'Eddington' trailer: Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix trade blows in Ari Aster's latest
All products featured here are independently selected by our editors and writers. If you buy something through links on our site, Mashable may earn an affiliate commission. Hereditary and Midsommar writer/director Ari Aster pits Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix against one another in the upcoming thriller Eddington. Eddington returns audiences to May of 2020, when COVID-19 brought the world to a standstill and protests over racial division and the murder of George Floyd rocked the US. In the small town of Eddington, New Mexico, the convergence of these issues has created a major rift, with Pascal's progressive Mayor Ted Garcia on one side and Phoenix's Sheriff Joe Cross on the other. When Joe challenges Ted in the next mayoral election, their rivalry sparks a powder keg that could have disastrous consequences for the entire town. (All 2,345 citizens.) SEE ALSO: Summer Movie Preview: What's coming to theaters and streaming? While Aster made his name in horror, the trailer for Eddington suggests it's more of a Western thriller, with the titular town not being big enough for both Joe and Ted's ambitions. Between Western staples like stand-offs and shootouts, the trailer above also re-visits the pandemic bubble of 2020, featuring everything from COVID-19 nasal swabs (ouch) to discussions of social distancing. The 2020 setting also allows Aster to explore the increased role social media and conspiracy theories played during social isolation. But Eddington goes beyond mere doomscrolling. Emma Stone plays Joe's conspiracy-obsessed wife Louise, while Austin Butler portrays the cult leader she latches onto. Get a sneak peek of their unsettling performances in the trailer above, which threads the needle between absurdity and the all-too real anxieties of 2020. Eddington also stars Luke Grimes, Deirdre O'Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Belleau. Eddington hits opens exclusively in theaters on July 18.

Whether you're trying to cut back on subscription fees, avoid auto-renewal after a free 30-day trial, or align your spending more closely with your values, there are tons of reasons you may want to cancel Amazon Prime. Of course, you may want to wait until after Prime Day — which officially takes place on July 8-11 — since Prime members have exclusive access to most of the deals during the shopping event. Nevertheless, here's a step-by-step guide on how to bid Bezos goodbye if and when the time comes to cut ties with the mega retailer. Trust us; it's not as straightforward as it should be. Target is hosting a Circle Week sale during Prime Day again
All products featured here are independently selected by our editors and writers. If you buy something through links on our site, Mashable may earn an affiliate commission. After letting Amazon Prime Day hog the spotlight last July, Target's biggest sale of the summer will directly compete with it in 2025. The bullseye retailer announced Monday its plans to host a Circle Week event from Sunday, July 6 to Saturday, July 12, bookending Prime Day by 72 hours. (It's slated for July 8 to 11 in 2025, making it the longest Prime Day on record.) Like Amazon's flagship sale, Target Circle Week is a members-only affair: Its deals will be exclusive to shoppers who have joined the retailer's free Target Circle loyalty program and its premium Target Circle 360 program ($10.99/month or $99/year). Circle 360 members will also receive early access to the offers starting July 5. SEE ALSO: Everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Day 2025: Dates and deals To ring in the start of back-to-school season, verified college students who are Target Circle members will receive a one-time 20% discount they can use storewide beginning June 29. Students can go about verifying their status on Target's website using a valid student ID, a class schedule, or a tuition receipt. Circle Week is a recurring weeklong sale that Target runs several times a year. Its summer slot traditionally overlaps with Prime Day in mid-July, though last year, it fell the week prior. The second week of July will be a busy one: Best Buy and Walmart are also hosting their own anti-Prime Day sales. Products available for purchase through affiliate links. Everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Day 2025: Dates, deals, and the competition
All products featured here are independently selected by our editors and writers. If you buy something through links on our site, Mashable may earn an affiliate commission. Mashable's Shopping team has been covering Amazon Prime Day since 2018, and this year, we've got our work cut out for us. The retail giant just announced that it's extending its flagship members-only sale to four days for 2025. Granted, the name "Prime Day" hasn't been applicable since 2019, when Amazon decided to turn it into a 48-hour event. Still, four days of deals means Prime Day 2025 is the longest Prime Day ever. (We can see Amazon's logic here: Many tariff- and inflation-weary shoppers are in dire need of some really good summer deals.) Here's what we think you should know before Prime Day kicks off in July. Prime Day is an annual sitewide sale open to paid and trial members of Amazon's Prime subscription service. First held in 2015 in honor of Amazon's 20th anniversary (with mixed success), it was originally plugged as a "one-day-only event filled with more deals than Black Friday." In the years since, it's morphed into a longer affair that's preceded by weeks of preview offers. Prime Day is a misnomer. For the past three years, Amazon has hosted an additional two-day sale for Prime members in October, teeing up its Black Friday festivities. (The 2022 version was called "Prime Early Access Sale," and it was renamed to "Prime Big Deal Days" in 2023.) However, the summer iteration of Prime Day is still Amazon's marquee sale. Prime Day runs from Tuesday, July 8 through Friday, July 11 in 2025, with new deals dropping as often as every five minutes at certain points during the event. SEE ALSO: Amazon announces Prime Day 2025 dates, and the 4-day rumors are true While it's longer than past Prime Days, this year's sale still comes at the usual time: Amazon has a historical preference for mid-July slots with Tuesday start dates. For reference, Prime Day 2022 was live from July 12 to 13, Prime Day 2023 ran from July 11 to 12, and Prime Day 2024 fell on July 16 and 17. Prime Day 2025 will officially start at 3:01 a.m. ET (12:01 a.m PT) on July 8, but as mentioned earlier, Amazon is offering a selection of early Prime Day deals in the lead-up to the main event. (We've already rounded up some of the best ones below.) Prime Day 2025 will conclude at 2:59 a.m. ET on Saturday, July 12, aka 11:59 p.m. PT on Friday, July 11. Some deals may linger past that deadline, but don't count on it. Amazon is introducing new themed daily drops called "Today's Big Deals" for Prime Day 2025. According to a press release, these limited-time offers will involve "some of the most exciting deals of the event" and feature well-known brands like Samsung and Levi's. They'll go live every day at 3 a.m. ET (12 a.m. PT) during the sale and hang around "for a limited time, while supplies last." The best pre-Prime Day deals usually go to Amazon's own devices and services; the retail giant likes to keep things in the family. At the time of writing, we spotted discounts of up to 50% off Fire TVs and accessories, up to 56% off Blink home security equipment, up to 54% off Fire tablets, and up to 36% off eero mesh WiFi devices. Note that some of these deals are already Prime exclusives: Amazon 32-inch Fire TV 2-Series TV — $109.99 $149.99 (save $40 with Prime) Insignia 42-inch F20 Series Fire TV — $119.99 $179.99 (save $60) Insignia 50-inch F50 Series 4K Fire TV — $179.99 $299.99 (save $120) Amazon 50-inch Fire TV Omni Series 4K TV — $289.99 $479.99 (save $190 with Prime) Amazon 55-inch Fire TV 4-Series 4K TV — $309.99 $519.99 (save $210 with Prime) Amazon 55-inch Fire TV 4-Series 4K TV — $339.99 $459.99 (save $120 with Prime) Amazon 65-inch Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series QLED 4K TV — $899.99 $1,089.99 (save $190 with Prime) Amazon 75-inch Fire TV Omni QLED Series TV — $569.99 $1,099.99 (save $530 with Prime) Amazon Fire TV Alexa Voice Remote Pro — $24.99 $34.99 (save $10) Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K — $24.99 $49.99 (save $25) Amazon Fire TV Soundbar — $84.99 $119.99 (save $35 with Prime) Amazon Fire TV Soundbar Plus — $174.99 $249.99 (save $75) Amazon Fire TV Soundbar Plus with subwoofer and surround sound speakers — $389.99 $489.99 (save $100 with Prime) Blink Outdoor 4 — $39.99 $79.99 (save $40) Blink Outdoor 4 + Mini 2 — $59.98 $119.98 (save $60 with Prime) Blink Outdoor 4 Floodlight Camera — $59.99 $129.98 (save $69.99) Blink Outdoor 4 XR + Mini 2 — $79.98 $179.97 (save $170 with Prime) Blink Whole Home Bundle — $87.97 $179.97 (save $90 with Prime) Blink Video Doorbell + Outdoor 4 XR — $89.98 $199.97 (save $109.99 with Prime) Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus (32GB) — $54.99 $119.99 (save $65 with Prime) Like-New Amazon Fire HD 10 (32GB) — $69.99 $119.99 (save $50) Like-New Amazon Fire Max 11 (64GB) — $129.99 $199.99 (save $70) Like-New Amazon eero 6 mesh wifi extender — $54.99 $69.99 (save $15) Like-New Amazon eero 6 mesh wifi router — $54.99 $74.99 (save $20) Like-New Amazon eero 6+ mesh wifi router — $84.99 $124.99 (save $40) Amazon eero Pro 6E mesh wifi router — $159.99 $249.99 (save $90) Amazon is also doling out some extra perks for Team Prime ahead of Prime Day. Members can save $10 on any GrubHub+ delivery order using the code PRIME10; get a free four-month trial of Amazon Music Unlimited; try Audible Premium Plus free for three months; and claim some free video games via Prime Gaming. You have to be a Prime member in order to shop Amazon's Prime Day deals. But if you don't want to commit to a monthly or annual paid subscription, you can still participate by scheduling a free 30-day trial of Prime around the sale. (If you're a student or between the ages of 18 to 24, that free trial is six months long.) Just remember to cancel your membership as soon as Prime Day is over to avoid getting charged. Other retailers traditionally hold competing sales around Prime Day, and this year is no exception. Be sure to cross-check Amazon's deals with their listings in case they decide to match or one-up its prices. Best Buy's "Black Friday in July" sale will run from Monday, July 7 to Sunday, July 13, bookending Prime Day with three extra days of savings. A rep for the electronics retailer tells Mashable that the event will feature "deals on TVs, laptops, headphones, video games, electric bikes, and more," including some new limited-time "Doorbusters" on popular tech. (You may recall that Best Buy first introduced the Doorbuster format last year during its actual Black Friday sale.) SEE ALSO: Best Buy's 'Black Friday in July' sale will overlap with Prime Day, shocking no one Best Buy's Black Friday in July deals won't be exclusive to paid members of its My Best Buy program, but said members will receive special bonus rewards on certain purchases during the sale. Those rewards are live now through the final day of the event. A Target Circle Week sale will also overlap with Prime Day this year. The event is set for July 6 to 12, per a company rep, and Target Circle 360 members will get early access to the deals on July 5. Meanwhile, Walmart is hosting a six-day Walmart Deals event alongside Prime Day from July 8 to 13 (with five hours of early access for paid Walmart+ members starting July 7 at 7 p.m. ET). Its discounts will be available both in stores and online, which is a first. UPDATE: Jun. 25, 2025, 12:30 p.m. EDT This story has been updated with new details about members-only offers during Best Buy's Black Friday in July sale. UPDATE: Jun. 20, 2025, 3:05 p.m. EDT Target initially shared the wrong dates for its Circle Week event, a company rep tells Mashable. The sale will be from July 6 to 12, not July 13 to 19. This story has been updated accordingly.

Opens in a new window Credit: Apple Apple iPad (11-inch) $299 at Amazon $349 Save $50 Get Deal For anyone eyeing a fresh iPad, we have found a strong contender for the best early Prime Day deal. As of June 26, the 2025 Apple iPad (11-inch, WiFi, 128GB) is down to $299 at Amazon — a $50 discount off its usual $349 price tag. That's 14% off for a super-capable device that's ideal for streaming, multitasking, note-taking, and everything in between. SEE ALSO: Amazon is dropping way better early Prime Day TV deals than years prior There are other SKUs with different colours, storage options, and cellular capabilities, but this is the biggest bargain of them all — finally dropping back under $300. This 2025 iPad refresh packs in some serious upgrades without overcomplicating what makes an iPad great. First up, it's powered by Apple's A16 chip, the same processor found in the latest iPhones. That means faster load times, smoother app switching, and the kind of snappy performance that makes work (and play) feel effortless. The 11-inch Liquid Retina display aims to be a visual treat too — vibrant, crisp, and equipped with True Tone to automatically adjust to your environment. Whether you're sketching with Apple Pencil, editing photos, or binge-watching Severance, this screen holds its own. With 128GB of storage, you've got plenty of room for your files, apps, and creative projects. And the 12MP front and back cameras make Zoom calls and casual snapshots look surprisingly good. Added WiFi 6 support keeps your connection fast and reliable, whether you're home, at school, or working remotely from a coffee shop. This model also features Touch ID on the top button for quick unlocking and secure Apple Pay purchases — no Face ID, no fuss. And thanks to its all-day battery life, you can go from sunrise to late-night scrolls without reaching for a charger. Whether you're grabbing this for yourself, a student, or as a thoughtful tech gift, now's a great time to buy — especially before Prime Day madness kicks into high gear and stock starts running low. If you're after more than one new screen for the household, the Amazon Fire TV is over $100 off ahead of Prime Day. And so you don't have to clean as much whilst enjoying your new iPad, you can also save $300 on a Shark AI Ultra voice control robot vacuum ahead of Prime Day.
