for just shy of $1,000. This laptop, again in multiple colors, can be on your desk for just $849 if you take advantage of this sale. It's one of the better-value deals, since this laptop is only a few months old! Why this deal matters You don't always have to buy the latest model when buying an Apple laptop, not least because the previous-gen M-series chips are so fast. Unless you need the best-possible performance, we suggest considering an older model if the price is right, but even the latest, most powerful models are discounted at Best Buy right now. Just make sure to take advantage of this sale before it comes to a close.

Apple patents wild MacBook camera idea – and it might kill the notch

MacBooks are sporting a camera notch: many of you may probably not even notice it, while some of you may be bothered by it. New research now shows that Apple is continuing to work on the camera system of its MacBooks, and it's looking into other ways to make it better without having to deal with adding too much bulk to your laptop. There's a newly-granted patent called "Camera integration for portable electronic devices" which explores the option of providing a better quality MacBook camera without having to deal with it being bulky or adding to the weight of the laptop. Apple was previously granted (in 2024) a patent on a similar idea. Having two patents on the topic can hint that Cupertino is pursuing the idea. The drawings in the new patent suggest that the new camera system may not exceed 3mm, and it may protrude from a MacBook Pro lid. The patent doesn't make clear where this camera would be positioned, which is quite curious. On some drawings, the camera appears partially positioned at a notch defined by the display assembly. But in other drawings, this camera can be moved to one side of the screen, or it can even be removed from the front and affixed on the back. It could be using magnets to attach the system. Apple's patent describes an "optical component" attached to the "wall" (or the lid) of the MacBook Pro. Also, the patent multiple times refers to the camera module being able to communicate with other such modules. Like, one camera from the front of the display, facing the user, and another on the back. The patent also talks about what could be a rotating display as well. So basically, the user could mount one camera module on the back of the MacBook Pro lid, then rotate the whole display when they want to film. The patent doesn't focus on that, though, and doesn't list how such a rotation could be achieved or what it could be beneficial to, which is unusual for a patent. It could also be a wireless screen instead of a rotating one attached to the other part of the laptop. It could potentially be picked up out of the unit and then repositioned, which sounds pretty handy at first glance. The patent doesn't dive deep into configurable screens or keyboard units, though. As you know, when it comes to patents, it's not always certain that these inventions will see the light of day, though. It could be just something Apple is exploring, but the company can always abandon the idea or find it too expensive to make. We'll have to wait and see on that front. Meanwhile, I find the idea of a camera that can be repositioned and even a laptop display that can be changed from landscape to portrait mode quite cool, personally. I think it would be pretty cool if Apple manages to make something like that, but it does sound quite unconventional. There's also the question of durability, though. If you can reposition the display and/or the camera module, would that be durable enough to meet Apple's high standards of quality? And... what if you end up losing this camera module somewhere, if it's fully detachable, that is. I mean, I go to different coffee shops with my MacBook, and I just can't get rid of the idea of me just putting this camera module next to me on the chair and then never seeing it again. But nevertheless, the idea does sound interesting. Let's see if Apple makes something out of it.
