Shahid Kapoor's Chhatrapati Shivaji Biopic Shelved, Confirms Director Amit Rai
Last Updated: Director Amit Rai, best known for OMG 2, confirmed the news in a recent interview with Mid-Day. Shahid Kapoor's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been officially shelved. Director Amit Rai, best known for OMG 2, confirmed the news in a recent interview with Mid-Day. He also expressed his frustration with the film industry's systemic issues. In an interview with Mid-Day, director Amit Rai said, 'The system is so cruel. Even if you have proved your mettle with a R180 crore film [OMG 2], it's not enough. How is a director supposed to work here, under these systems of casting, production, star, and management? You live with a story for five years, and within minutes, somebody writes a five-pager, pointing out what is wrong and what is right in the film." Amit also revealed that his OMG 2 actor Pankaj Tripathi is a part of his next. In fact, Akshay Kumar, too, had expressed interest in doing it. He praised the two actors for being 'generous'. 'An actor will only do what's working at the box office. Very few actors were honest to me. Sometimes, they weren't interested in being part of a film that's speaking the truth about society, and instead wanted to do a love story," he added. Shahid Kapoor is currently busy with the shoot of Vishal Bhardwaj's next. A high-voltage box office clash is likely to happen at box office in December this year. The makers of Shahid Kapoor's next has reportedly decided to stick to the original release date of the upcoming film, despite major competition from Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar and Prabhas' much-anticipated The Raja Saab. There is no intention of altering the film's release, setting the stage for a massive three-way showdown. Times Now has quoted Bollywood Hungama report which mentions that there is no change in release date of Shahid Kapoor's next. The portal reported a source close to the development as saying, 'It was the makers of Shahid Kapoor's next that took the December 5 slot first. The filming is going on at a steady pace and the film has shaped up well. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is confident of the product and doesn't feel the need to move from the date that he was the first one to reserve." But still an official confirmation is awaited. Shahid Kapoor's Next To Clash With Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar And Prabhas's The Raja Saab?
The report mentions that the makers of Shahid Kapoor's next has no intention of altering the film's release, setting the stage for a massive three-way showdown. A high-voltage box office clash is likely to happen at the box office in December this year. The makers of Shahid Kapoor's next have reportedly decided to stick to the original release date of the upcoming film, despite major competition from Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar and Prabhas' much-anticipated The Raja Saab. There is no intention of altering the film's release, setting the stage for a massive three-way showdown. Times Now has quoted the Bollywood Hungama report, which mentions that there is no change in the release date of Shahid Kapoor's next. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is confident of the product and doesn't feel the need to move from the date that he was the first one to reserve." But still an official confirmation is awaited. On Ranveer Singh's birthday, the makers dropped first look of Dhurandhar. The actor, in long hair and a smoke in his mouth, kills and beats in style, like it's no task. With upbeat music in the backdrop, the film offers a glimpse into the violence and gore in store. Apart from Ranveer, makers have also dropped first looks of the film's other leading cast, comprising Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna. Arjun Rampal, who is one of the key characters in the film, looked intriguing in a never-seen-before rugged avatar, sporting a golden tooth, vintage metallic shades, dense grey beard and classic raw expressions. The film's leading leady, Tamil actor Sara Arjun, was also introduced. The release of Dhurandhar was also unveiled – December 5, 2025. Coming to Prabhas's horror comedy, The Raja Saab, the film teaser was also released recently. The teaser begins by introducing fans to a haunted mansion, soaked with dark secrets from the past. As sinister energy and spirits lurk in the night, Prabhas takes it as a mission to wipe out the evil. The teaser consists of all the crucial elements of a Prabhas film – there's a massy entry, dance, dialogues, and the actor perfectly balancing action with comedy. One of the show-stealers from the Hindi version of the teaser has to be Prabhas asking Nidhhi whether she's ever fallen in 'Shah Rukh Khan wala pyaar". The Raja Saab is produced by People Media Factory and Viswa Prasad. The film is set to release on December 5, 2025, in five languages – Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Directed by Maruthi, the film's music is composed by Thaman S. First Published: July 23, 2025, 07:23 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Is Aamir Khan making a film on the Meghalaya Murder Case? Actor responds
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has publicly dismissed recent speculation that he is planning a film based on the high-profile Meghalaya murder case. In a candid interview with Bollywood Hungama, Khan addressed the circulating rumours head-on and clarified his stance on the matter. 'There is no truth to these reports,' the actor said firmly. 'I honestly don't know where these stories start.' The rumours had been steadily gaining traction, with various outlets suggesting that Khan was not only conceptualising a film inspired by the case but was also actively monitoring developments related to it. The buzz intensified after a Times Now report cited unnamed sources allegedly close to Khan, claiming, 'Aamir Khan is closely following the updates on the Meghalaya murder case. He has personally tracked and discussed with his close circle the updates on the details. There might be a development on the subject from his production too.' Despite the media speculation, Khan and his production house have made no official announcements linking them to the case or any project based on it. The lack of concrete confirmation did little to stop the rumour mill from spinning—until now. As it stands, Khan appears to have no involvement—creative or otherwise—with any film related to the Meghalaya murder case. His focus, for now, remains on upcoming projects that have been officially announced. Aamir Khan was last seen in 'Sitaare Zameen Par', which was an official remake of the 2018 Spanish film, 'Campeones'. It is also a spiritual sequel to 'Taare Zameen Par'. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film followed a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament.
