Now, Sky Sports claims that Celtic have agreed a fee in the region of £250,000 to sign the player.
A left-sided defender, it remains to be seen what Inamura's role in Brendan Rodgers' squad will look like.
His impending arrival comes amid the departure of full-back Greg Taylor.
His six-year Celtic stay ended on Tuesday as he joined Greek top-flight side PAOK.
Opening up on his Parkhead exit, Taylor told Sky Sports: "It's probably the toughest decision I have had in my career.
"When I left Kilmarnock in 2019 it was that bit easier, I was progressing and I wanted to go and play for the biggest team in Scotland.
"At that time, there probably wasn't many who believed I would play as many games as I did, but the one person who really did was myself. I was lucky to go and play 200 plus games for Celtic which was unbelievable.
"So, it wasn't easy - there was a million things to weigh up - but I just felt it was the right time to do it. I wanted to play regularly, and that is probably the big factor."

I battled Odsonne Edouard when I played against Celtic and now I'm about to square up to Hoops in the dugout

The Queen's Park boss reckons his players facing the Hoops in Friday's friendly will prepare them for the energy-sapping Championship Sean Crighton had the unenviable task of marking Odsonne Edouard and his Celtic pals during Brendan Rodgers' first stint in Glasgow. Now the Queen's Park boss reckons his players facing the Hoops in Friday's friendly will prepare them for the energy-sapping Championship. ‌ Former stopper Crighton, 35, faced Celtic with Brechin and Airdrie and will do battle with them again this evening when he invites Rodgers and co to Lesser Hampden. ‌ He said: 'We need to know where the players are at. 'You're playing a dominant team in terms of having the ball, so it'll show us where we're at fitness-wise as well. It's going to be a really good test. 'I want the players to be prepared for what's coming and what's real. 'We've got all the data we can look at as well and go, 'Look how much we ran against Celtic and how much we ran against an opposition in the Championship or League Cup'. 'As a player, you thrive – it's an automatic thing. You would love to say to players you should be like that all the time but unfortunately they're not. ‌ 'When you come up against a Celtic or a bigger opposition, you want to give it your all. They've got a young squad as well, they might catch the eye. 'For me, that means their concentration is better and they've got that wee bit of smartness about them. ‌ 'I really enjoyed playing against Celtic. I was playing the first time against Edouard when he was a young boy coming from Paris St-Germain, then you play against Oli Burke. 'It's a tough test but it's good for the players to experience that as well because I know Celtic will be strong, which we're looking forward to.' ‌ Queen's have long been linked with a tie-up with Celtic. Asked if tonight could help that process, Crighton added: 'It can certainly help. "It's been rumoured for a few months that we've been in talks with Celtic. Until it's all finalised, we just don't know.' Livingston boss targets 'one more' summer signing and says they're in good shape

David Martindale hints that others may move on as he eyes a new face David Martindale is looking at bringing in one more player, having bolstered his Livingston squad with 11 signings so far this summer. Martindale is well aware pundits will make them favourites for relegation, having dropped down to the Championship last season and bounced back up via the play-offs. ‌ But he says the experience he and his players have will guard against that. ‌ Returning defender Danny Wilson, Macaulay Tait coming back on loan from Hearts, and the signing of midfielder Mo Sylla has Martindale in a happy place. That adds to defender Shane Blaney, right-back Cammy Kerr, midfielder Graham Carey, wingers Connor McLennan, Jannik Wanner and Aphelele Teto, and strikers Zak Rudden and Stevie May. Martindale said: 'The three boys late on in the window there have really added strength to the group. Wee Macaulay Tait, Danny Wilson and Mo Sylla, I think the three of them have been really top signings. 'I feel as if we're in a good place. There are probably two or three boys moving on, which might open the door for another one coming in but if the window was to shut tomorrow, I'd say we're in a fairly good place. 'We're not a million miles away, but there's always going to be one or two who are looking for game-time that might, so you're always open to bringing another one in, if that situation arises.' ‌ Martindale was speaking from their training camp in the Netherlands, where Livi will play friendlies against Greek side Aris FC today (Thursday) and KV Kortrijk of Belgium on Saturday. He said: 'It's really good. The boys are all gelling well, they're in a good place, fitness-wise. Temperatures are extremely hot, the same as all of Europe, but they've trained really well. 'It's different in the heat, but we're playing against two good teams. I'm looking forward to it.' ‌ Livingston beat Alloa 3-1 in a friendly on Saturday, with strikes from Robbie Muirhead and Reece McAlear, and a spectacular 50-plus yards strike by Stevie May. Purring Martindale said: 'It was a great goal, good pressing from wee Macaulay. The counter-press got the ball back and Stevie hit one from about 10 yards inside his own half, it was a great finish. 'To be fair to Stevie, he's come back in fantastic condition. He's surprised me, in a really positive way. He's right up the top of the running stats and in a good place.'
