Suniel Shetty confirms Paresh Rawal's comeback in Heri Pheri 3 after controversy: ‘Nazar lagjaati hai agar…'
The situational comedy in Priyadarshan's 2000 film Hera Pheri gave rise to countless social media memes that remain popular even today. Now, in a recent interview, Suniel Shetty, who plays Shyam in the Hera Pheri movies, reacted to the enduring popularity of the films' memes and praised Priyadarshan as the best director in the comedy genre. He also confirmed that Paresh Rawal will be returning for the upcoming sequel. During a conversation with Pinkvilla, Suniel shared that all the jokes in the film were written by Priyadarshan himself. 'We used to improvise a bit but all these famous jokes are written by him. Every word has been written by him,' he said. 'I have never seen a director like Priyadarshan. From comedy perspective, unhe vo dikhaai deta hai jo aapko aur mujhe sunai and dikhaai nahi deta. He is a genius in comedy,' the actor added. He then gave several examples of his real-life humour. ALSO READ | Suniel Shetty says Jackie Shroff and Salman Khan are always one phone call away: 'Not because I helped them when they needed, but…' Sunile Shetty also confirmed that Paresh Rawal is back on board Hera Pheri 3 and said, 'Ya ya, he is. I am very excited. Like I said, I will talk on the day of release kyunki nazar lagti hai. Humaari khud ki achi nazar lagjaati hai kabhi kabhi.' Suniel also mentioned that children remember him from his character Shyam instead of his name as an actor. 'If a mother asks an eight-years-old if they recognised me, they don't. They smile after saying Hera Pheri ka naam. I am known as the Hera Pheri Shyam and not Suniel Shetty. A whole generation doesn't know me.' Earlier this year, Hera Pheri 3 had made headlines due to Paresh Rawal's exit from the project and his eventual return.

Suneil Shetty BREAKS Silence On Hera Pheri 3 Row: ‘This Franchise Is Not A Joke'
Suniel Shetty says Hera Pheri is 'not a joke' but a situation-based comedy. He praises Priyadarshan's writing amid casting buzz around Hera Pheri 3. Veteran actor Suniel Shetty, currently busy promoting his latest action-packed venture Hunter Season 2, recently sat down for an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, where he took a nostalgic trip down memory lane. While discussing his early struggles, overcoming self-doubt, and evolving as an artist, the Hera Pheri star also responded to a now-iconic meme based on one of his most memorable dialogues. The meme in question? A line from Hera Pheri that's gone viral over the years: 'Main toh sirf pati banna chahta hoon" (I just want to be a husband). When shown the clip, Shetty smiled and credited director Priyadarshan and dialogue writer Neeraj Vora for the brilliance behind the line. 'Impromptu was action and reaction. Dialogues — Priya sir ek word change karne bhi nahi dete (Priyadarshan sir wouldn't let you change even a single word)," Shetty explained, stressing how meticulously the film was crafted. He elaborated on how he memorized dialogues by understanding their emotional depth. 'The minute you understand it, you don't need to by heart it. He (Priyadarshan) used to explain what I meant by this. What am I trying to say. He makes sense — he makes unbelievable sense." Reflecting on the evolution of comedy in cinema, Shetty took a subtle dig at contemporary writing. 'Hera Pheri is not a joke. Hera Pheri situation hai," he said. '*Meri fatti padi hai, toh fatti padi hai. Usme mai dialogue kya bolunga. Uske reaction se ye line funny ho jata hai (If I'm scared, I'm scared — what can I say? The line becomes funny because of the situation and reaction)." He added, 'Today's films are like WhatsApp jokes — there's no real writing." Suniel Shetty's appreciation for Priyadarshan's directorial precision and Neeraj Vora's clever writing shines through, as he remains proud of the timelessness of Hera Pheri, a film that continues to resonate across generations. Meanwhile, Hera Pheri 3 has been making headlines, especially after Paresh Rawal's brief exit and return following a fallout with Akshay Kumar. Though much remains under wraps, fans are eager to see the original trio back in action. As for Hunter Season 2, the action-thriller series premiered on July 24, with Jackie Shroff joining the cast in a pivotal role. With Shetty bringing back his rugged charm and action expertise, the show promises to be another gritty ride for fans.
