Shocking Number of Expats Caught in Dawn Sweep in Kuwait
Acting on direct orders from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, and under the supervision of Acting Undersecretary Major General Ali Al-Adwani, heavily armed units from the General Department of Special Forces Security descended on the area just before sunrise.
The operation was personally overseen by Brigadier General Dakhil Al Dakhil, Director General of Special Forces Security, and Brigadier General Yousef Al Souri, Director of Operations. A full security cordon was established around key locations known to harbour illegal residents and suspected criminals.
According to security sources speaking to Al-Rai, the raid led to the arrest of dozens of violators, with infractions ranging from immigration offences to more serious concerns.
Among those detained:
- 18 individuals with expired residency permits
- 111 absconding cases
- 112 individuals with active arrest warrants
- 12 persons with no identification documents
- 1A juvenile caught driving without a licence
- 1One person was found in a suspected intoxicated state, possibly under the influence
Authorities say the crackdown is part of an ongoing campaign by the Ministry of Interior to reinforce law and order, particularly in areas known for illegal labour and unregulated housing. Officials have promised that security operations will continue in the coming days, warning that employers and sponsors who shelter or employ violators will also face legal consequences.

Doctors in Kuwait beaten for not signing ‘medical leave'
KUWAIT CITY, July 26: The Public Prosecution has started investigating the assault on two doctors working at Sabah Al-Salem North Center by an unknown individual after they left their workplace late at night. Case files indicate that the assailant followed the two doctors in the parking lot of the clinic and attacked them with a sharp object (a wheel wrench), resulting in multiple injuries and a broken hand for one of them. The assault happened when the doctors refused to grant him medical leave after the end of official working hours. Attorney Elaf Al-Saleh, acting on behalf of the Kuwait Medical Association and representing the victims, filed an official complaint against the perpetrator who fled the scene after committing the assault. The complaint was transferred from Sabah Al-Salem Police Station to the prosecution, which heard the testimonies of one of the victims and Al-Saleh. The investigation will be completed once the other doctor gives his testimony upon completion of his treatment at Al-Razi Orthopedic Hospital. The deputy public prosecutor instructed the relevant security authorities to quickly apprehend the culprit. Commenting on the incident, Al-Saleh denounced what she described as a 'blatant and cowardly assault,' stressing that the crime is punishable under Kuwaiti law. She asserted, 'This assault not only affects the two doctors, but it is also a blatant violation of the honor of the health sector, its professional and job security. It contradicts the human and ethical values upon which any civilized society is based. An assault on a doctor is, in essence, an assault on an entire humanitarian profession.' Al-Saleh praised the quick response of the investigation authorities at the area police station and the prosecution, affirming her confidence in the security authorities' ability to arrest the accused and bring him to justice as soon as possible

15 more individuals lose their Kuwait citizenship
KUWAIT CITY, July 26: The Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Citizenship, during its recent meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, decided to revoke the citizenship of several individuals, pending approval by the Council of Ministers, reports Al-Seyassah daily. In a press statement, the Ministry of Interior clarified that the decision includes revocations based on dual nationality, fraudulent acquisition through false statements or forgery, and cases deemed necessary for the protection of the country's higher interests. In a related development, the official gazette 'Kuwait Al-Youm' recently published two decisions for revoking the citizenship of 15 individuals. The first decision, issued under Article 10 of the Nationality Law, revoked the citizenship of one woman. Kuwait Ambassador in Lisbon seeks academic coop, with Portuguese university
MADRID: Kuwaiti Ambassador in Lisbon Hamad Al-Hazeem discussed academic cooperation with Portugal's leading university, ISCTE, which is ready to welcome Kuwaiti students. Speaking to KUNA on Saturday, the ambassador said he had met with the Portuguese university's vice chairman for international relations Professor Maria Joao Cortinhal and Rector of College of Business Administration Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, underling the significance of promoting cultural and academic relations between Kuwait and Portugal. He added that the ISCTE is listed among the world's top 50 universities in view of some specialized programs and is internationally well-ranked in business administration. The university, which was established 52 years back, is home to five colleges covering sociology and humanities, business administration, public politics, technology, engineering and digitalization, he said. The Kuwaiti diplomat noted that the Portuguese university is willing to cooperate with Kuwait's National Bureau for Academic Accreditation and Education Quality Assurance (NBAQ) to receive Kuwaiti students. — KUNA
