Will USC safety Kamari Ramsey be a first-round NFL draft pick?
In a new Sports Illustrated article featuring the USC Trojans, writer Kendell Hollowell lists Kamari Ramsey as the Trojan on the defensive side of the ball who has the best chance to hear his named called on Day 1 of the 2026 NFL draft.
"Safety Kamari Ramsey started 11 games as redshirt freshman at UCLA in 2023. He followed defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn to USC when he was hired in December 2023. Ramsey was instrumental in helping Lynn install his defense in the spring. After the Trojans ranked at the bottom of almost every statistical category on defense in 2023, Ramsey helped USC make tremendous strides in 2024. They were better in all facets of the defense — physicality, schematics and tackling, and Ramsey certainly played a large role in that. Ramsey tallied 60 tackles, including 5.5 for loss, two sacks, five PBUs and an interception in 11 games last season. He chose to forgo the 2025 NFL Draft and return to school for another season. The redshirt junior will take on the role of wearing the green dot this upcoming season, which signifies what player that is allowed to communicate with their sidelines via radio.
"Ramsey is an impact player at three levels of the defense. Lynn was not hesitant using Ramsey in blitz packages and showed his range playing a deep half safety. He's physical and is excellent showing up in run support. Ramsey possess a high football IQ and is a tremendous leader on the backend of the Trojans defense. The Athletic has projected the USC safety as a first-round pick."

Bengals expected to sign tight end Noah Fant
CINCINNATI (AP) — Tight end Noah Fant is expected to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals. The team has not announced the signing, but coach Zac Taylor said before Thursday's practice 'we potentially have a good signing there" when asked about reports of a deal. ESPN reported the sides were working on a one-year contract. 'You've got a player that's really a plus player in both the run and the pass. At the point of attack blocking, back side of blocking. Protection, can help you. Also really explosive as a receiver," Taylor said about Fant. "Great size, great explosiveness, really good hands. Tough to bring down. We really feel good about where our tight end room will be.' Fant visited the Bengals last week after being released by the Seattle Seahawks on July 20. He had 48 receptions for 500 yards and a touchdown in 14 games last season. Fant also visited New Orleans and Miami after his trip to Cincinnati. The addition of Fant will give quarterback Joe Burrow a solid tight end duo. Mike Gesicki is expected to the starter. Fant will be going into his seventh season. He was a first-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2019 and spent three seasons there before going to Seattle. ___ AP NFL: Joe Reedy, The Associated Press

Davante Adams is a top-10 WR in Madden 26, but Puka Nacua is not
Does Nacua deserve to be one of the 10 best WRs in Madden this year? On paper, the Los Angeles Rams appear to have one of the best wide receiver tandems in the NFL. Davante Adams joins Puka Nacua in Los Angeles as a top weapon for Matthew Stafford, looking to continue his reign as a premier wideout in football. The ratings gurus at EA Sports still view Adams as a star receiver because he has one of the highest overall ratings for a wideout in the game. Adams is a 90 overall in 'Madden NFL 26', which is the 10th-highest at his position, just behind Drake London (91). EA only revealed the top 10 players at each position on Thursday and Puka Nacua's name was noticeably absent from the list of receivers. While we don't yet know his initial rating, he isn't one of the 10 best wideouts. ESPN polled NFL executives, coaches and scouts from around the league this offseason and asked them to rank the top receivers for 2025. Nacua and Adams both fell outside the top 10, only earning recognition as honorable mentions. It seems both players are on the fringe of being top-10 receivers in the eyes of personnel evaluators around the NFL, as well as EA Sports' ratings experts. Nacua probably doesn't get as much praise as he deserves because he was injured last season, but he was third in the NFL in receiving yards per game (90.0) and nearly eclipsed 1,000 yards despite only playing 11 games. Adams is an established star at wide receiver but you could make the case that Nacua is in for a better season in 2025 if healthy. Whatever his initial Madden rating is, it should be on the rise throughout the year.

Chop Robinson wowing teammates, coaches in Dolphins training camp
Miami Dolphins second-year edge rusher Chop Robinson is shining in training camp and wowing his teammates and coaches. Jaelan Phillips called him a "future Defensive Player of the Year candidate" and Robinson was given the honor of wearing the orange jersey at Tuesday's practice, a recognition from the coaching staff as a top performer from the previous practice. Last year, with Bradley Chubb out for the entire season and Phillips sidelined due to a knee injury suffered in Week 4, Robinson had to play a starting role extremely early in his career. He didn't disappoint bwith 26 tackles, six sacks, eight tackles for loss, and 14 quarterback hits. In the second half of the 2024 NFL season, only the Dallas Cowboys' Micah Parson recorded more quarterback pressures. Robinson now appears ready to take it up a notch in year two, which should put the Dolphins' opponents on notice. "Chop's growing up man," quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said Wednesday. "That boy's growing up, getting a little more muscle, boy's getting a little faster." "He's lights out man. And his motor, the way he bends the edge, the way he can play the run," Chubb said of Robinson. "I know some people in here said he couldn't play the run, but the way he does that is nothing short of phenomenal man, and I'm excited to see him keep growing." With Robinson, Chubb, and Phillips all proven to be starting caliber players in years past, Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver has to sort out a rotation that utilizes the entire group. He's even talked about running all three players at the same time. Despite the group competing with each other for snaps, they are all in support of Robinson's success even if it takes snaps away from them. "(Chop's) a different breed. The way he moves, his get off, how low he runs to the ground," fellow pass rusher Quinton Bell said. "I see Chop having another breakout year just like he had a great year last year. But I think he is going to take it to a whole another level. His work ethic, the way he approaches practice every day. You wouldn't have even thought he was a rookie last year. So I'm super proud of him and his growth." Robinson, 22, has an extremely bright future with the Dolphins on what the team hopes will be a strong front seven. His role on the team will be extremely important early in the season as the secondary continues to build chemistry.
