The Knicks still trail Indiana 3-2, but live to play another game as the series shifts back to Indianapolis for Game 6, where the Knicks will have to fend off elimination once again.
New York seemingly did everything right, particularly on the defensive end of the court. They held Pascal Siakam and Tyrese Haliburton to a combined 23 points on 7-of-20 shooting.

The Pacers had chances to climb back into the game, cutting the Knicks' lead to single digits twice. But every time it felt as though momentum was shifting, the Knicks would make a big shot or get a key turnover to keep things going their way.

Former NBA guard Jay Williams was particularly impressed with the Knicks and is feeling optimistic about their chances of coming back to win the series.
"That team that we saw last night, ... is not only the reason why they have a chance to win this series, but that gives them a fighting shot against OKC," Williams said. "I will still have OKC favored, but if that [Knicks] team shows up, that will give them their best odds to compete for a World Championship."
While Williams may be putting the cart before the horse, the Knicks' performance was impressive. They made Tyrese Haliburton incredibly uncomfortable, picking him up the length of the floor. While Haliburton didn't have a turnover, the Knicks forced the rest of the Pacers into 20 of them.

If the Knicks can win Game 6 in Indianapolis, the odds would likely be in their favor for winning Game 7.

The rare opportunity Cooper Flagg has that makes him feel ‘blessed'

Cooper Flagg is in a rare, but fortunate situation. Most first overall draft picks are tasked with instantly becoming the No. 1 option of a team coming off all-time-low types of seasons – but Flagg won't necessarily have that burden as he joins a Dallas Mavericks team alongside likely future Hall of Famers Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving. Advertisement 'A lot of people in this position or this situation aren't granted this opportunity, so I just feel really blessed and grateful for the situation I've been given,' Flagg said Friday during his Mavericks introductory press conference. 'I'm just looking forward to being a sponge. Just getting down here, I'm excited to just learn, soak it all in and learn from the guys that are older and have been through it all before.' NBAE via Getty Images Dallas is fresh off a 2024 NBA Finals appearance led by now-Laker Luka Doncic, but the Mavericks found themselves in the draft lottery following season-derailing injuries to Davis and Irving following the blockbuster Doncic trade. With just a 1.8 percent chance at landing the No. 1 pick in the draft, the unthinkable became reality as the Mavericks captured Flagg. Kyrie Irving is recovering from a torn ACL but will likely be in the mix for the Mavericks at the end of next season. AP Despite missing the playoffs, the foundation remains for the team to be contenders with a roster that, aside from Doncic, remained mostly intact after the 2024 finals run. Advertisement While Irving likely won't return from his ACL injury until the back half of the season, Davis and another future Hall of Famer, Klay Thompson, who was added last offseason, should provide plenty of stability for Flagg to find his NBA footing while not needing to instantly take on a colossal workload. 'Those guys have so much knowledge,' Flagg said of his new veteran teammates. 'They've been through so much, and they have so much experience that it's just going to be an incredible opportunity for me to learn and grow under them.' Anthony Davis was acquired by the Mavericks in the Luka Doncic trade but dealt with injuries upon his arrival. Getty Images While he may not be the No. 1 option right away, Flagg will seemingly take the torch of the franchise that was passed first from Dirk Nowitzki to Doncic. Advertisement 'I'm coming in just trying to learn and trying to get better every single day,' Flagg said. 'If I can do that to the best of my ability, I think expectations and pressures that other people will put on me and our team, that will kind of work itself out. 'So I'm just trying to come in and be the best that I can be and just win at the highest level.'

New Nuggets trade acquisition Jonas Valanciunas could leave for Greece in wild turn

Don't go buying that Jonas Valanciunas Nuggets swag just yet. The veteran big man is 'close' to joining Greek team Panathinaikos in a shocking turn after Denver agreed to acquire him from Sacramento earlier this week, according to Valanciunas, 33, reportedly has been offered a three-year deal worth roughly $13 million per season. The Nuggets would pay him $10.395 million this upcoming season and have a team option worth $10 million for the 2026-27 season. Valanciunas could seek a buyout to head to Greece, per NBA Insider Marc Stein. However, doing so would put the two NBA teams involved in this transaction in a tough spot. 4 Jonas Valanciunas is thinking of playing in Greece. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect The Nuggets landed the former first-round pick in a trade that sent Dario Saric to the Kings, but the deal cannot be completed until the new league year begins July 6. The teams are still expected to proceed with the deal despite the uncertainty, per The Denver Post. The deal gives the Nuggets a better interior piece to serve as Nikola Jokic's backup with two possible years of control, while the Kings freed up future space since Saric is on an expiring deal. Valancinuas, a native of Lithuania who played in Europe for four seasons before entering the NBA, at first liked joining the Nuggets, since he would be on a championship contender, per 4 The Nuggets though they had a backup for Nikola Jokic. AP However, the offer from the Greek powerhouse changed the complexion. The deal provides more financial security over a longer stretch, while also allowing him to play for a championship contender, according to the outlet. 4 Panathinaikos is a EuroLeague powerhosue. Giannis Alexopoulos/NurPhoto/Shutterstock Valanciunas cannot just head to the EuroLeague, though, since the Nuggets hold his rights, as noted by The Denver Post. The sides could potentially try to agree to a buyout or a contract restructuring closer to the offered terms, while it's always possible Denver could agree to decline his player option next season. One major concern for the Nuggets is that there are few quality centers available to obtain at this point, although Al Horford has yet to agree to a deal. Denver, after falling to the champion Thunder in seven games in the second round, has already agreed to one blockbuster this offseason in sending Michael Porter Jr. to the Nets for Cam Johnson. 4 Valancinuas during an April 2025 game. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Valancinuas has played for five teams in his 13-season career and has averaged 10.4 points and 7.7 rebounds last season with the Kings and Wizards. He's tallied 13.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game for his career.

Myles Turner Is A Great Fit On The Milwaukee Bucks

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - JANUARY 27: Myles Turner #33 of the Indiana Pacers dunks the ball past Brook ... More Lopez #11 of the Milwaukee Bucks in the fourth quarter at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on January 27, 2023 in Indianapolis, Indiana. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. (Photo by) Getty Images The Milwaukee Bucks just shook up the NBA landscape, pulling off one of the wildest moves of the offseason by snagging Myles Turner away from the Indiana Pacers. Somehow, some way, the Bucks and Turner agreed on a four-year, $107 million deal, with a player option tacked on at the end. Here's how the bag breaks down: $24.9 million in 2025-26 $26.1 million in 2026-27 $27.4 million in 2027-28 $28.6 million player option in 2028-29 What's slick is that even though the dollar amount climbs each year, the chunk of the cap it takes actually shrinks—from 16.09 percent in Year 1 continuously dropping down to 14.97 percent if he opts in for that final season. Of course, making this happen came at a cost. The Bucks had to rip the bandage off and wave goodbye to Damian Lillard, stretching his cap hit over five years in a move that had fans and analysts heated. But that's a conversation for another day. Right now, let's talk hoops—because Turner's fit in Milwaukee is straight-up seamless. The frontcourt duo of Turner and Giannis Antetokounmpo has serious potential. Turner's sliding right into Brook Lopez's old spot, but, at this stage in their respective careers, he's Lopez 2.0 with a turbo upgrade. Turner's got that modern big man game on lock. He's a legit floor-stretcher, hitting 37 percent or better from three in two of his last three seasons. He's cashing in catch-and-shoot looks at a 40 percent clip, which is perfect for playing off Giannis, who's gonna be in full point guard mode again. You'll see plenty of pick-and-pop with Giannis and even Kevin Porter Jr., keeping defenses honest and the paint clear for rim attacks. Turner can roll and finish too, but he's not some post-up bruiser—more of a finesse guy who knows when to dive and when to drift. Defensively, Turner's reputation precedes him. He was once swatting everything in sight—he peaked at a ridiculous 5.5 percent block rate in 2020-21. That number dipped to 3.3 percent last year, which ain't what it used to be, but he's still a major paint presence. His quick footwork and length let him stay with guards on switches better than most bigs. That kind of versatility is exactly what Milwaukee needs to juice up their scheme and switch more freely. He's not gonna lead the league in boards, but that's why you've got Giannis—the man vacuums up rebounds like it's nothing. Sure, Turner won't have a playmaking wizard like Tyrese Haliburton setting him up anymore. But let's not act like Giannis doesn't spoon-feed guys wide-open looks. Just ask Malik Beasley and Gary Trent Jr., both of whom saw their stocks rise just by running with the Greek Freak. The bottom line is Turner is an A+ fit on both ends and fills a need the Bucks couldn't afford to whiff on. Cap gymnastics aside, they landed a guy 29 other teams would've happily paid for. Milwaukee pulled a fast one, and we'll see how it pays off on the court.
