Marcos: Small cities, municipalities priority in patient transport vehicles distribution
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. said Friday that the government would prioritize giving patient transport vehicles (PTVs) to smaller cities and municipalities in support of their health projects. Marcos made the remark during the distribution of patient transport vehicles in Dipolog City. ''At inuna namin – hindi namin muna pinarioritize (prioritize) 'yung malalaking lungsod, the big cities because usually mayroon na silang mga facilities. Hindi urgent. Iyong mga maliliit ang inuna namin. Inumpisahan natin fourth, fifth, sixth class na municipality. Then slowly we'll work our way back,'' Marcos said. Then slowly we'll work our way back.) According to the President, the government, through the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, has already distributed 1,067 PTVs since June 2022. He said this would continue as his administration intends to provide ambulances to all local government units by the end of the year. The PCSO allocated P1 billion in 2025 to procure 395 more PTVs for requesting local government units and national government agencies. More performers include Cup of Joe, Ben&Ben, Rico Blanco, Maki, and Earl Agustin. Aside from the performances, vibrant hot air balloons will be flown in Cebu for the first time ever. Aurora Music Festival Cebu is happening on November 22 at CDM Events Grounds, City Di Mare. Tickets are now available via Epic Events online, and SM Tickets online and outlets. Bill seeking P1,200 national minimum wage refiled in House
A bill mandating a P1,200 national daily minimum wage was refiled in the House of Representatives Wednesday. In filing House Bill 2599, Makabayan bloc lawmakers Antonio Tinio of ACT Teachers party-list and Renee Co of Kabataan party-list said the regional wage board system in the last 30 years only resulted in poverty-level wages for workers. They proposed the abolition of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board by amending Article 99 of the Labor Code and replace it the National Wages and Productivity Board. 'Filipino workers have weighed in on the regionalized wage regime through 36-year history and found it a big failure. They are now demanding that it be scrapped and for the Philippines to return to the regime of uniform national minimum wage that is based on the family living wage,' the lawmakers said in their explanatory note. The authors then cited an IBON Foundation study showing that the amount needed to raise the current minimum wage to P1,200 living wage only requires 29.7% to 49.1% of the profits amassed by private employers, making it feasible if only employers are willing to cut down on profits. 'The surge in the prices of oil and other basic goods and services in the last several years likewise has devoured, according to some estimates, the wages of our workers by 25-30%. Workers are now groaning under the crushing effect of heavy taxes and high prices on their wages and income,' the lawmakers said. 'It is therefore imperative for the State to ensure that what the Constitution-the workers' just share in the fruits of production and the workers' right to living wage-is fulfilled in pursuit of the equitable distribution of income and wealth towards economic and social development. The State must recognize its justice and necessity given the workers' contribution to society and the economy amid all the hardships,' they added. Violators will face several penalties, including a fine of 100% of the total wage increment due their employees multiplied by the number of unpaid working days, plus P50,000 moral damages to each employee, and suspension of business permit.—with a report from Tina Panganiban Perez/AOL, GMA Integrated News

Palawan town to be placed under state of calamity after severe flooding
The town of Roxas in Palawan will be placed under a state of calamity following days of severe flooding caused by continuous rains from the southwest monsoon, or habagat, intensified by the recent Tropical Storm #CrisingPH. Roxas Mayor Pedy Sabando confirmed the move in an interview with Super Radyo Palawan DYSP 909Khz, saying the same is based on a recommendation from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC). The Municipal Council approved the recommendation during its regular session on Monday, July 21, 2025. Sabando is expected to sign the declaration on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The local government has allocated P1 million to provide food packs for residents affected by the flooding and currently staying in evacuation centers. Additional assistance has also been sent to Roxas by the Palawan Provincial Government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
