Liam Payne reportedly finished two albums before passing: Is a posthumous release planned?
Following the tragic death of former One Direction star Liam Payne, attention has turned to the creative work he left behind — including two unreleased solo albums and a Netflix series that offers a deeply personal look at his life and artistic journey. According to the Daily Mail, Liam Payne had recorded two full-length albums before his passing. The first was developed in Camden, North London, with renowned producer Jamie Scott, who co-wrote One Direction's 2014 ballad 'Night Changes'. The second body of work came during a transformative period in Palm Beach, Florida, and Sweden, where Payne spent the summer of 2024 living sober, exercising daily, and dedicating himself to music. Friends and collaborators described the Florida sessions as especially meaningful. Payne had relocated to the United States during that time with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, focusing intently on recovery and creative renewal. His long-time friend Roger Nores supported him throughout the process and told the Mail, 'He was really looking after himself' and 'had turned a corner.' While both albums remain unreleased, sources close to the family have confirmed that there are 'serious discussions' underway about releasing select tracks to coincide with the launch of Netflix's upcoming series 'Building The Band', which features Payne in a mentoring role. However, no final decision has been made, and any release would require formal approval from his family. Payne's family, including his father Geoff and sisters Ruth and Nicola, have expressed support for the series, which captures intimate moments of Liam's life and creative process in his final year. Nicola Payne wrote in a heartfelt post: 'Watching this over the past few months has given me a way to feel close to you.' Payne died without leaving a will. His estate, reportedly valued at £24.3 million, will go to his eight-year-old son Bear, whom he shared with singer Cheryl Tweedy. Tweedy has been named one of the executors of the estate. As tributes continue to pour in from fans and artists around the world, the question of how to preserve and honour Liam Payne's legacy remains a delicate one. Those closest to him are moving cautiously, balancing public interest with private grief, and ensuring that any future releases reflect the deeply personal nature of the work he created in what many believe was a turning point in his life.

Zayn Malik addresses racism he faced in One Direction on new song
Zayn Malik is set to release a song about facing racism during his time in One Direction. The 32-year-old pop star shot to fame alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and the late Liam Payne in one of the biggest boy bands in the world in 2010. Zayn quit the What Makes You Beautiful group in 2015, and pursued a solo career. He's now previewed a track called Fuchsia Sea on Instagram, on which he sings: 'I worked hard in a white band / And they still laughed at the Asian." A song of the same name already appeared on Zayn's 2024 solo album Room Under The Stairs, so it's unclear whether it's simply been updated or will be a new song entirely. The clip of the song teases that it's "coming soon". He captioned the post: "Zaddy's home." Zayn - who is of Pakistani heritage on his father's side - was previously compared to suspected terrorist Dzhokhar Tsarnaev by Bill Maher on late-night television in the US, leading to a petition for him to apologise. Opening about the racism he's faced, Zayn told The Sun in 2012: 'Nasty things [were said] like I'm a terrorist, and this and that. 'How can you justify that? How can you call me that and get away with it?' Meanwhile, Zayn "almost cried" as he sang One Direction's Night Changes on the anniversary of his departure from the band. The singer was visibly moved as he performed the last single he released with his 1D bandmates in Mexico City in March. He told the crowd at Palacio De Los Deportes arena in a clip circulated on social media: "It's the first time I sang that song in 10 years. "Thank you, that was f****** amazing. I almost cried at one point. This is insane." In a social media statement, the Pillow Talk hitmaker announced on the day of his exit: "My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. 'I'd like to apologize to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. "I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.' He reunited with bandmates Harry, Niall and Louis at Liam's funeral late last year. The 31-year-old star plunged to his death from the balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16, 2024.

Zayn Malik praised for calling out 'isolating' racism he experienced in One Dire
It's almost been 15 years since One Direction formed, and Zayn Malik has taken shots at the racism he faced at the boy band's dizzying heights. Zayn's complex history with the band is no secret but his new song Fuchsia Sea points at a wider struggle with fame as the only non-white band member. On March 25, 2015, the Night Changes hitmaker announced he was exiting One Direction for good, devastating the millions of fans and shocking his bandmates. In the decade since, the now 32-year-old singer has seemingly softened on his feelings towards the band — even opening his sold-out arena show with a 1D song. However, his new song brings that complicated history back to the surface as he raps about being 'laughed at' as 'the Asian'. Zayn was the only non-white member of the boy band, which included Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and the late Liam Payne. In his new track, which he teased was 'coming soon' on Instagram, Zayn rapped: 'Got my back against the wall so much they think I got a brick fascination / Do you remember every conversation? 'Cause I have been conscious of every connotation. 'And while they concentrate on their elevation, I've got a round trip to the constellation / I'm a convert to the concert, and I did that for inflation, 'cause I worked hard in a White band, and they still laughed at the Asian.' He later shared a full verse on his story, which referenced his family and how they 'dreamed hard' for a better life in the UK. Fans quickly shared their support for Zayn on social media, recalling incidents of racist attacks on the Kiss You hitmaker. On X, heartweirdo wrote: 'Zayn was literally branded a ter*orist at 17. He twted a simple Arabic prayer & got called a jihadi. He posted 'Eid Mubarak' & white fans told him to stop pushing Islam. 'He was constantly exoticised only praised when he looked 'less brown,' mocked when he looked 'too Muslim.'' 90sbrutalia added: 'I'm soo proud of zayn for publicly acknowledging the racism/islamophobia he's faced, specifically from what must've been an extremely isolating experience as the ONLY poc in a white band. 'The amount of ppl acting clueless and asking what brought this on as if zayn wasn't barraged with hundreds of disgusting islamophobic comments over a goddamn selfie last month.' Katneptune_ said: 'Zayn's always been proud and vocal about his background, even back then, but this feels like the first time he's explicitly and publicly acknowledged being the only poc in the band & how differently he was treated bc of it. even when interviewers asked uncomfortable or racially.' Since his One Direction exit, Zayn has focused on his personal life and largely stayed out of the spotlight except for big announcements. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video At the time of his exit, he said he wanted to 'relax' and live the life of a normal 22-year-old but has since confessed that this wasn't the whole truth. On the Call Her Daddy podcast in 2023, he revealed that the band were just 'sick' of each other at that point, and he decided to get out first. More Trending However, over the years, Zayn's feelings towards the group have softened, especially after the shock death of Payne last year. The Pillowtalk singer posted an emotional tribute to his former bandmate, acknowledging their differences but saying he would miss him. Then, months later, Zayn sang Night Changes on tour, which originally charted in the UK Top 10 but became particularly poignant after Payne's death and re-entered the charts at number six last year. Payne tragically died at the age of 31 on October 16 after falling from a hotel balcony while abroad. Got a story? Zayn Malik opens up about facing racism during One Direction days in new song ‘Fuchsia Sea'
Zayn Malik's latest music teaser has sparked intense speculation among fans, who believe the singer is directly addressing his experience with One Direction in his upcoming track 'Fuchsia Sea.' Shared via Instagram Stories, Malik's handwritten lyrics struck a chord with followers and revived conversations around his complex history with the chart-topping boy band. Photo: Instagram One line in particular—'Cause I worked hard in a white band and they still laughed at the Asian'—has ignited debate, with many interpreting it as a critique of how Malik was treated during his time with the group. Reactions on social media ranged from fierce support to calls for a public apology on his behalf. Malik, who was the first to leave the group before their official 2016 disbandment, has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years. That changed with his 2024 'Stairway to the Sky' tour, where he reconnected with fans through stripped-back performances in cities including London, Las Vegas, and Washington, DC. The singer's relationship with his former bandmates, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and the late Liam Payne, has remained distant. They were last seen together in November 2024 to mourn Payne's passing at 31. In recent months, however, Malik appears to have buried the hatchet as he performed a cover of the band's hit "Night Changes" in his concert in Mexico and also acknowledged Tomlinson's attendance at one of his shows.
