Watch: Hungry elephant causes chaos in shop snack raid
A hungry elephant raided a shop in Thailand looking for snacks. We've all been there before: feeling peckish while watching TV and realising that there were no snacks in the pantry, meaning you have to throw the Crocs into sports mode and head to the shop. However, one shop in Thailand got a bit more than they bargained for when an elephant got the munchies and headed inside, looking for some snacks. @nbcnews An #elephant caused chaos in a grocery store in #Thailand when it walked in and began to help itself to snacks. ♬ original sound – nbcnews The huge male elephant, named Plai Biang Lek, briefly stopped in front of the shop near the Khao Yai National Park, before deciding to head in, calmly stopping in front of the till and chomping away at the snacks. The elephant was unfazed by the nearby park workers who were trying to get him out, eventually leaving with a bag of snacks in his trunk. Miraculously, no one was injured when the elephant came in, and there was no damage to the shop bar a few mud tracks and a little damage to the ceiling. A video of the elephant shopping was posted to social media, with the shop's owner Kamploy Kakaew saying that he ate about nine bags of sweet rice crackers, a sandwich and dried bananas that she had bought that morning. Danai Sookkanthachat, a volunteer in the park, told AP 'After he left the shop, he went on to open a bedroom window of another house.' Mr Sookkanthachat added that while he was seeing wild elephants from the park have been ransacking kitchens for years, but he has started seeing the elephants going in to more random places in search of food. The elephant has been known to raid homes before, but this is the first time he entered a shop. WATCH: Brazilian nun goes viral for beatboxing on a Catholic TV show
Brazilian nun starts beatboxing on live TV. Image: TikTok screenshot Now this is something you don't see every day. Sister Marizele, a Brazilian nun, has taken the internet by storm after a video of her beatboxing on a Catholic TV show went viral. The clip comes from an episode that aired on Pai Eterno, a Portuguese-language Catholic channel, featuring two nuns and a priest chatting about their ministry work. Dressed in matching light blue skirts and white blouses, the sisters were performing a song when suddenly, Sister Marizele switched gears and started beatboxing like a pro. As if that wasn't enough fun, the second nun, who was simply swaying to the tune, started doing some hip-hop dance moves. Not to be outdone, the priest who was quietly standing in the background joined the impromptu dance party. Even the show's host had to get up and move out of the way to make room for the dancing trio. Video Player is loading. The video has been reposted everywhere, with people comparing the joyful moment to scenes from the 1992 movie 'Sister Act.' In the movie Sister Mary Clarence, played by Whoopi Goldberg, turns a boring nun's choir into a musical sensation. One person commented, 'They really dropping Sister Act remake in 2025 huh?!' Another wrote, 'I'm loving this real-life ad for Sister Act 3.' But beyond the laughs and beats, viewers appreciated the reminder that nuns and priests had lives and passions before joining the church. 'People seem to forget that before becoming nuns or priests, they were teenagers with a love of music and going out. I love seeing them showing off their amazing talents,' wrote one viewer. People Are Saying Donald Trump's Paper Straws Speech Sounds Like An "SNL" Sketch
Donald Trump signed his *long-awaited* "ban" on paper straws on Tuesday. He posted a picture of a Diet Coke with a plastic straw on X: He also gave a little speech about why he was signing the order: @nbcnews President Trump signed an executive order aimed at encouraging consumers to buy plastic drinking straws, pushing back efforts by Biden to phase out single-use plastics and tackle waste. ♬ original sound - nbcnews - nbcnews NBC/ "So we're going back to plastic straws," he said. "These things don't work. I've had them many times. On occasion, they break, they explode. When something's hot they don't last very long, like a matter of minutes. Sometimes a matter of seconds. It's a ridiculous situation." Then he brought up sharks, saying, "I don't think plastic is going to affect a shark very much, as they're munching their way through the ocean." We've go the classic, "How is this real life" reaction. ALSO, we have to talk about the exploding straw thing. NBC/ I guess my newest fear has been unlocked.
