Pregnant Katherine Ryan 'dejected' at the thought of her baby being a boy
The Canadian star, 42, is currently expecting her fourth child. She is already a proud mum of 16-year-old Violet and her children with Bobby Kootstra: son Fred, four, and daughter Fenna, two.
However, she'd seemingly much prefer adding another girl to her brood, having already confirmed that baby number four will be her last.
In an appearance on Heart Radio's breakfast show this morning, she confessed to hosts Jamie Theakston and Zoe Hardman that she's been 'antagonised' by men throughout her life.
She also joked about youngest Fred being a 'toxic male'.
Katherine, who confirmed her pregnancy last month, began: 'I have to say that I can't ever complain post-first trimester.
'I'm quite big, so I think it might be a boy, so I'm feeling dejected about that, because men have just antagonised me all my life, even before they're born.'
After welcoming her kids thus far in the order of 'girl, boy, girl,' Katherine said she never finds out her baby's sex beforehand.
'It's always a surprise, and I love that. It's vintage', she stated.
The Duchess star then declared that she will inevitably suffer 'gender disappointment' if her little one arrives as a boy.
'I will have it (gender disappointment) this time if it's a boy. You know what it is, my son is a toxic male; he's four years old, and he always wants to fight me,' she shared.
Katherine recalled: 'I drove him to nursery the other day; he sat behind me, and he had a sword held to my throat for a while.
'Like, who's giving you weapons?'
'I didn't grow up with brothers, so it's been an adjustment for me,' she admitted.
But don't worry, it's all in jest—in true Katherine style, of course—as she assured listeners: 'But I love him; he's a very special guy.'
At the end of June, Katherine revealed that she kept her second pregnancy secret out of fear of losing work.
She was presenting Ready to Mingle on ITV at the time and was eight months pregnant, which nobody knew.
Katherine claimed that she would be unable to get insured during the project if she were pregnant.
In an interview with The Sun, she said: 'During my pregnancy, I wasn't telling anyone. You can't get insured on any production if you are pregnant. Sometimes, if you are important enough, they go the extra mile. You see Holly Willoughby pregnant and that's because she's worth it.
'I tried to keep it secret. People just thought I was really fat for ages. I had to keep it quiet. I still needed to work to feed my family.'
Katherine added that she didn't want to 'let down a production' if she encountered any complications during pregnancy.
The beloved 8 Out of 10 Cats comic has been open about her fertility struggles in the past, having suffered three devastating miscarriages over the span of five years.
'I'm old. I used to think I was going to be the babies' dad because I'm working, but actually I'm like their grandmother,' she told OK! Magazine last November.
'My back hurts; sometimes I give them treats. I'm like a fun grandma.'
The beloved stand-up star, who frequently uses the ups and downs of parenting for material in her routines, admitted that she'd been deterred from expanding her family after learning the shocking statistics about pregnancy. More Trending
'We've always gotten pregnant with the babies quite quickly. I've been pregnant five times in five years, but that also means I've had three miscarriages in five years,' she said, adding that the likelihood of miscarriage increases as a woman gets older.
'You have to find a balance between what you can personally stand and risks you're willing to take.'
When confirming that she won't be having any more kids now, she told the Telling Everyone Everything podcast that while she 'loves making people' with partner Bobby, she believes it would be 'almost irresponsible to the children that [they] have and to [themselves]' should they continue.

Paul Sinha of 'The Chase' shares emotional health update
ITV star Paul Sinha was brutally honest about his future in a new admission The Chase's Paul Sinha made a sobering confession about his future prospects during what was otherwise a hilarious performance at this year's Ealing Comedy Festival. Speaking from the stage this week, the ITV favourite opened up a bout his "progressive, degenerative neurological condition", Parkinson's Disease, describing it as a "tough diagnosis" to come to terms with. The devastating news had arrived just months after he'd walked down the aisle with husband Oliver Levy in 2019, whom he'd encountered through the quiz circuit, creating a year of mixed emotions. He recounted how he'd subsequently experienced a "crushing tightening episode of chest pain" whilst chatting with Celebrity Big Brother alumnus and Reggae Reggae Sauce inventor Levi Roots, after playfully addressing him by his birth name - Keith Valentine Graham. Paul quipped:"I thought, either I'm having a heart attack, or I've fallen prey to a mysterious Rastafarian death threat!", reports the Express. The comedian did indeed suffer two cardiac episodes within just seven days during last year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Meanwhile, he painted a stark picture of how his Parkinson's might affect him in future decades. "I'm well aware that in 15 to 20 years time, I might be completely immobile and totally expressionless," he revealed. Nevertheless, he deployed his signature wit to inject levity into an otherwise sombre moment, adding, "But hey - I'm still Australia's number one break dancer! Sometimes these things are sent to try us." Parkinson's Disease, a neurological condition, often starts with mild symptoms like tremors and balance issues. Yet, as it advances, individuals may grapple with mobility, speech, and swallowing difficulties, sometimes leading to reliance on a wheelchair. There's no known cure for Parkinson's, and while some experience rapid symptom progression, others manage years without significant impact on their daily lives. Comedian and quiz show favourite Paul has vowed to continue entertaining and challenging audiences as long as his health permits, promising to tackle life's hurdles with "optimism". In a light-hearted moment, The Chase celebrity couldn't resist playfully mocking the "unemployed" viewers, eliciting hearty laughter from the crowd.

Here, we look at what some of the sexiest stars of yesteryear are up to now, from successful TV careers to tragic health battles… Dani Behr Nothing summed up the 90s quite like pop culture show The Word. And front and centre was Dani Behr, the gorgeous blonde presenter with the husky voice who joined the programme in 1992 at just 17 years old. Following her tenure on the show, Dani embarked on a brief but high profile relationship with Manchester United star Ryan Giggs and was later axed from CBBC's The Saturday Show, after making risque comments to a lads mag about having 'seedy' sex in an NCP car park. Dani, 55, ditched the UK in the early noughties to live in the States to work as a luxury real estate agent in Los Angeles, selling million dollar houses. Now a mum of two, she's kept herself ingrained in showbusiness, and has just announced that a new show which she created, called 'Members Only: Palm Beach,' has been picked up by Netflix. It will follow 'a group of glamorous women navigating America's most exclusive social circle.' Melinda Messenger With her tumbling blonde locks, cheeky grin and flawless figure, Melinda was the ultimate pin up and one of the 90s most iconic glamour girls. I was a Page 3 girl and popped up in James Bond film... then got addicted to heroin The Sun labelled her 'The Girl of the Thrillenium' and she was dubbed the new Eva Herzigova as she shot to fame thanks to posing in her undies for a double glazing advert. Nowadays, things are drastically different for 54 year old Mel, who has three children and lives a peaceful life in the Berkshire countryside. She likes to plant flowers, walk her dog and is a fully trained psychotherapist. Melinda, who regularly appears as a guest at wellness festivals across the country, was back in the news recently to argue her 21 year old daughter, Evie, was not a 'nepo baby'. 21 Melinda Messenger emerging from a swimming pool onto a Sun towel back in 1997 Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd 21 Melinda Messenger at Octopus Park in Tenerife back in 1997 Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd 21 Legendary Page 3 girl hasn't aged a day as she poses in swimsuit Credit: instagram/ Reports claimed Evie was going into modelling, having been given a leg up by her famous mum. But Mel chimed into the debate insisting 'She isn't a model, though, to be fair she could be if she wanted to, but I am her mum, so I might be a tad biased.' Keeley Hazell As glamour girls go, few were as popular as Keeley at her peak. 21 Keeley Hazel, 21 with 'Come on England' roses back in 2007 Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd 21 Keeley featured in practically every lads mag going Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd 21 Keeley turned to acting appearing in Hollywood films Horrible Bosses 2 with Jennifer Aniston Credit: Getty Images - Getty Not only did she feature in practically every lads mag going, but her Official Keeley Calendar 2007 sold 30,000 copies in its first couple of days, making it one of the biggest sellers of that year. And this was a time when celeb calendars were big business. Famed for her doe eyed girl next door looks, Keeley turned to acting after modelling, appearing in Hollywood films Horrible Bosses 2 with Jennifer Aniston and Like Crazy, alongside Jennifer Lawrence. But it's her turn as evil chairman Rupert Mannion's wife, Bex, in Ted Lasso that has really put her on the map. She's also one of the show's writers. With her tongue firmly in cheek, Keeley, 38, will release her first book next month, a collection of essays entitled 'Everyone's Seen My Tits.' Jodie Marsh She's a long way from her sexy pin up past, but Jodie Marsh was once one of the hottest women in showbiz. 21 Jodie Marsh at the FHM 100 Sexiest Women event Credit: Rex Features 21 Jodie Marsh became famous for her special bra outfit Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd 21 Jodie recently won a battle against her local council in Essex Credit: John McLellan Famed for her daring, outrageous outfits and constant comparisons to fellow model Katie Price, Jodie was a mainstay at celeb events and on reality shows in the early 00s. However, a lot has changed and Jodie, 46, now runs an animal sanctuary called Fripps Farm, where she keeps everything from emus to lemurs. She recently won a battle against her local council in Essex to keep the animals, but last month the former glamour girl begged fans to donate money to her project, after learning the farm's social media pages had been taken down. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Jodie could be seen cuddling an emu and pleading, 'We are working on getting them back up. Please help by donating at Sarah Cawood Channel 4's The Girlie Show, famous for launching the career of the original ladette, Sara Cox, also catapulted Sara Cawood to fame, and she too became a fixture on the walls of teen boys across the country. 21 Heather Suttie & Sarah Cawood presenters for the BBC's Live & Kicking pictured in Ibzia Credit: News Group Newspapers Ltd 21 Sarah Cawood at the 2004 Kerrang! Following a battle with breast cancer in 2022, Sarah told The Sun of her regrets, saying 'they were honestly the best boobs — better than Denise Van Outen's, I'd say. So I should have got them out.' These days Sarah, 52, has stepped away from the limelight to focus on her health and her two children. In April she shared a post which said, ''I need to stop drinking. Like stop completely.' She also reflected on her former TV career saying, 'sometimes I wonder what went wrong, but I'm here now so I'm going to make the most of it, however, that looks.' Gail Porter Was there a more iconic image from lad culture in the 90s than the naked body of Gail Porter, projected onto the Houses of Parliament? Arguably not. 21 Cover girl challenge The front cover of FHM magazine showing Gail Porter in the nude Credit: FHM Magazine 21 Gail Porter promoting a motor car in London Credit: Rex 21 Gail Porter, patron of a Scottish charity, at the launch of an affordable lending program Credit: Tom Farmer However, that 1999 stunt for men's magazine FHM, proved to be the beginning of the end for Gail's successful glamour and TV career. The 54 year old, who was famed for presenting shows like Live and Kicking and Top of The Pops, said she wasn't aware of what had happened and later claimed she was never paid for the shoot, despite the publicity helping FHM sell more than one million copies within just two months. Since then Gail has famously lost her hair due to alopecia, has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and fought a battle against drink and drugs and bankruptcy. She was also sectioned under the mental health act in 2011, after texting her then boyfriend to say she was suicidal. Last month Gail, who shares a daughter, Honey, with Toploader guitarist Dan Hipgrave, stepped out at the British LGBT Awards ceremony wearing a long blonde wig, leaving fans praising her 'transformation'. She was famously named Rear of the Year in 2005 and had a successful run presenting shows such as The Big Breakfast and It's A Knockout. She famously 'wed' gay pal Dale Winton in a televised ceremony, which was later revealed to be part of a BBC documentary. Now Nell, 51, spends her time as a fitness guru, who has run several marathons and written a book called Nell McAndrew's Guide to Running.
