Willie Anderson denied Hall of Fame again -- but with a positive twist
A finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the fourth straight time, Cincinnati Bengals legend Willie Anderson was again denied at the gates.
The news was revealed at the NFL Honors on Thursday night.

There is a small silver lining this time. As Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com pointed out, a close voting result means Anderson is automatically one of the 15 finalists for next year's class.
Otherwise, a recent change to the voting procedure to keep the Hall of Fame "elite" produced the smallest class in 20 years.

In his 12th year of eligibility, Anderson continued to look like a top snub. He arrived in 1996 as a PFWA All-Rookie and went on to be a first-team All-Pro three times with four Pro Bowls and is a Bengals Ring of Honor member. He helped revolutionize the importance of right tackle in the modern era and was the best at his position during his time there.

The Key Clash: Switzerland vs Norway The opening game of the tournament involves Finland take on Iceland but that will serve as a mere appetiser on the opening day, with Switzerland vs Norway to come later that evening. An early win for either side here will set the tone. A defeat, and the pressure is on massively for the two remaining games. The stakes are high from the off. Key Players Lia Wälti (Switzerland) - A metronomic midfielder used to the pressure of the biggest stages, the Switzerland captain will be absolutely key for the hosts. When things aren't going well, the team will look to Wälti to calm the nerves, when they are going well, it will be on her to keep everything in check. Caroline Graham Hansen (Norway) - One of the world's best dribblers, one of the world's most creative players, one of the world's most prolific goalscorers. Now 30 and at her fourth Euros, it's time for the Barcelona winger to shine. Glódís Viggósdóttir (Iceland) - The onus will be on the Iceland and Bayern Munich captain to excel the ball playing out from the back and defend sternly when her team are up against it. At club level she does both, and dominates aerially too. Iceland's game will lean on her abilities in all phases. Natalia Kuikka (Finland) - A five-time winner of Finland's Player of the Year, the 29-year-old is a fast, physical defender and an NWSL winner with former club Portland Thorns. Finland are likely to have plenty of defending to do but they were well equipped to compete in qualifying and will need Kuikka to be at her best in Switzerland. Women's sports bars are opening in Philly — part of a booming trend
Philly is getting two new women's sports bars — part of a trend with more than a dozen establishments slated to open across the U.S. Why it matters: With viewership and attendance for women's sports soaring, fans are building hubs that are about more than watching games. Driving the news: Marsha's, founded by Philadelphian Chivonn Anderson, is opening this summer on South Street at what was formerly the Woolly Mammoth. Anderson wants to make the bar into a "sleek and sexy" hub for women's and Philly sports, she told Philadelphia Gay News. Marsha's will have multiple TVs for sports viewing, plus some will be dedicated to LGBTQ+ films and TV. She also hopes to host burlesque, drag shows and dance parties there, per Philadelphia Gay News. Zoom in: The bar's name is a nod to the late Black trans activist Marsha P. Johnson, who became a key figure in the 1969 Stonewall Riots. Anderson aims to open Marsha's by mid-to-late August, just in time for the Eagles' season opener against Dallas. Meanwhile, a community of women's sports fans is working to open a women's sports bar in Philly next year. Watch Party PHL has been fundraising to open their own space, Metro Philadelphia reports. A location and timeline are still in the works. The big picture: At least six women's sports bars have opened across the country this year. As many as 17 are on the way in various stages of funding and construction. Catch up quick: It started with The Sports Bra, a Portland bar dedicated to supporting and showing women's sports, founded in April 2022. Rough and Tumble Pub in Seattle, as well as Whiskey Girl Tavern in Chicago, followed later that year. By the end of 2024, three more had opened. Bar owners mix the fun and camaraderie of team sports with an atmosphere that's welcoming to everyone, including nontraditional sports fans and the LGBTQ+ community. Friction point: Some bar owners have gotten sexist and anti-LGBTQ+ hate. The bottom line: The bars "galvanize the community," Laabs says.

Yes, the 16 interceptions are a blight, but other than that, Baker has been rolling. Now, looking ahead to the 2025 season, the Buccaneers are considered NFC dark horses, with some thinking that, given the talent at Baker's disposal, a Super Bowl run isn't out of the realm of possibility for this team.
