Louis Tomlinson quits social media over 'hurtful' theories about loved ones

Metro15-07-2025
Louis Tomlinson has called out 'hurtful' online conspiracies and comments about his relationship, his son, and even his late mother.
The One Direction star, 33, has endured a huge amount since he rocketed to fame on The X Factor in 2010 with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and the late Liam Payne.
In 2016, Louis' mother Johannah Deakin died of leukaemia and just three years after his sister Félicité died of an accidental overdose in 2019.
Last October bandmate Payne fell to his death from a hotel balcony in Argentina, leaving One Direction heartbroken and in mourning.
Now, Louis has taken to social media to call out 'hurtful' comments from people online, which is forcing him off social media platform X.
Taking to X in the early hours of this morning, Louis wrote: 'The last few months have made it impossible to be on here.
'All the conspiracy chat about my relationship, my son or even stretching sometimes to opinions on my Mum.
'It's just too much and too hurtful for me to see! Thank you to everyone who always has my back!'

Since Louis was spotted hanging out with I'm A Celeb winner Sam Thompson's ex Zara McDermott in March, there's been renewed interest in his love life.
Metro spotted the pair together at Glastonbury Festival, and he's since 'hard launched' the Made in Chelsea and Love Island star.
For 15 years now, ever since One Direction were formed on The X Factor, a delusional cohort of fans have been convinced Louis and Harry are secretly in a relationship, despite both men denying these rumours.
The extreme fanbase even went so far as to wrongly suggest Louis' son Freddie Reign Tomlinson, who he welcomed with Briana Jungworth in 2016 and keeps out of the public eye, was actually a doll planted as an elaborate cover up for their relationship.
At the time of Freddie's birth Jungworth reportedly called their wild theories 'sick and morally wrong'.
Freddie, nine, is co-parented by Briana and Louis but lives in the US with his mum, which limits the time he can spend with his dad.
While Louis keeps chat about his son to a minimum, he confessed in 2020 to Fabulous Magazine that having Freddie at 24 had been 'unexpected' and forced him to 'grow up very quickly.'
'It was another one of them moments — being faced with the reality of a situation and having to step up. It was a very maturing time in my life,' Louis continued.
'And, again, I've kind of got between two head spaces. I'm the responsible dad and brother some days and other days I'm still the reckless idiot chav I used to be. I'm still trying to work out a happy medium.'
Louis' sister, Fizzy – as she was affectionately known – was just 18 at the time of her death, and working as a model and aspiring to be a fashion designer.
Speaking to The Guardian at the time, Louis said: 'That whole dark side I've gone through, it sounds stupid to say, but it gives me strength everywhere else in my life because that's the darkest s**t that I'm going to have to deal with.
'So it makes everything else…not feel easier and not less important, but in the grand scheme of things, you see things for what they are.'
When Payne died, Louis took to social media with a moving and lengthy tribute, in which he said he was 'beyond devastated' to lose a 'brother'.
'Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul,' he said.

'I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, I was instantly amazed by his voice but more importantly as time went on I got a chance to see the kind brother I'd longed all my life for.
'Liam was an incredible song writer with a great sense of melody, we often spoke of getting back in the studio together to try and recreate the writing chemistry we had built up in the band.
'And for the record, Liam was in my opinion the most vital part of One Direction. His experience from a young age, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for writing. The list goes on. Thank you for shaping us Liam.'
He then directed a message to Liam, saying: 'I feel beyond lucky to have had you in my life but I'm really struggling with the idea of saying goodbye.
'I'm so grateful that we got even closer since the band, speaking on the phone for hours, reminiscing about all the thousands of amazing memories we had together is a luxury I thought I'd have with you for life. More Trending
'I would have loved to share the stage with you again but it wasn't to be.
'I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was.
'I wish I got a chance to say goodbye and tell you one more time how much I loved you.
'Payno, my boy, one of my best friends, my brother, I love you mate. Sleep well X.'

Coronation Street star confirms 'messy and heated' future for Danielle

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Hell hath no fury like that of a woman scorned as Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) finds out next week when he's left reeling after learning of his wife Danielle's (Natalie Anderson) new relationship… After a painful restorative justice session off the back of lamping conversion therapy preacher, Noah Hedley (Richard Winsor), Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) finds himself becoming privy to some particularly juicy information regarding his boyfriend Theo's wife, Danielle, learning that she is now in a relationship with the wicked preacher… When asked if her character's new relationship meant she'd put her marriage to Theo in the rear-view mirror, Natalie told us: 'Honestly, I don't think she's there. 'I've had this conversation with James, who plays Theo. It's such a rushed relationship, she had the fling with Jason then this is another big thing.' 'There's two things going on. One is trying to show Theo what he's missing with his family life, this is what he's throwing away. 'And there might be an element of her trying to fill the void, Danielle and Theo were married for 19 years, that's a huge amount of time. I've been with my husband 20 years and can't even imagine him not being around. It's a little bit of a rebound.' '[Noah and Danielle] have known of each other and grown up together through the faith with Theo. She has a line about the history between Noah and Theo and says it was their business, she believes Noah was just trying to do right by him. 'They've all come through the church upbringing together. felt for her like a natural person to fill the void of Theo. But also its probably quite pointed, of all the people she could've dated its someone who made his life quite uncomfortable as he was part of Theo's conversion therapy.' As Theo, Danielle and their kids come together at the Bistro, Todd is quick to spill the tea regarding what he's learned…leading to another violent altercation for the fractured family, with Theo accidentally striking his son, Miles (Lewis William Magee). Does Natalie think that Danielle would've revealed the news off of her own back? She says: 'Yes from a perspective of co-parenting she was planning on telling him, and was probably waiting to manage her own feelings first – before Todd steals her thunder and throws her under the bus!' On the Bistro confrontation, Natalie says: 'It all gets a little bit heated, Miles in particular is very upset with Todd, he goes for him and Theo tries to stop him. In the melee this incident happens where Miles ends up with a bloody nose. For Danielle, Todd is at the root of all of this – whether it was an accident or not, Todd has spoilt this and is the thorn in their side.' Todd seeks advice from his ex Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), who calls round and sees bedding on the sofa and implores him to speak with Danielle, who's since banned Theo from seeing his kids… On how that particular conversation goes? Natalie teases: 'Her kids are her life she'll do anything to protect them. 'When Todd reaches out, she does want to take that seriously, until Todd starts being Todd and tries to manipulate the situation and throws his little daggers in there! She's not having any of it and has to go back to the drawing board. Playing those scenes was brilliant.' When Natalie was asked what's to come for Danielle, she said: 'As you can imagine it does get messier and more heated. We fall into two camps between Danielle and Theo, and the children will be caught in the middle of that. It is difficult, and representative of a lot of families going through messy divorces. 'That's been amazing to play and its not something I've done before, there's a lot of figuring out what's next and figuring out what's best for the children. How do we feel about Danielle so far? 'When it starts to become a legal thing, how nasty does that get? It's one thing trying to sort it out between yourselves, but when it gets to that next level things becomes more weaponised. There are some calculating things coming up, I'm not sure the audience will still be on Danielle's side after that!' More Trending On her own journey to the heralded cobbles, Natalie describes her excitement and delight at joining the nations most famous street. '…being in the Grimshaw's with Sue Cleaver and Ryan Thomas, oh my god I'm in Coronation Street with Eileen telling Jason off! I almost forgot I was in the scene I was just watching their spat! I was meant to have left and just stood there in the doorway watching it. Amazing. My first scene in Roy's Rolls with David Neilson was incredible. Getting to shout my head off in the Rovers at Tina O'Brien was another highlight, that was proper!' Coronation Street favourite rushed to hospital during cast-packed wedding

You can't have a soap wedding without some kind of hiccup or obstacle – and Coronation Street are going all out to hit Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) and Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) with disaster on the big day – with the bride rushed to hospital after a collapse. Even before this calamitous end to the very glam and colourful ceremony, there are shenanigans aplenty. The week starts with the stag and hen parties. Having saved money buying cheap suits for Dev and Aadi, Bernie is having a low key hen do in the bistro when word reaches them that the boys have hired a pole dancer at the Rovers. A furious Bernie storms into the Rovers to find the stags cheering on the pole dancer, but is all as it seems? As the big day dawns on Wednesday (August 6th), Dev and Bernie's dream wedding goes from bad to worse when the quads fall ill and have to watch with Joseph on live stream. Meanwhile, Bernie forgets her lucky charm locket containing the photo of Paul and when she runs home to get it she disturbs a burglar. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Back at the Bistro, the guests are entertained by a song from Debbie Webster who suddenly surprises Ronnie with a proposal. If Dev and Bernie's wedding falls apart, at least we might have another to look forward to. After such an eventful start to the day the guests take their seats for the main event and a glowing Bernie walks down the aisle towards Dev to make their vows. With the service about to start, Dev and Bernie share loving looks, but suddenly Bernie struggles to breathe and collapses in front of a shocked Dev. Is the dramatic day about to end in tragedy or will Bernie and Dev tie the knot? 'The day goes from bad to worse!' actress Jane exclaimed. 'That's what is so brilliant about Coronation Street, you don't know what you're going to get until you open the page of the script and that's what is so fantastic about how it plays out – we've got this woman raving down the aisle and the next minute she's collapsed and an ambulance is on its way!' More Trending Jane also revealed that she had a hand in the design of Bernie's unconventional wedding dress. She added: 'I knew that Bernie wouldn't go down the road of wearing a traditional dress. I had seen some old footage of Elkie Brookes on TV and she was wearing a kaftan. 'I am a big fan of Elkie so that was the initial inspiration, but this is for Bernie so it needed to be a bit extra. View More » 'Our fantastic talented costume department came up with the 1970s style white dress that is a bit Elkie Brookes, a bit Demis Roussos and very Bernie Winter.' Strictly star swaps ballroom for Hollywood with movie debut

Olympic champion and former Strictly Come Dancing star Nicola Adams has lined up her debut acting role in an upcoming Hollywood movie. Former professional boxer Nicola, 42, appeared on the 18th series of the BBC dance competition in 2020. She made history when partnered with professional dancer Katya Jones as the show's first-ever same-sex partnership. However, her Strictly dreams were cut abruptly short when they were forced to withdraw during the fourth week of the competition, after Katya tested positive for Covid-19. The two-time Olympic champ will now pursue another dream—turning her hand to acting in an upcoming movie. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. Nicola will star alongside Poppy Delevigne, Jack Kesy, and Bruce Willis's daughter, Rumer, in the allegorical thriller The Gun on Second Street. Talking about her career move, Nicola told The Sun: 'I just want to work with people that are just as hungry as I am. 'I'm not one of those people that just show up and just expect everything to be fine. 'I put in the work, I put in the graft, just as I do as an athlete as well. I want to take it as far as I can in terms of how I grow as an actor, being able to experience different types of roles, playing different characters that really flex my abilities and my ability to be able to dig deep on the emotions that are needed for the more dark characters.' Written and directed by Rohit Karn Batra, its story follows two police officers who are called to a domestic violence dispute on the titular Second Street in Philadelphia. The call-out goes awry when one officer accidentally shoots and kills the other. The film is described as an allegory about the gun crisis in America. At present, Nicola is listed on IMDB, although her character has not been named. Nicola rose to fame during the Olympics in 2012, becoming the first female boxer to win Olympic Gold for Britain. She went on to successfully defend her title at Rio 2016, before winning the title of WBO (World Boxing Organisation) flyweight in 2019. The athlete was forced into an early retirement that same year due to a serious eye injury, having only fought six times as a pro. She returned to the spotlight the very next year as a Strictly hopeful and has since expressed how much she'd love to return as a contestant due to 'unfinished business' after her premature departure. Of her decision to retire, Nicola said in 2019: 'I'm immensely honoured to have represented our country—to win double Olympic gold medals and then the WBO championship belt is a dream come true. 'But it's not without taking its toll on my body, and aside from the expected aches and pains, I've been advised that any further impact to my eye would most likely lead to irreparable damage and permanent vision loss. 'Boxing has always been such an important part of my life—and it always will—but after training every day for over 20 years, my body is quite looking forward to a rest!' More recently, Nicola is reported to have split from her partner of seven years, Ella Baig. The boxer began dating the OnlyFans model, 27, after they met on a night out in 2018. More Trending Now, the couple share two-year-old son, Taylor Nate, who was born via IVF using one of Nicola's eggs. A spokesperson told The Sun in March: 'Nicola and Ella have shared an incredible journey together, full of love, growth, and resilience. 'After much thoughtful reflection and important therapy work, they have made the difficult decision to separate. View More » 'Their priority remains their son, Taylor, and they are committed to co-parenting with love and respect.' Got a story?
