‘Who stopped you from implementing the caste census report?': H D Kumaraswamy asks Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah
Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries H D Kumaraswamy Sunday slammed Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah following the latter's allegations that Kumaraswamy had stalled the implementation of the Social and Educational Survey Report – popularly known as caste census – compiled by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes during his tenure as chief minister.
Speaking at the Janata Dal (Secular) state headquarters in Bengaluru, after flagging off the party's state tour and membership campaign under Nikhil Kumaraswamy, president of the JD(S) youth wing, the Union Minister asked why the Karnataka government had not accepted its report during its two-year tenure. The state government has recently decided to scrap the Survey carried out in 2015 and go for a fresh survey of various castes in the state.
'The CM has falsely claimed that I threatened the then-minister C Puttarangashetty not to accept the caste census report,' Kumaraswamy said, countering Siddaramaiah's remarks made last Thursday. The CM had alleged that though the Survey report was ready during Kumaraswamy's tenure as CM, he had decided against accepting the report.
'It's been two years since you came to power. Who has stopped you from implementing the caste census? Aren't you the so-called champion of backward classes? Then why haven't you implemented it?' he asked.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP and JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda responded to the contention that the JD(S) as a regional party would not survive after him. The former prime minister said the 'party has survived and will survive after I am gone'.
Reacting to the loss of the party in the Channapatna bypoll last year, Deve Gowda said, 'One defeat cannot shake us. We will rise again, and the party has that strength.'
Responding to accusations that the JD(S) was a family-run party, Deve Gowda maintained that it was a party of its workers. 'Many great leaders have held office through this party, and many are still serving. Some have held positions and left, but the party has endured. Between two national parties, JD(S) has remained a strong regional force,' he said.

Gandhian ideals to find place in Dasara tableaux: CM
Bengaluru: As this year's Vijayadashami coincides with Gandhi Jayanti, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday directed officials that tableaux prepared for the Mysuru Dasara celebrations must reflect Mahatma Gandhi's ideals. He said Gandhi's philosophy should be suitably represented alongside the government's welfare schemes and achievements. 'This year Dasara falls on Gandhi Jayanti -- on October 2. So, I have instructed officials that Dasara should be celebrated in a manner that makes Gandhi Jayanti meaningful. Especially the tableaux should reflect Gandhi's ideals,' the CM told reporters. Siddaramaiah briefed reporters after presiding over a high-level committee meeting at Vidhana Soudha on the preparations for Dasara-2025. The CM said the historical and cultural significance of the festival should not be overshadowed by sheer extravagance. He emphasised that unnecessary spending does not amount to grandeur and that public safety and convenience must be the top priority. 'This year, Dasara will begin on September 22 and culminate with the Jamboo Savari on October 2, making it an 11-day event, instead of the usual 10,' the CM said. He emphasised that the programmes should be designed to uphold the rich cultural, religious, and historical traditions of the Mysuru Dasara, which is globally renowned. He stated that while Rs 40 crore was allocated last year, adequate funds will be provided this year as well to organise a grand celebration. He asked departments to plan meaningful exhibitions and displays to showcase government initiatives and guarantee schemes in a way that connects with the public. ' He also called for people-centric policies to be effectively communicated during the festivities. With more than 10 lakh people expected to attend, including foreign tourists, the CM directed officials to give the utmost attention to crowd management and safety measures. He said police personnel must be people-friendly and law and order should be maintained without any lapses. The number of seats in front of the Mysore Palace will be reduced this time to manage crowding during the Jamboo Savari. Officials were asked to ensure that there is no overcrowding at any of the programme venues.

Zelensky brings Putin to its keens as Ukraine pierces Russia's S-400 air defense system, destroyed radar in drone strike, big worry for India due to…
Russia-Ukraine conflict heading towards Third World War? This country ready to send its troops to Kiev, not US, Poland, France, name is... Kyiv: Russia, which has been entangled in war with Ukraine for over 40 months now, has suffered a major setback. According to the reports, Ukraine has successfully carried out a drone strike in Crimea and managed to breach Russia's S-400 air defense system. This system is one of Russia's most crucial weapons for protection against aerial attacks. Russia has also sold this system to several other countries, including India. In such a scenario, Ukraine's ability to penetrate the S-400 not only threatens Russia's own security but could also impact its arms exports. For India, too, the questions being raised about the capabilities of the S-400 may be a cause for concern. Ukraine carried out a drone strike on a key component of Russia's S-400 air defense system—the 91N6E Big Bird radar on Thursday, Ukraine's military intelligence agency, the GUR. The strike was conducted by the GUR's Ghosts Unit and damaged several components of the S-400 system, including the multifunction radar and missile launchers. The attack took place in Crimea, a region that has been strategically important for Russia since it was annexed in 2014. How GUR destroyed S-400? According to the reports, the GUR used suicide drones to target the S-400 system in Crimea. The GUR is low-cost drones have become a key weapon for the Ukrainian military against Russia. In the attack, Ukraine's GUR destroyed two 91N6E Big Bird radars, which are integrated into Russia's S-400 air defense network as early warning systems. 91N6E Big Bird radar: It is important to note that the 91N6E Big Bird radar is considered the backbone of Russia's S-400 Triumph air defense system. 91N6E Big Bird is designed to detect and provide information on aerial threats ranging from ballistic missiles to stealth aircraft. Operating in the S-band frequency, this radar can detect and track targets at a distance of up to 600 kilometers. Without the Big Bird radar, the S-400 is ineffective! What makes 91N6E Big Bird special for Russia's air defense network is its radar's ability to detect and track targets. The 91N6E uses a Passive Electronically Scanned Array (PESA). 91N6E design emphasizes mobility. Without the Big Bird radar, the S-400's ability to detect and intercept long-range targets becomes significantly limited.

LoP Ashoka predicts change of guard in Karnataka before Dasara
MYSURU: Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R Ashoka has claimed that there would be a change of guard in Karnataka ahead of this year's Dasara festivities. Speaking to the media in Mysuru on Saturday, Ashoka predicted that the Dasara festivities will not be held under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. 'We will have a new Chief Minister before Dasara. I have already said this in the Assembly. A change is inevitable. There is already an internal fight for the Chief Minister's post in the Congress. What you're seeing now is just a trailer, the full film will play out soon. The new CM will inaugurate Dasara festivities. Even Congress MLAs and ministers are acknowledging this. Siddaramaiah is engaging in politics built on lies. The power struggle in Congress has peaked,' he said. On the possible change in leadership in Karnataka BJP, Ashoka dismissed any speculation. 'There have been no discussions about changing the state president or the LoP. I am required to visit Delhi every three months to submit a report to the party high command. I went yesterday and did just that. There's no election for the state president right now. That process will happen much later, after changes in other states,' he said. Reacting to a meeting of BJP leaders at former deputy chief minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan's residence in Bengaluru on Friday, Ashoka said, 'The meeting was supposed to be at my house, but since I was away, it was held at his place instead. The party has instructed us to hold meetings of senior leaders every fortnight to sort out any confusion.'
