A love letter for every Eagles fan whose heart beats Midnight Green
One city, one team, and another shot at glory. It's been nearly six months since the Philadelphia Eagles pummeled the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. So much has changed, and at the same time, so much has remained recognizable and familiar. Nick Sirianni is still here. So is every offensive starter from last season's run, minus the aforementioned Mekhi Becton. There was a shift at the offensive coordinator position. Kellen Moore is gone. Kevin Patullo got promoted, leaving most of the questions on defense. Gone are starters like C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Darius Slay, and Josh Sweat, but other cornerstones like Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith remain. Vic Fangio returns for year two as defensive coordinator. What he did to repair the damage done by Sean Desai and Matt Patricia last season was nothing short of amazing. He's going to be around for as long as he'd like to be. He has communicated that he's no longer interested in potential head-coaching jobs, so even though the defense was raided, it isn't the punctured unit that so many keep trying to predict it will be. In addition to those previously mentioned, essential role players like Oren Burks, Milton Williams, Avonte Maddox, and Isaiah Rodgers. We'll miss every one of them, but we've also learned Philadelphia can win if each of them is absent. The Birds will be fine. Sure, it's tough to replace all of those guys at the same time, but Philadelphia will press on. We just need to learn about some of the new guys: who they are, how they will play, and how they will blend with the fan base and city. So, welcome to Jihaad Campbell and Andrew Mukuba. To Ty Robinson, Mac McWilliams, Smael Mondon, and Antwaun Powell-Ryland, we say welcome. We welcome Azeez Ojulari, Adoree' Jackson, Josh Uche, and Ogbo Okoronkwo. We would like to extend a warm welcome back to Patrick Johnson. Welcome back to training camp, the preseason, and eventually the 93rd season in franchise history. Welcome back to the best atmosphere in sports. Welcome back to Lincoln Financial Field and those black, Kelly Green, and Midnight Green jerseys. Greatness awaits. Hopefully, another deep playoff run awaits as well. The world's best fans will be watching. Expect them to celebrate when this team does its best. Expect correction when they feel like this team doesn't. This is a team full of characters with character. They're heroes. They're role models. They're family, and they're the defending champions, even if they don't want to be called that. To our Birds, we extend our gratitude for the 2024-25 campaign, and we wish you a great season.

Eagles Super Bowl hero defends Jalen Hurts from the recent Cam Newton onslaught
Torrey Smith has had about enough of the Jalen Hurts disrespect from Cam Newton. Take the emotion out of the Jalen Hurts discussion, listen with a receptive ear, and what you hear will no doubt seem rather strange. Many of the pundits who rate him lowly often dedicate exorbitant amounts of time to defending their stance on why they refuse to value the Philadelphia Eagles star more highly. Take Chris Simms. He has often questioned Hurts' value. He did so again recently, yet each explanation of his quarterback rankings plays out similarly. Simms often won't discuss why he ranks his favored quarterbacks highly. He instead focuses on why Hurts is ranked so low. Cam Newton has followed a similar style recently. He, too, recently questioned Hurts' value. That one was surprising, but following the backlash, rather than rethinking his stance, he instead doubled down. So, again... If Hurts is this bad, why not make the statement and move on? Why do the detractors always feel the need to spend so much time defending why they said what they said? Torrey Smith comes to Jalen Hurts' defense. Torrey Smith spent one season with the Philadelphia Eagles, and doggone it, he made it count. He walked away a Super Bowl champion for the second time in his career, but he still has love for the Midnight Green. Smith, if you're curious, has heard what Cam Newton said. Like most, he disagrees. "Jalen is the only qb that gets punished because he has a competent GM. Jalen does his job with what he has. Every other GM is trying to put their qb in the same situation as Jalen Hurts. Superhero ball is overrated. You can win because HE is your QB!" We couldn't have said it better ourselves. Only in Jalen Hurts' case do we punish a quarterback for having great teammates. No one punishes Joe Montana because he teamed with Jerry Rice. No one punishes Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers because there were so many elite coaches on Mike Holmgren's staff. Hurts shouldn't have to apologize for teaming with Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, A.J. Brown, and Howie Roseman. Will the doubters ever learn? Though he'll never admit it, this will be used for the coming season. That's excellent news for Eagles fans and the Philadelphia media. That's horrible news for everyone else. It's year six for Jalen Hurts and year five of the Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts era as head coach and quarterback. Everyone had better buckle up.

Eagles uniforms: Ranking Philadelphia's six combinations from best to worst
With Eagles' training camp now just days away, we're ranking Philadelphia's six uniform combinations. In 2023, the Eagles unveiled the long-awaited Kelly Green throwback alternate uniforms, which are now worn at least twice a season. Philadelphia released an All-Black helmet in 2022 to help appease fans. Still, thanks to a ruling on the all-black alternate uniforms, the Kelly Green and five other looks will become a fixture in the uniform combinations at Lincoln Financial Field. The NFL updated its uniform policy to allow teams to wear throwback or alternate uniforms up to four times per season. The Eagles have been in business since 1933, when original team owner Bert Bell and the original head coach, Lud Wray, purchased the former Frankford Yellow Jackets, an American football team that was part of the NFL. With training camp now just days away, we're ranking Philadelphia's six uniform combinations. 1. Kelly Green Before 2023, the 2010 season was the last time Philadelphia wore Kelly Green jerseys (and helmets). Shortly after, the NFL implemented a rule that teams could only have one color as a safety precaution. That rule has been amended several times since then, and the Eagles and 31 other teams are allowed four alternate helmets. The Kelly Green look may never replace Midnight Green officially for home games, but it's clearly the best colorway. 2. White Jersey, black pants Before unveiling the white jersey, black pants look against the Broncos in 2021; Philadelphia had usually gone white on white, white on green, or all black for uniform colorways. It's worn the least, and they did it again in 2023 against the Jets, but the white jersey top and black pants have to be utilized more. 3. All Black Thanks to new rules, Philadelphia has an all-black helmet to go with their all-black uniforms. 4. Midnight Green Jersey, white pants Philadelphia's standard home colorway of midnight green jerseys and white pants lands at No. 4 on the list. 5. White jerseys, green pants The white jersey and midnight green pants look smooth but are overshadowed by more pristine colorways. 6. All Whites The all-white look is smooth and would be enhanced by a whiteout at Lincoln Financial Field, providing a collegiate feel for a night game.

Eagles Add Former Clemson Standout Who Grew Up Bleeding Midnight Green
Eagles Add Former Clemson Standout Who Grew Up Bleeding Midnight Green originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Marcus Tate wasn't selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. But on Monday, he got the call that mattered most—from the team he's been rooting for since he was a kid. Advertisement The Philadelphia Eagles announced they've officially signed Tate as an undrafted free agent, bringing the former Clemson standout full circle in a storybook moment. Tate, who grew up in Sunrise, Florida, posted a heartfelt photo on social media shortly after inking the deal—a childhood picture of himself holding up an Eagles jersey. The caption read: 'Nawwww if y'all know me, this really means some, been rocking with the birds since day one I don't play bout them.' Tate (6-5, 321 pounds) was a tryout player at Philadelphia's rookie minicamp earlier this spring. After showing enough promise despite his injury history, the Eagles rewarded him with a contract, making him the second tryout player to earn a spot this offseason, joining wide receiver Giles Jackson from Washington. Advertisement A four-year contributor at Clemson, Tate played in 42 games with 37 starts and logged 2,502 offensive snaps—primarily at left guard, with occasional reps at tackle. He was named a second-team All-ACC selection in 2024 and became just the third true freshman offensive lineman in Clemson history to start a season opener, which came against Georgia in 2021. Tate underwent reconstructive surgery on his MCL and MPFL after the 2024 season, opting to play through the pain for his teammates during Clemson's run to the College Football Playoff. 'I wanted to finish the season,' Tate told TigerNet. 'I gave us the best chance to be successful, and I wanted to do whatever I could to be on the field with my guys… We had a great year.' Advertisement NFL evaluators like Dane Brugler and Lance Zierlein still saw enough talent in Tate to project him as a late-round pick, but his inability to participate in pre-draft workouts left his evaluation incomplete. Now healthy, Tate will compete with a young group of offensive linemen in Philadelphia that includes fellow rookies Drew Kendall, Myles Hinton, Cameron Williams, and Hollin Pierce. But for Tate, this signing is more than a chance to prove himself—it's a lifelong dream realized. From holding an Eagles jersey as a kid to suiting up at the NovaCare Complex, Marcus Tate's story just added its most meaningful chapter yet. Predicting which game the Eagles will wear their alternate Kelly Green uniforms
We've known the opponents since late January, and now we know the dates and times for all 17 Philadelphia Eagles regular-season games. Philadelphia announced its 2025 schedule on Wednesday night. They will face the gauntlet of juggernauts in the NFC North and AFC West and division winners in the NFC West, AFC East, and NFC South. Advertisement One key aspect of the schedule release is predicting wins and losses, and when the team will wear alternate all-black or Kelly Green uniforms. Philadelphia has one of the top uniform combinations in the NFL, and if DeVonta Smith had his way, the Midnight Green home jersey would become an alternate or throwback. Fans and Eagles players have clamored for a jersey switch, and while the Kelly Green isn't likely to become a permanent norm, it could be worn more often. Back in March, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reported that the NFL is updating its uniform policy to allow teams to wear throwback or alternate uniforms up to four times per season. Philadelphia last regularly wore Kelly Green jerseys (and helmets) in the 2010 season. Shortly after, the NFL implemented a rule requiring teams to have only one color as a safety precaution. The Eagles will now have Kelly Green and the all black helmet and uniform combinations going forward. Advertisement With that news and the schedule complete, we're predicting when Philly will wear Kelly Green throwbacks in games. Week 1: Thursday, September 4: Home vs. Dallas Cowboys at 8:20 PM (NBC^) The most in-demand game on the 2025 NFL schedule, the Eagles will raise a Super Bowl banner and kickoff the season at home against the Dallas Cowboys. A throwback feel is appropriate. Week 8: Sunday, October 26: Home vs. New York Giants at 1 PM+ (FOX) The Giants have retooled, added Russell Wilson at quarterback, and Abdul Carter in the NFL draft. This is the second of two meetings, and throwback jerseys for both teams are appropriate. Week 15: Sunday, December 14: Home vs. Las Vegas Raiders at 1 PM+ (FOX) Ashton Jeanty, Geno Smith, and Chip Kelly will lead a retooled Raider offense into Lincoln Financial Field.
