LinkedIn Offers Notion Trial as Part of LinkedIn Premium Subscriptions

This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. LinkedIn's added another benefit to LinkedIn Premium membership, by partnering with Notion to offer six months of free access to Notion's app for paying members. As explained by LinkedIn: 'LinkedIn and Notion have partnered to bring you a smarter way to work and grow. LinkedIn Premium subscribers can now enjoy six months of free Notion Plus with AI for free. This offer is designed to empower professionals with tools to write, plan, and organize their work in Notion while unlocking new career opportunities through LinkedIn.' That could be an attractive lure for some potential subscribers, though it is only a six-month trial, effectively, and not a permanent LinkedIn Premium addition. It's the latest sweetener that LinkedIn's using to drive more paid subscriptions, as another element of its broader revenue push. And LinkedIn Premium is one of the most popular social media add-on offerings. According to reports, LinkedIn Premium currently has around 175 million paying subscribers, which equates to around 18% of the platform's total member base. That's a significantly higher amount than those paying for X Premium or Snapchat+, even besting YouTube's Premium subscription offering. The opportunity to improve your professional standing is a big carrot for LinkedIn Premium, while it also offers a range of variable add-on benefits, aside from LinkedIn-specific elements. That's clearly helping to boost Premium take-up, to at least some degree, with this new offer from Notion being another consideration in the mix. So is LinkedIn Premium actually worth paying for? Well, it depends on what you're doing in the app. For job seekers, there are exposure and reach benefits, which can help to elevate your job search efforts, while there are also AI assistant tools that can help to improve your professional standing. For creators and company pages, there are additional insights, InMail credits, custom CTA buttons, premium badges, and more. So there are some potentially valuable elements, which could be worth considering. These add-on offers provide another consideration for your subscription. Sign in to access your portfolio

Linda Yaccarino briefly loses verified X checkmark after stepping down as CEO

Ex-X CEO Linda Yaccarino is still @lindayaX on the social media site, but she briefly lost the blue checkmark next to her account name. The X Help Center notes that the site "may remove the checkmark of an account at any time without notice." Yaccarino announced she was leaving the position on Wednesday. The blue checkmark that is bestowed upon verified, X Premium accounts was removed from Yaccarino's profile after the announcement of her departure. The blue checkmark reappeared on Yaccarino's account Thursday evening. Yaccarino did not give a reason for her departure. X didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Elon Musk, the owner of X and parent company xAI, thanked Yaccarino Wednesday following her announcement. Yaccarino has continued to be active on the app, celebrating the return of McDonald's Snack Wrap and sharing a thinking face emoji in response to a post about a Justice Department review of Jeffrey Epstein records. Yaccarino's departure came a day after Musk's artificial intelligence chatbot Grok went on a posting spree of antisemitic comments and praise for Adolf Hitler. The posts have since been removed, and xAI officially rolled out a Grok 4 update. Musk announced Yaccarino as CEO of X in May 2023, months after acquiring what was then known as Twitter for $44 billion. Yaccarino previously worked at NBCUniversal, the parent company of CNBC.

Linda Yaccarino lost her blue checkmark… but now it's back

The verified badge disappeared from her handle @lindayaX sometime after her surprise exit from the company on Wednesday. As of around 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, Yaccarino's blue badge was back. It's unclear if she subscribes to X Premium. X did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The now-former CEO, who is also a "mom, foodie, fashion enthusiast," is still very active on the platform. On Thursday, Yaccarino celebrated the return of McDonald's Snack Wrap, cheered over Dolly Parton's appearance on Khloe Kardashian's podcast, and said she is "anxious to learn more" about geoengineering. Her departure came just one day after xAI's chatbot, Grok, posted antisemitic content and praised AdolfHitler's leadership on the social media platform. These posts have since been deleted, and Musk's company xAI said in a post that it has "taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X." Yaccarino did not disclose why she took the off-ramp as X's CEO but thanked Musk in a post on Wednesday morning for "two incredible years" with the company. Musk thanked her for her contributions in a reply but did not elaborate further. The missing verification was first noted by TechCrunch. According to the X Help Center, the platform "may remove the checkmark of an account at any time without notice." Musk tapped Yaccarino as CEO of X in May 2023, after snapping up the platform, then still called Twitter, in a $44 billion deal. The blue checkmark used to apply only to verified public figures and those with a record of published works, but it became a pay-to-play system when Musk took over. The badge can be obtained by subscribing to X Premium.
