Israeli drone kills one in southern Lebanon

Shafaq News/ An Israeli drone strike targeted a civilian vehicle in the southern Lebanese town of Ain Baal near Tyre on Wednesday, killing one person, according to Lebanon's Ministry of Health. — Ministry of Public Health - Lebanon (@mophleb) May 21, 2025 The vehicle was completely engulfed in flames following the strike, which occurred near a pharmacy and the Al-Taakhi Health Center, sparking panic among residents. Civil defense extinguished the fire, while security forces cordoned off the area. Local media outlets reported that the victim is believed to be a Hezbollah member from the Borji family, originally from the neighboring town of Ramadiyah. However, Hezbollah had not issued an official statement. On Tuesday, another drone strike targeted a motorcycle in the town of al-Mansouri in the Tyre district, injuring nine. Since the ceasefire began in November 2024, Lebanon's Health Ministry has documented more than 3,000 Israeli violations, resulting in 201 deaths and over 500 injuries.

Two killed, 10 injured in Israeli airstrike on Lebanon's Beqaa

Shafaq News/ An Israeli airstrike on the town of Janta in Beqaa Valley, eastern Lebanon, killed two people and injured 10 others, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health announced on Friday. Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated that "the Israeli Air Force, acting on intelligence directives, targeted several Hezbollah sites in the Beqaa region,' citing threats to Israeli security. According to Adraee, the strikes hit an underground facility used for weapons development and production, as well as infrastructure linked to arms smuggling along the Lebanese-Syrian border. Lebanese sources reported that the airstrike occurred early Friday morning (local time) near the border, with Israeli warplanes striking areas between Janta and Al-Shaara in eastern Lebanon. Additionally, an Israeli airstrike targeted a truck in Wadi Khaled, a border region in northern Lebanon's Akkar Governorate, according to press reports. #غارة_جنتا - #البقاع صدر عن مركز عمليات طوارئ الصحة العامة التابع لوزارة الصحة العامة بيان أعلن أن غارة العدو الإسرائيلي على جنتا - البقاع أدت في حصيلة نهائية إلى سقوط شهيدين وإصابة عشرة أشخاص بجروح. — Ministry of Public Health - Lebanon (@mophleb) January 31, 2025 The attack comes despite a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States and France on November 27, 2024, aimed at ending hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. The war, which escalated in October 2023, intensified further in September 2024 following Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon, resulting in over 4,000 Lebanese casualties and the displacement of more than a million people. Under the ceasefire terms, Israel agreed to withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon within 60 days, while Hezbollah committed to repositioning north of the Litani River. A five-nation monitoring panel, led by the United States, was established to oversee compliance, alongside the deployment of 5,000 Lebanese troops to maintain stability. The agreement also included a self-defense clause allowing limited military actions under specific conditions. While the ceasefire has largely held, violations have been reported. As of January 2025, Israel has allegedly breached the agreement more than 50 times, resulting in at least 15 fatalities, including a Lebanese Army officer. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently suggested that Israel's troop withdrawal might extend beyond the agreed 60-day timeline due to security concerns, a move that has drawn sharp criticism. Lebanese officials view the delay as a violation of sovereignty, while Hezbollah has condemned it as an act of aggression.

Martyrs, Injuries as Israeli Enemy Strikes Lebanon's Bekaa in a New Ceasefire Violation

Two people were martyred and ten others were injured early on Friday, in a new Israeli aggression on Lebanon, this time of the eastern region of Bekaa. 'The strike by the Israeli enemy on Janta killed two people and wounded 10,' Lebanese Health Ministry announced on Friday. — Ministry of Public Health – Lebanon (@mophleb) January 31, 2025 The village of Janta area lies close to the Syrian border and the area was already hit by Israeli strikes on January 13. ٥ غارات في البقاع على السلسلة الشرقية للبنان من ضمنها أعالي جنتا — مصدر مسؤول (@fouadkhreiss) January 31, 2025 Israeli occupation army claimed the attack on Bekaa's Janta, alleging that the targets which were struck include a 'Hezbollah site containing underground infrastructure.' However, the occupation army said it 'continues to remain committed to the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon.' The Israeli enemy has been violating the ceasefire with Lebanon since it took effect on November 27, with the occupation army launching aerial and ground attacks targeting several areas across Lebanon, especially the southern region and Bekaa. The Israeli enemy was supposed to complete its army's withdrawal from Lebanon by January 26 under the ceasefire. However, it refused to do so, prompting the Lebanese southerners to flock into southern border villages on that day and liberate a number of towns in epic confrontations that left at least 24 martyrs on Sunday and Monday (January 26-27).. The withdrawal deadline was then extended to February 18, a move that was announced by Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister, and categorically refused by Hezbollah, as declared by Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem during a televised speech on Monday (January 27).
