He completed his maiden century in youth Tests by hitting Archie Vaughan for a four on the first ball of the 36th over of India's first innings.

During his stay at the crease on Saturday (July 12), Mhatre added 17 runs for the first wicket with Vaibhav Suryavanshi (14 runs from 13 balls) and 173 runs for the second wicket with Vihaan Malhotra (67 runs from 99 balls).
He was sent back to the pavilion by Archie on the first ball of the 38th over.
Before scoring a century in the youth Test, Mhatre played four youth ODIs as well against the English team but could only manage to score 27 runs in four matches.
Mhatre, who made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the 2024 Irani Cup final at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, made headlines for his super show with the bat in the IPL 2025. He was signed as an injury replacement for Ruturaj Gaikwad by the Chennai-based franchise, and he made his debut in the world's richest franchise cricket league against the Mumbai Indians on April 20, 2025.
In the match played at Wankhede Stadium, Mhatre, after coming out to bat at No. 3, scored 32 runs from 15 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes.
His best batting performance in the IPL 2025 was in the CSK-RCB match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 3, 2025. In the 52nd league match, Mhatre opened the innings for the MS Dhoni-led side and scored 94 runs from 48 balls (9 fours, 5 sixes). But his effort went in vain as Men in Yellow failed to chase down the target of 214 runs and lost the match by two runs.

Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj are fighting hard to win this match. England, on the other hand, need just one wicket to take the lead in the series. India lost only one wicket after lunch — that of Jasprit Bumrah, who was dismissed after forging a crucial stand with Jadeja, even though he did not contribute much in terms of runs. It is now only a matter of one ball as 30 runs are a lot in this context, considering Jadeja is thinking of batting in the same tempo. If India want to win this match, Jadeja will have to take the attack on the English bowlers. England still hold the upper hand in the this game as of now. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

'Brainfade Bumrah...All Hard Work Undone': Netizens Lambast Jasprit Bumrah After Cheap Dismissal

Netizens alike were left either in admiration or sheer anger at the ace pacer's decision (or rather indecision) to play the hook shot and lose his wicket, when it was uncalled for. Jasprit Bumrah played hard, but perhaps just not smart enough. At least for a fleeting moment. Following a shambolic crumbling of the Indian batting order, all hopes were tied on the shoulders of Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja to aide India to a draw, or perhaps even a possible victory. But after persisting for a hard-fought 54 balls, Bumrah fell victim to a tempter from England skipper Ben Stokes, who reeled the pacer in to hook one high and ugly, leading to a simple catch by Sam Cook: sinking India's hopes of saving face with his departure. Netizens alike were left either in admiration or sheer anger at the ace pacer's decision (or rather indecision) to play the hook when it was uncalled for, leading to a horde of harsh criticism being laid on Bumrah. Jasprit Bumrah just couldn't resist short ball stuffBen Stokes with another vital breakthrough #ENGvsIND #INDvsENG #LordsTest — ishan (@imishan12) July 14, 2025 Jasprit Bumrah has thrown it away with an ordinary shot. All the hardwork has been undone😬 #INDvsENG — Akshat (@Akshatgoel1408) July 14, 2025 Whether deserving or not, what it undeniable is the resilience that Bumrah showcased throughout his outing, playing a solid second-fiddle to Jadeja, who aimed to aid India to the promised land: securing them a second win in the series. But alas, much left to be seen as an unfortunate fate nears India, who will possibly be staring down a 2-1 deficit after all is said and done tonight. Alonso Reveals Newey's Impact On Aston Martin's F1 Revival Plans: 'We All Learn'

Last Updated: Fernando Alonso feels Aston Martin is learning from Adrian Newey, who joined as Managing Technical Partner, transforming the team's processes and vision for the 2026 regulations. Fernando Alonso believes Aston Martin is experiencing a learning curve under the guidance of legendary designer Adrian Newey, who joined the Silverstone-based team earlier this year as Managing Technical Partner. As Aston Martin aims to recover from a disappointing start to the 2025 Formula 1 season, Alonso has disclosed how Newey's presence is already beginning to transform the team's internal processes and long-term vision. Newey, who departed Red Bull Racing after decades of championship triumphs, began working with Aston Martin in March. Regarded as one of the greatest technical minds in F1 history, his arrival is considered a major coup for the team, which aims to become a consistent front-runner under the upcoming 2026 regulations. During the British Grand Prix weekend, Alonso shared his initial interactions with Newey and the insights he brings to the team. 'We had a couple of lunches together," Alonso was quoted by Formula as saying. 'Generally [focused on] things about the team, about the simulator, how to make things a little bit more realistic, and he has a lot of experience [of] how a top team should fight for championships and try to be on top of the game in every area." The two-time World Champion stressed that Newey's contributions extend far beyond the aerodynamics department. 'It's not only the aerodynamics. When we think about Adrian, it is all aero performance; I think Adrian has a much wider view of how the team should operate, so we all learn from him every time that we speak with him." How Will Adrian Newey Help Aston Martin? While Newey's main focus is reportedly on preparing the team for the sweeping technical changes in 2026, Alonso remains cautious about his own future in the sport beyond that point. When asked about the possibility of racing in 2027, the 43-year-old veteran was straightforward. 'No, not really. Not in my mind now." 'The decision will be made next year, I think, around summer time or before to have things clear as soon as possible. Right now, the championship is challenging this year. We didn't start as competitive as we thought, and now we want to turn the situation [around]." Alonso added, 'We want to finish the second part of 2025 as strong as possible. Then 2026, everything remains to be seen. Step by step, and [it's] impossible to think right now into 2027." Aston Martin currently sits eighth in the Constructors' Championship, level on 36 points with Racing Bulls, who hold seventh place on countback.
