Exit looms for Aadi in Coronation Street as he makes two major confessions

Metro7 days ago
A couple of months ago actor Adam Hussain announced on his Instagram that he would soon be leaving Coronation Street and his role of Aadi Alahan.
'I guess the secrets out now!' he wrote. 'As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures.
'Over the 5 years I've spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!'
In recent weeks the path to his exit has been laid out, beginning with a party that went disastrously wrong.
Aadi had been left in charge of his dad's business while Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) was away in India.
Aadi was keen to step up and show that he has what it takes to be a young entrepreneur, but he was so focused on this task that he didn't have any social life. So Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) suggested a party.
Unfortunately things got out of hand when some of the party-goers took LSD, including Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
She hadn't realised she was taking the drug and had a very bad reaction, hallucinating that she was being pursued by evil Joel Deering (Calum Lill). In her terror she fell and injured herself badly, ending up in hospital.
Aadi felt guilty for being responsible for drugs being at the party and did what he could to help her. This has led to the two of them embarking on a romance – but if Lauren knew that Aadi was the cause of her being 'spiked' she'd be furious.
It's not the only secret hanging over Aadi. It turned out that he'd over-estimated his readiness to step into Dev's shoes and made quite the mess of the shop's finances.
He tried to fix this by getting Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) to stage a robbery, thinking the insurance would pay off the debt he'd accrued. Unfortunately one of the many things that Aadi had done wrong was to forget to pay the insurance premiums.
Bernie soon worked out that Aadi was behind the 'robbery' and made him admit everything else. Not wanting there to be a rift between Dev and his son, Bernie has come up with a plan to sort Aadi's financial woes out.
Dev has been given a large sum of money for his wedding to Bernie, so Bernie's plan is she'll get everything for the wedding on the cheap, falsify the receipts and the difference will pay off Aadi's debt, with Dev being none the wiser.
With the wedding about to take place it's make or break time for this plan, and with Aunty Rani turning up in Weatherfield to keep an eye on the proceedings and how her money is being spent, Bernie's plan is proving trickier than she envisaged.
Like any soap wedding, the big day itself is eventful, but eventually Bernie walks down the aisle on Kit (Jacob Roberts)'s arm as Dev waits expectantly. The magical moment is soon followed by total panic as Bernie collapses, struggling to breathe. Asha (Tanisha Gorey) rushes to give first aid as an ambulance is called.

And things are looking bleak for Bernie when, later, Asha announces that Dev wants the family to gather at the hospital. More Trending
In the wake of these shocks, Aadi is feeling guilty for the mistakes he's made and the stress he must have put on Bernie, and he gets drunk in Victoria Gardens. Lauren eventually tracks him down there and he decides he has to come clean about what happened at the party.
And when Dev gets home, Aadi braces himself to tell his dad the truth about his mishandling of the business and the debts he piled up.

Coronation Street favourite will make a sensational return to the show as new Rovers Return landlord... as ITV strike back after EastEnders reinstated Kat Slater and Alfie Moon at the Queen Vic

Coronation Street bosses have taken action to ensure the show's infamous pub isn't outshone by EastEnders' reinstatement of Kat and Alfie Moon at the Vic. In a bid to ensure that soap fans' eyes are also on the Rovers Return, they have brought back Catherine Tyldesley, 41, (AKA Eva Price) as the pub's new sexy landlady. She will not be alone in catering to the drinking needs of Weatherfield and will be joined by Aaron McCusker, 46, who will play her new husband. An insider told The Sun: 'Corrie bosses were never going to take EastEnders ' shrewd decision to reinstate Kat and Alfie at the Vic lying down. 'So they took their time looking for the perfect actor to play her husband to Eva as she makes her return to Corrie as the new boss of the Rovers. 'When Aaron walked in, and once paired with Catherine, bosses knew they had the perfect partnership to run the soap's iconic pub.' Describing the pair's chemistry as 'electric', the insider noted that Aaron will bring his Irish charm to the pub as the pair put on a 'happy and loved-up' display. However, despite having all the friendliness associated with the Irish, the insider stressed that Aaron is not a character to be messed with. They added: 'It's the start of an exciting new chapter in the pub's history.' In case your memory needs refreshing, Cath left the show back in 2018 to pursue other acting opportunities and bosses have reportedly been trying to convince her to return for years. While Aaron is a newbie to the cobbles, fans might recognise him from the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, where he played Freddie Mercury's partner, Jim Hutton. The actor also made a name for himself in Shameless as Jamie Maguire. News of the latest change on the cobblestones comes after it was announced that the show had been pulling in record viewers after making one recent change. The change took place in October 2024, when the long-running show became available to view on ITVX from 7am on the day of broadcast. Describing the pair's chemistry as 'electric', the insider noted that Aaron will bring his Irish charm to the pub as the pair put on a 'happy and loved-up' display This meant that soap fans could either chose to tune in early or watch their favourite soaps at a time that better suits them. The decision to make the change came after BBC soap East Enders made a similar switch to iPlayer a few years ago. Following the change, both Corrie and Emmerdale, which also made the switch, have enjoyed a record 124 million streams in 2025's first quarter. This meant that there have been an impressive one billion streams on ITVX so far this year. To put the change into context, compared to this time last year, soap viewing has increased by 35 percent. ITV's Managing Director of Media and Entertainment Kevin Lygo said: 'We have totally transformed our streaming offer with ITVX over the past couple of years. 'All our teams internally, alongside the best producers in the business, have helped deliver these brilliant numbers, by producing, promoting and delivering this fantastic content to audiences to stream.'

Corrie's Abi makes her choice in early ITVX release after series of shocks

This article contains spoilers for tonight's Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on ITVX. Abi Webster (Sally Carman) experienced a rollercoaster of emotions in tonight's Coronation Street as she was hit by shock after shock. Things got off to a bumpy start when she headed into the Rovers with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell), and immediately bumped into the one person he had told her to stay away from: Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard). With Abi refusing to give him the attention he was after, Carl fixed his sights on Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), which had the desired effect of making Abi jealous. So much so, that after announcing that Kevin was now cancer free to the Rovers locals, she paid Carl a visit in his hotel room to ensure that Tracy hadn't joined him. Of course, one thing led to another and the pair ended up under the covers in romantic bliss – until Abi made a horrifying discovery. After seeing a text from Carl's fellow con-artist Fiona, Abi was horrified to learn that Carl had been using the garage as a base for his MOT scams. Having stormed home, Abi faced more turmoil when she was blindsided by the announcement that Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) had booked a family holiday. As soon as Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) was out of earshot, Abi launched into Kevin for putting her in such an awkward position, and making it almost impossible to back out. Demanding that Kevin tell the kids she will have to stay behind and work, Abi insisted that Kevin and Carl were as bad as each other, before coming clean to Kev about Carl's MOT scam. However, she was absolutely furious to discover that Kevin already knew about Carl's dodgy dealings, and was refusing to go to the police. As she attempted to cool off after the row, Abi was approached by Debbie, who revealed that she had decided to give Kevin another chance, before urging Abi to do the same. It seemed that Debbie had convinced her, as Abi told Kevin that she would go on holiday with them after all, before heading to Carl's hotel to break things off with him. With the truth out in the open, Abi and Carl locked lips once again. View More » Are they set to make their relationship more serious, and will they manage to keep it from Kev?
