DALLAS - LeBron James—certainly by virtue of his talent but also due to a celebrity image that he's cultivated—brings some of this on himself.

Is the 40-year-old's time with the Los Angeles Lakers coming to an end, given that the future Hall of Famer just opted into his $52.6 million player option?
Which could mean leaving L.A. for a 23rd and final season playing elsewhere?
Maybe, so as the NBA Western Conference could be in store for a shakeup, it is perfectly natural for, say, the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs (and their fans and media) to explore.
And it's also perfectly natural for LeBron's own son—and Lakers teammate—to wonder, too.
First to the team-by-team fun...
Our Jonah Kubicek writes, "Building a mock trade to get James to Dallas is not that hard on paper, although there is little chance that the Mavs, even with Nico Harrison calling the shots, would agree to limit their future flexibility to add LeBron, especially not with Cooper Flagg in town.

"That doesn't necessarily mean that the door is closed on bringing James to Dallas, although the Lakers would have to commit massive sums of money for very little return.''
OK, next, Kubicek takes us to San Antonio...
"Yes,'' he writes, "Spurs fans can dream about a scenario where Doncic returns to Texas, paring up with Victor Wembanyama in the Silver and Black. While the Spurs could save enough money to make him an offer, the chances of him agreeing to play for a third team seem low, and in order to do so, the Spurs would have to not give De'Aaron Fox the extension he has been clearly eager to sign since being traded in February.''
So... it's dreams and pipe dreams and guesses. But don't feel bad – Bronny doesn't seem to know any more than the rest of us.

"One of my friends called me, talking about what I was gonna do, because they seen my dad, whatever... I didn't see it. He called me, I said, 'I have no idea what you're talking about,'" Bronny said of internet speculation fueled by Dad wearing a "Welcome Home'' hat while playing golf back in his native Ohio. "I don't really pay attention to that stuff. Yeah, there's a lot of stuff going around that I don't pay attention to."
But Bronny... your future might be tied to his. So...
"We don't really talk about much. When stuff like that does come up, he tells me not to pay attention to it, not to worry about it," Bronny said.

Former Cowboys Star Slams Nike for Losing Jeremiah Smith To Arch-Rival

Former Cowboys Star Slams Nike for Losing Jeremiah Smith To Arch-Rival originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The world of NIL is shaped not only by the colleges creating budgets to fill their roster, but the product endorsement deals and sponsorships that can begin a lifelong connection. Advertisement The way Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods became synonymous with Nike that type of partnership, because of the NIL market, can come to fruition with a young college athlete. One such deal that's already making waves is the agreement reached by Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and athletic apparel juggernaut Adidas. On Wednesday, Adidas announced their deal with Smith and the 19-year-old wideout posted "Three Stripes for life" on his X account. But with every move, there are detractors. Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was quick to throw shade on social media by questioning how Nike missed out on making a deal with Smith. Advertisement "Nike about to lose all credibility. How did they lose Jeremiah Smith to Adidas?" read Bryant's post, which received more than 250,000 views and over 2,600 likes. Smith joins several big-time football players already associated with the brand, including Patrick Mahomes, Micah Parsons, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Travis Hunter, and Abdul Carter. Last year, Adidas signed several NFL rookies, including Rome Odunze, Michael Penix Jr., Adonai Mitchell, and Xavier Legette. ‘It's special': Tyrese Haliburton attends Pacers Summer League practice

INDIANAPOLIS — A booted Tyrese Haliburton watched along in support as the Indiana Pacers Summer League team practiced Friday at the Ascension St. Vincent Center. The Pacers guard tore his Achilles in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. He had surgery shortly after and posted a heartfelt message that doubled down on playing through an injury. "Now that I've gotten surgery, I wish I could count the number of times people will tell me I'm going to 'come back stronger," Haliburton, in part, wrote. "What a cliche lol, this (expletive) sucks. My foot feels like dead weight, fam. But what's hurting most I think is my mind. Feel like I'm rambling, but I know this is something I'll look back on when I'm through this, as something I'm proud I fought through. It feels good to let this (expletive) out without y'all seeing the kid ugly cry." Haliburton sat on the sidelines and sported a boot that came up to below the kneecap. Summer League coach Isaac Yacob acknowledged Haliburton for taking the time to attend the first two practices and speaking to the players. The Pacers drafted Taelon Peter in the second round of the 2025 NBA draft. In less than half a month, Peter went from watching the Pacers in the NBA Finals to practicing in front of the team's star player. It's an adjustment that'll take time for a young player who wasn't sure if he'd get drafted. 'Something I've been working on the past couple of days from two weeks ago, watching the finals and being a huge fan of the NBA, not knowing if it were going to be my thing or not, to being here and seeing people I never thought I'd see in person, it's special,' Peter said. 'But it's something that I'll get used to pretty soon.' Earlier Friday, the Pacers announced their Summer League roster which included second-round picks Kam Jones and Peter.

Five-star OT recruiting target Felix Ojo gives update on his Longhorns official visit

One of the biggest recruiting targets for the Texas Longhorns is five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo. The Mansfield, TX blue chipper recently took an official visit to the 40 Acres, after cancelling an official visit to Oklahoma. Rivals analyst Sam Spiegelman has been covering Ojo's recruitment for months. Last week, he made a prediction that Ojo would end up at Texas. "There is a sense that Texas closed strong on this official visit and left a big enough impression on the elite OT ahead of his July commitment," Spiegelman said. "There is a strong sense that Ojo wont leave the state to play college football." Advertisement Ojo is participating in the elite Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Indianapolis, a camp for 100 of the best prospects in the nation. He gave Spiegelman an update on where things stand after having a week to digest is OV to Austin. "I'd really say Texas and Ohio State (lead). Really just the atmosphere. The culture. Not only that. The opportunity to play early. I'd really say those two schools have really been pushing me throughout the recruiting process. Those are ultimately the two schools that are the biggest factor in my recruitment right now." -- Felix Ojo Ojo says the winning atmosphere's of both Texas and Ohio State are what separates to two college football playoff semifinalists from the rest of the pack. "I would say the winning atmosphere of the programs. And also the development factor. (Texas offensive line) Coach (Kyle) Flood is one of the best in the business. He had two first rounders last year." -- Felix Ojo So how close is the race between the Buckeyes and the Longhorns? It's a dead heat. "I'd say right now with the race, I'd say it's pretty even. I'd say there's no clear cut leader right now. I'd say the decision will be made in the next couple of weeks. It really just depends." -- Felix Ojo So what will be the tiebreaker and when will the elite prospect announce his commitment? Soon, but there's a lot to think about. "Really just seeing where the best fit for me and my family is. Really seeing what the future has in store for me." -- Felix Ojo Follow us on X (formerly Twitter) at @LonghornsWire.
