‘Who stopped you from implementing the caste census report?': H D Kumaraswamy asks Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy Sunday slammed Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah following the latter's allegations that Kumaraswamy had stalled the implementation of the Social and Educational Survey Report – popularly known as caste census – compiled by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes during his tenure as chief minister.
Speaking at the Janata Dal (Secular) state headquarters in Bengaluru, after flagging off the party's state tour and membership campaign under Nikhil Kumaraswamy, president of the JD(S) youth wing, the Union Minister asked why the Karnataka government had not accepted its report during its two-year tenure. The state government has recently decided to scrap the Survey carried out in 2015 and go for a fresh survey of various castes in the state.
'The CM has falsely claimed that I threatened the then-minister C Puttarangashetty not to accept the caste census report,' Kumaraswamy said, countering Siddaramaiah's remarks made last Thursday. The CM had alleged that though the Survey report was ready during Kumaraswamy's tenure as CM, he had decided against accepting the report.
'It's been two years since you came to power. Who has stopped you from implementing the caste census? Aren't you the so-called champion of backward classes? Then why haven't you implemented it?' he asked.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP and JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda responded to the contention that the JD(S) as a regional party would not survive after him. The former prime minister said the 'party has survived and will survive after I am gone'.
Reacting to the loss of the party in the Channapatna bypoll last year, Deve Gowda said, 'One defeat cannot shake us. We will rise again, and the party has that strength.'
Responding to accusations that the JD(S) was a family-run party, Deve Gowda maintained that it was a party of its workers. 'Many great leaders have held office through this party, and many are still serving. Some have held positions and left, but the party has endured. Between two national parties, JD(S) has remained a strong regional force,' he said.

Bengaluru: As this year's Vijayadashami coincides with Gandhi Jayanti, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday directed officials that tableaux prepared for the Mysuru Dasara celebrations must reflect Mahatma Gandhi's ideals. He said Gandhi's philosophy should be suitably represented alongside the government's welfare schemes and achievements. 'This year Dasara falls on Gandhi Jayanti -- on October 2. So, I have instructed officials that Dasara should be celebrated in a manner that makes Gandhi Jayanti meaningful. Especially the tableaux should reflect Gandhi's ideals,' the CM told reporters. Siddaramaiah briefed reporters after presiding over a high-level committee meeting at Vidhana Soudha on the preparations for Dasara-2025. The CM said the historical and cultural significance of the festival should not be overshadowed by sheer extravagance. He emphasised that unnecessary spending does not amount to grandeur and that public safety and convenience must be the top priority. 'This year, Dasara will begin on September 22 and culminate with the Jamboo Savari on October 2, making it an 11-day event, instead of the usual 10,' the CM said. He emphasised that the programmes should be designed to uphold the rich cultural, religious, and historical traditions of the Mysuru Dasara, which is globally renowned. He stated that while Rs 40 crore was allocated last year, adequate funds will be provided this year as well to organise a grand celebration. He asked departments to plan meaningful exhibitions and displays to showcase government initiatives and guarantee schemes in a way that connects with the public. ' He also called for people-centric policies to be effectively communicated during the festivities. With more than 10 lakh people expected to attend, including foreign tourists, the CM directed officials to give the utmost attention to crowd management and safety measures. He said police personnel must be people-friendly and law and order should be maintained without any lapses. The number of seats in front of the Mysore Palace will be reduced this time to manage crowding during the Jamboo Savari. Officials were asked to ensure that there is no overcrowding at any of the programme venues.

Operating in the S-band frequency, this radar can detect and track targets at a distance of up to 600 kilometers. Without the Big Bird radar, the S-400 is ineffective! What makes 91N6E Big Bird special for Russia's air defense network is its radar's ability to detect and track targets.
