
Saudi Arabia to Host 4th International Conference on Lexicography in October
The King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language is set to hold its fourth annual international conference in the first half of October 2025 in Riyadh, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Supported by the Saudi Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the two-day event seeks to boost cooperation between the academy and linguistic institutions worldwide.
Themed 'The Global Lexicography Industry: Experiences, Efforts, and Prospects,' the conference represents a valuable platform for experts to exchange insights and review successful initiatives in lexicography.
Furthermore, it is a perfect occasion to explore ways to modernize dictionary development through emerging technologies and artificial intelligence, according to Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of the academy.
'The conference reflects our commitment to advancing the lexicographic industry by exchanging expertise, implementing technical solutions and addressing key challenges,' Al-Washmi said.
The event is expected to bring together representatives from more than 20 countries.
Interestingly, the conference will delve into the latest developments in the lexicography industry and highlight major Arabic and international projects.
Therefore, it will facilitate knowledge exchange among linguists, language academies as well as technology experts.
In addition, it will explore Artificial Intelligence-driven advances in dictionary compilation.
'Our goal is to enhance the development of dictionaries, strengthen their global impact, and reinforce Saudi Arabia's leadership in promoting the Arabic language,' Al-Washmi added.

Saudization for pharmacy professions in Saudi Arabia to start on July 27
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD), in partnership with the Ministry of Health, will begin enforcing the decision to raise Saudization rates for pharmacy-related professions on July 27. According to a HRSD statement, the decision includes 35% Saudization of community pharmacies and medical centers, 65% in hospitals, and 55% in other pharmacy-related activities. It will be enforced based on Ministerial Decision No. 103111 dated 26/01/2025, which approved the updated procedural guide for pharmacy professions, including the enforcement of Saudization rates and a minimum wage, in line with the definitions, job titles, and requirements specified in the guide. The decision aims to provide motivating and stable job opportunities for Saudis across the Kingdom, increase their participation in the labor market, and aligns with the Ministry's strategy to localize sectors and target activities and professions in line with the goals of Vision 2030. According to data available on Argaam, HRSD announced in January decisions to raise Saudization rates in 269 professions across various sectors, in collaboration with several supervisory bodies including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing.

Fitch affirms Saudi Arabia's A+ credit rating with stable outlook
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Fitch Ratings has affirmed Saudi Arabia's long-term foreign currency issuer default rating at A+ with a stable outlook, highlighting the Kingdom's strong fiscal position and continued reform momentum. In its latest report, the international rating agency said Saudi Arabia's credit rating reflects the robustness of its financial fundamentals. It noted that key indicators —such as the sovereign net foreign asset position and the debt-to-GDP ratio— are significantly stronger than the averages for countries in the "A" and even "AA" rating categories. Fitch emphasized that the Kingdom holds substantial financial reserves in the form of public sector deposits and other assets, supporting its macroeconomic stability. Looking ahead, the agency projected that Saudi Arabia's sovereign net foreign assets will remain a cornerstone of its credit strength, reaching 35.3% of GDP by figure stands well above the average for countries rated 'A,' which is just 3.1% of also pointed to the ongoing fiscal reforms undertaken by the Saudi government, aimed at improving budget flexibility and reducing dependence on oil agency said these reforms, along with a sustained rise in non-oil revenues, continue to reinforce the Kingdom's credit profile.
