Dodgers rally past White Sox in 9th inning; Kershaw reaches 3,000 strikeouts
Kershaw became the 20th pitcher to reach 3,000 when Vinny Capra took a slider for a called third strike for the final out of the sixth inning.
Los Angeles trailed 4-2 and hadn't scored since the second inning when Michael Conforto singled and Tommy Edman and Hyesong Kim drew back-to-back walks from Grant Taylor (0-1) to open the ninth. Ohtani hit into a run-scoring forceout, Mookie Betts tied the score with a sacrifice fly off Steven Wilson and Freeman singled sharply to right.
Los Angeles won for the 14th time in 17 games and clinched its seventh straight series victory.
Andrew Benintendi had a two-out RBI single in the first. Will Smith tied the score in the bottom half against Sean Burke with his 11th homer and Andy Pages lead off the second with his 17th homer.
Austin Slater hit a two-run homer in the third for a 3-2 lead and Edgar Quero added a flare RBI single.

Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy was injured while tagging out Michael A. Taylor in the sixth. Taylor was caught stealing as catcher Will Smith threw to Muncy, who tagged Taylor for the second out of the inning. Muncy sprawled on his back as a Dodgers athletic trainer came out to check on him. The team said he had left knee pain. A White Sox trainer also checked on Taylor, who sustained a bruised left trapezius in his back.

Kershaw threw a season-high 100 pitches, giving up four runs and nine hits in six innings. He struck out Miguel Vargas in the third and Lenyn Sosa in the fifth.

Former Washington Redskins Clinton Portis and Ryan Kerrigan will be celebrating July 4 in Middletown, Va. The two former Redskins stars are not only celebrating our nation's independence in Middletown, but they are also being honored, as they have been named grand marshals for the July 4 Middletown parade. A third grand marshal has been named, Lauryn Ricketts, a meteorologist with WRC-TV and WTOP-FM in Washington, D.C. On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off a huge trade to land former Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey and Tight end Jonnu Smith. In exchange, the Steelers sent All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick back to the Dolphins. This trade leaves the Steelers minus their starting free safety and decisions to make about how they will replace him in the starting lineup. We discussed several options for how Pittsburgh will approach the position in 2025, with current Steelers Juan Thornhill and rookie Sebastian Castro as our favorite options. This includes the idea of playing cornerback Darius Slay and Jaylen Ramsey as hybrid safeties, which we have never felt like is a strong strategy. Mark Kaboly shares troubling update on Steelers' wide receiver pursuit
Don't hold your breath on Pittsburgh adding additional wide receivers this offseason — as insider Mark Kaboly shed light on what position the Steelers are really after. The recent Minkah Fitzpatrick trade left the Steelers with a glaring hole at safety — and Kaboly doesn't believe FS Juan Thornhill is the long-term answer. Advertisement During Thursday's appearance on 93.7 The Fan, Kaboly was asked whether he thinks the Steelers will sign a safety over a wide receiver — here was his response: "Yeah, probably," Kaboly said. "I mean, they love Calvin Austin, man. They think Roman Wilson can step up. They're intrigued with Robert Woods. Now, at this point [in free agency], what are you going to get? Are you going to get a Keenan Allen that doesn't want to play, or Amari Cooper? … I like Calvin Austin. I don't know if he could take it to that next level that they need to take it to, but I think they're very willing to be able to take that chance to see if he can do it." It's also worth mentioning that many believe newly acquired TE Jonnu Smith could take some snaps at receiver — particularly in the slot — serving as more evidence that the Steelers value their in-house pass catchers over any more signings.
