This swish, award-winning bathhouse has finally opened right off Melbourne's Chapel Street

It's no secret that Melburnians love recreational bathing. Whether it be at one of our city's many bathhouses and spas or at world-class hot springs resorts across the state, we love feeling a little luxe and taking a relaxing dip. So as you can imagine, when we heard that Melbourne is gaining another swanky bathhouse, we were very excited.
The award-winning Soak Bathhouse has just opened its latest iteration in the heart of South Yarra. The lush oasis offers mineral bathing in huge pools, hot spas, a dry cedarwood sauna, a steam room and cold plunge pools, all nestled amongst lush, leafy greenery. Plus, you can also treat yo' self to additional wellness treatments like infrared saunas, LED facials and full-body massages. We can feel the tension melting away from our shoulders already.
Soak has already opened two bathhouses in Brisbane and the Gold Coast (where it was awarded the Best of Queensland Experience Award by Tourism Queensland), along with another one in Alexandria in Sydney. The Melbourne location is one of the largest bathhouses yet, spanning 700 square metres.
Soak Bathhouse owner Niki Dean said with the Melbourne venue located just behind Chapel Street, it will offer a relaxing oasis to escape the busy city.
'Our goal is to provide a space where people can come together, relax and build meaningful connections,' says Dean. 'Whether it's a solo visit to unwind after a long day or a social outing with friends, Soak Bathhouse offers a versatile environment that caters to various wellness needs.
'The expansion to Melbourne marks an exciting chapter for Soak Bathhouse, as we continue to grow and bring our distinctive concept of micro-doses of wellness to more cities.'

Melbourne is the second most diverse and inclusive city in the world, according to locals

Here at Time Out Melbourne, it's easy to assume that our beloved city is a friendly space where diversity and inclusivity are welcomed. After all, Melbourne is a thriving metropolis that prides itself on being highly liveable, with cool neighbourhoods and streets that are home to various cuisines, communities and cultures. But sometimes it's good to get that confirmation from others, and off the back of Time Out's huge annual survey, we can reveal that locals themselves actually consider Melbourne the second most diverse and inclusive city in the whole world. The survey asked 18,500 city-dwellers what they think of their hometown's transport, food, nightlife, green spaces and more. But all of this is pointless if people don't actually feel welcome, so we also wanted to find out whether they would describe their city as 'diverse' and 'inclusive' too. Melburnians responded in an overwhelmingly positive fashion, with 77 per cent of people agreeing with the sentiment. The city that (just!) nabbed the crown ahead of Melbourne was London, with 78 per cent of locals deeming the UK capital diverse and inclusive. And look, we get it – with a long history as a hub of immigration and around 300 languages spoken, it's a true representation of what a modern, multicultural city looks like. Rounding out the rest of the top five were Brighton (also in the UK) and New York City tied for third, followed by Los Angeles and Chicago, respectively. So what are some of the factors that make our city worthy of the silver medal? Melbourne – aka Naarm – is located on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong Boon Wurrung peoples, and boasts a rich First Nations history. There are many ways you can learn more and immerse yourself in this culture, including through walking tours or exhibitions like Wurrdha Marra and 65,000 Years: A Short History of Australian Art. And let's not forget the culinary influence of Melbourne's many international communities. Box Hill is known for its abundance of fantastic Chinese restaurants, while Footscray boasts some epic bánh mì spots thanks to its large Vietnamese population. Oakleigh is the Greek heartland for souvas and gyros, and recent waves of migration from Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon have culminated in a mushrooming of West African eateries. Add in a stacked line-up of festivals and events, a proud and ever-growing queer community (Melbourne was even voted the fourth most LGBTQIA+-friendly city in the world in 2022), and a thriving nightlife scene – and we're not surprised that locals would consider our capital a place where everyone is welcome to show up and be their most authentic selves. So, come as you are – Melbourne is open to all. These are the most diverse and inclusive cities in the world: London, UK Melbourne, Australia Brighton, UK = New York, USA Los Angeles, USA Chicago, USA Madrid, Spain Barcelona, Spain Bangkok, Thailand Johannesburg, South Africa = Cape Town, South Africa Montreal, Canada = Medellin, Colombia = Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia = San Francisco, USA This Melbourne university has been named in the world's top 20 for 2026, beating out Yale and Princeton

The campaign, which was launched earlier this year, is designed to help holiday makers and families get the most out of their self-catering accommodation with easy to cook nutritious, delicious recipes. Dean, who owns six restaurants in Scotland and was a finalist on the hit BBC One cooking show Professional MasterChef, spent the day cooking several dishes in one of the 2-bedroom signature lodges overlooking Loch Tay. In just 40-minutes, Dean had cooked a delicious dish of Harissa lamb, minted lamb potatoes and a Greek salad, using the lodges well equipped kitchen. These fine dining kits are the perfect combination of culinary artistry, passion and practicality and super quick and easy to cook in a holiday lodge or caravan. Dean demonstrated how easy it is to prepare a delicious 3-course meal using his 'Best of Land and Sea' meal kit featuring Dressed Crab with Spicy Mango Slaw & Asian Dressing, Native Dressed Lobster, Seaweed Potatoes & Mirin Butter Sauce and a Dry-Aged Beef Sirloin, XO Sauce, Seared Seasonal Greens & Smoked Mayonnaise. For his third dish Dean showed off the newest edition to his Haar at Home meal kits with the luxurious Seafood Boil Kit. The kit includes everything you need to create your very own seafood boil experience whilst on holiday: dive into mussels, fresh prawns and brown crab; succulent smoked sausage; roasted veggies; potatoes simmered away in the broth that's absolutely bursting full of flavour; and super rich and delicious spiced butter for dipping! It even includes a paper tablecloth, aprons, bibs and seafood tools so that you can enjoy the authentic seafood boil experience. Dean's day at Loch Tay Highland Lodges was captured on camera and will be released as a series of cooking tutorials and top cooking tips on Largo Leisure's social media channels as part of the 'Carry on Cooking' campaign. Dean commented: 'I wanted to be part of this campaign to show just how quickly and easy it is to prepare really great meals in a self-catering holiday home. It doesn't have to be time consuming or expensive, you just need a few ingredients you can get at pretty much any supermarket to create delicious meals all the family can enjoy. I have given some tips on what you can cook when glamping if you only have access to a firepit or BBQ, what you can create on a 2-ring hob without an oven and my favourite quick dessert Banoffee Pie. 'This was my first time at Loch Tay Highland Lodges and the views from the lodge were absolutely stunning. It certainly provided the perfect backdrop for cooking and enjoying some fantastic Scottish seafood. Out meal kits are designed to be quick and easy to prepare so perfect for when you are on holiday but want a bit of a treat. I hope the tutorials and top tips will provide people going on self-catering holidays with some culinary inspiration.' We are so grateful to Dean for giving up his time to help make our guests feel more confident in preparing meals during their stays without spending a fortune on shopping and hours debating what to cook. I can't wait to see the cooking tutorials on our socials and hope to pick up a few tips myself.' Largo Leisure have worked with a number of influencers as part of the campaign and will be creating and releasing a digital recipe book exclusively for guests later this year.
