Delhi announces CM Shri school admission test for Classes 6-8, releases full guidelines
The entrance test will be OMR-based, objective-type, and conducted in Hindi and English, covering five sections -- Hindi, English, General Awareness, Mental Ability, and Numerical Aptitude.The test will run for 150 minutes, and additional time will be provided for Children With Special Needs (CWSN).No negative marking will be applied. Test centres will be set up across schools under the Directorate to ensure accessibility.RESERVATIONS AND RELAXATIONSThe test is open to students residing in Delhi and currently enroled in a recognised Delhi-based school for the year 2025-26.As per the guidelines, at least 50 percent of seats will be reserved for students from government or government-aided schools, including DoE, MCD, NDMC, KVs, and JNVs.A 5 percent relaxation in eligibility marks will be granted to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) students and CWSN, following existing government policy.FUTURE-READY SMART SCHOOLS UNDER NEP 2020CM Shri schools are being established as model public institutions aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework 2023.According to officials, the schools will include AI-enabled libraries, AR/VR-powered smart classrooms, robotics labs, smartboards, biometric attendance, and zero-waste, solar-powered infrastructure.In her budget speech, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta allocated Rs 100 crore to this flagship initiative, which mirrors the central government's PM Shri scheme.The Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) will be phased out, with CM Shri schools shifting to CBSE affiliation.(With inputs from PTI)- Ends

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said the leaders like US President Donald Trump will get a befitting reply when India becomes the world's third-largest economy. The chief minister asserted the nation is no longer dependent on the United States for exports and global recognition. "The whole world is standing with open arms to do business with India. People like Trump will get a befitting reply when we develop and rise," said Gupta addressing the silver jubilee celebration of the Patparganj CPE Study Circle. "If we all work together then it will not take time to become the third-largest largest economy from fourth number. Our exports are not dependent on America," she added. Underlining the importance of self-reliance, Gupta said, "We must become self-dependent so that whatever we consume benefits our own people." The chief minister also highlighted the role of chartered accountants (CAs) and called them the government's "army". "All the 30,000 CAs in Delhi are my army who encourage everyone to pay their taxes faithfully. Whenever there's a GST raid, the first call goes to a CA. They help ensure tax compliance," she said. Gupta announced plans to launch a new scheme to allow citizens to settle old tax dues without hassle. It would be a one-time opportunity, she said, adding that chartered accountants would play a pivotal role in its execution. "We are working towards making the tax-paying system completely faceless. People shouldn't fear the government. We are eliminating the need for multiple licenses and simplifying systems," she said. The chief minister said the public trust in chartered accountants is similar to that in doctors. "No government campaign can be as effective as a CA's word. People trust their CA and do what they say," she added. Gupta also stressed the need to end under the table transactions and build a governance model that encourages honesty and transparency.

TMC furious after Delhi Police seeks translator for 'Bangladeshi language' Bangla, Mahua asks ‘how dare you'
A row erupted after the Trinamool Congress claimed Delhi Police has labelled Bangla as a "Bangladeshi language." In a letter shared on X, TMC shared a letter written by Delhi Police, seeking a translator for texts written in Bangladeshi. In a video on X, TMC MP Mahua Moitra also questioned the move and accused the Home Ministry of erasing one of the 22 official and 11 classical languages.(PTI) "The identification documents contain texts written in Bangladeshi and are needed to be translated to Hindi and English. Now, for the investigation to proceed further it is requested that an official translator/interpreter in Bangladeshi national language may kindly be provided," reads the letter issued from Lodhi Colony police station to Banga Bhawan. The letter, which has now been widely circulated on social media, has triggered backlash, mainly from the All India Trinamool Congress. TMC fumes at Delhi Police's letter "Bengali, our mother tongue, the language of Rabindranath Tagore and Swami Vivekananda, the language in which our National Anthem and the National Song (the latter by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay) are written, the language in which crores of Indians speak and write, the language which is sanctified and recognised by the Constitution of India, is now described as a Bangladeshi language!! " read a post shared by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. This row comes amid the ongoing dispute over third language in the country. The TMC has accused the Home Ministry of "delegitimising" one of the mother tongues of the country. In a video on X, TMC MP Mahua Moitra also questioned the move and accused the Home Ministry of erasing one of the 22 official and 11 classical languages. 'Bangla is spoken by 25 crore people globally. It is one of 22 constitutionally recognised languages in India... To call this a Bangladeshi language on official documentation is a calculated action. We demand an unconditional apology from the Delhi Police,' said Moitra on X. As TMC continues to fume over the letter, MP Kunal Ghosh has accused the BJP of pushing an anti-Bengali agenda. "@AmitShah's @DelhiPolice is deliberately targeting the Bengali language. By falsely branding Bengali as a "Bangladeshi language" — the @BJP4India is pushing its anti-Bengali agenda to DANGEROUS EXTREMES," the TMC MP was quoted as saying at a press conference on Sunday.
