Eagles uniforms: Ranking Philadelphia's six combinations from best to worst

USA Today4 days ago
With Eagles' training camp now just days away, we're ranking Philadelphia's six uniform combinations.
In 2023, the Eagles unveiled the long-awaited Kelly Green throwback alternate uniforms, which are now worn at least twice a season. Philadelphia released an All-Black helmet in 2022 to help appease fans. Still, thanks to a ruling on the all-black alternate uniforms, the Kelly Green and five other looks will become a fixture in the uniform combinations at Lincoln Financial Field.
The NFL updated its uniform policy to allow teams to wear throwback or alternate uniforms up to four times per season.
The Eagles have been in business since 1933, when original team owner Bert Bell and the original head coach, Lud Wray, purchased the former Frankford Yellow Jackets, an American football team that was part of the NFL.
With training camp now just days away, we're ranking Philadelphia's six uniform combinations.
1. Kelly Green
Before 2023, the 2010 season was the last time Philadelphia wore Kelly Green jerseys (and helmets). Shortly after, the NFL implemented a rule that teams could only have one color as a safety precaution. That rule has been amended several times since then, and the Eagles and 31 other teams are allowed four alternate helmets. The Kelly Green look may never replace Midnight Green officially for home games, but it's clearly the best colorway.
2. White Jersey, black pants
Before unveiling the white jersey, black pants look against the Broncos in 2021; Philadelphia had usually gone white on white, white on green, or all black for uniform colorways. It's worn the least, and they did it again in 2023 against the Jets, but the white jersey top and black pants have to be utilized more.
3. All Black
Thanks to new rules, Philadelphia has an all-black helmet to go with their all-black uniforms.
4. Midnight Green Jersey, white pants
Philadelphia's standard home colorway of midnight green jerseys and white pants lands at No. 4 on the list.
5. White jerseys, green pants
The white jersey and midnight green pants look smooth but are overshadowed by more pristine colorways.
6. All Whites
The all-white look is smooth and would be enhanced by a whiteout at Lincoln Financial Field, providing a collegiate feel for a night game.

Shedeur Sanders on not getting first-team reps with Browns in training camp: 'It's not in my control'

With NFL training camps well underway, rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is getting some reps with the Cleveland Browns in practice. Though Sanders has not been working much with the Browns' first-team offense, the rookie says that he's not thinking about it too hard. Sanders is one of four quarterbacks competing for Cleveland's starting job, alongside veteran Joe Flacco, fourth-year player Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. Although all four offer different things, Flacco and Pickett have been primarily working with the first team in training camp, while the two rookies work with backups. When asked why he didn't think he was getting first-team reps, Sanders said that he wasn't thinking about that. "That's not my place to answer," Sanders told reporters on Friday, via ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi. "I feel like it's not in my control, so I'm not even gonna think about that or have that even in my thought process." He also emphasized his gratitude to be training with Cleveland at all — a direct contrast to the bluster that seemed to trigger his stunning slide in the NFL draft. "There's a lot of people that wanna have the opportunity to be at this level, and I'm here, and I'm thankful to have the opportunity, so, whatever that is it is," Sanders added. As a result of the abundance of quarterbacks, Sanders has also been spotted practicing with members of the Browns' equipment team. But Sanders said that the targets didn't "faze" him, citing his meandering college career between Jackson State and Colorado. "It doesn't really faze me. You gotta understand, we came all the way from an HBCU to a Power 5 (conference team), and now we here, so," Sanders said, via Oyefusi. "At this point you look around, there's nothing that's a challenge, I would say." Meanwhile, Sanders has other things to deal with as well: The rookie was cited for speeding in June after allegedly driving over 100 miles per hour on a Cleveland highway. But on Friday, Sanders seemed in good spirits on the issue. "I really don't even drive that much anymore," Sanders said with a laugh, via NFL reporter Andrew Siciliano. "I hope everybody learn from my situation, you know, to not drive fast at all." Also, via Siciliano, Sanders misses living near his brother, Shilo — at least partially because he misses Shilo's juicer. Who's in the lead for the Browns' starting QB job? The Browns' quarterback room is one of the oddest in the NFL, and the lack of a clear depth chart is affecting the dynamic. Flacco, despite being the most veteran player in the room, has chafed at the idea of being a mentor to the younger QBs; Gabriel and Sanders, as the two rookies, are trying to find a way to break through. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters this week that all four of the quarterbacks have played well, and that they want to make a decision on who will start "sooner than later." In the meantime, tracking the four players' reps has been an easy way to try and gauge who might end up where on Cleveland's quarterback list. Drills this week have featured a rotation — Pickett, Flacco, Gabriel, Sanders — that points to the potential order. Additionally, in seven-on-seven practices on Wednesday (the Browns' first day of camp), Sanders was the only player to miss more than one of his throws, going 3-for-8. That performance may have something to do with why he's not getting as many first-team reps.

Guard Justin Pugh announces his retirement after 11 NFL seasons with the Giants and Cardinals

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Longtime NFL guard Justin Pugh announced Friday he is retiring after playing 11 seasons with the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals. Pugh returned to Giants training camp to call it a career a few weeks before his 35th birthday with his wife, daughter and mother among those in attendance. The Syracuse product from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, played in 134 regular-season and playoff games from 2012-23. 'Even though I never dreamed of being an offensive lineman, it was my calling,' Pugh said. 'I was built to work alongside other guys. I was built to be part of a five-man unit that had to work as one.' Pugh spent his first five years as a pro with New York, then five with Arizona. He tore the ACL in his right knee in 2022 and returned for 12 more games with the Giants in 2023. 'Thought I was going to do another one,' Pugh said. 'Just didn't have it in the tank.' Pugh has already dabbled in sports media, doing YouTube videos last season from attending Thursday night games and hosting on SiriusXM NFL Radio. ___ AP NFL:

Chiefs 2026 scouting report: USC Trojans S Kamari Ramsey

The Kansas City Chiefs enter 2025 with both projected starting safeties on rookie contracts. Staying cheap at a lower value position is a smart way to extend pillars of the franchise on lucrative deals, but not investing significant resources into replacing Justin Reid comes with drawbacks. The Chiefs should evaluate safeties in the 2026 NFL draft. Kansas City needs to invest in a safety, even if two-year starter Bryan Cook and 2024 fourth round pick Jaden Hicks deliver quality play this season. Cook and backups Deon Bush and Mike Edwards all become unrestricted free agents next offseason. That leaves Hicks, who played fewer than 350 defensive snaps as a rookie, and nickel-safety hybrid Chamarri Conner as Kansas City's lone meaningful safeties signed beyond this year. USC's Kamari Ramsey had second round tape in 2024 but elected to return to school rather than enter the draft. He enters the new season only trailing Ohio State's Caleb Downs in the 2026 draft's safety rankings. Ramsey's pre- and post-snap processing put him a level above most safeties in the college ranks. He anticipates and attacks screens or shallow passes, preventing offenses from picking up easy yardage. Ramsey diagnoses route concepts quickly and triggers downhill to limit yards after the catch or deliver fierce hits that force incompletions. Ramsey matched up with Penn State superstar Tyler Warren last year and made a pair of goal line tackles in space to prevent touchdowns deep in the red zone. He matches up with tight ends in space too. Ramsey's fast footwork, natural acceleration and quick transitions make him a sticky coverage option. Ramsey survives in brief stints of man coverage, but he's at his best operating in zone in Cover 2 or Cover 3. His awareness, downhill burst and instincts help him pinch throwing lanes or jump routes for interceptions. Ramsey makes clutch tackles in space, but his down-to-down aggression in run defense is inconsistent. His average, 6'0", 204 lb. build took some damage in 2024 that made him appear a bit hesitant to stick his nose into the low box. However, he runs the alley and puts plays away when his team needs a stop. This article originally appeared on Chiefs Wire: 2026 NFL draft scouting report: USC Trojans S Kamari Ramsey
