Northern Ireland star and former Larne and Portadown hero secures switch to ambitious EFL outfit
Bonis (25) impressed after making the switch to the Netherlands from Larne in the summer of 2024, bagging 11 League goals to help fire Den Haag into the Promotion Play-Offs.
He missed out on the chance to play in the Eredivisie in the 2025/26 season after the Storks lost out over two legs to eventual Play-Off winners Telstar, but it was still a highly successful campaign for the former Seagoe man as he also made his senior Northern Ireland debut in a goalless draw against Belarus back in October.
Bonis remained in Michael O'Neill's fold and played in both legs of a friendly double-header against Switzerland and Sweden in March as well as the home victory over Iceland in June.
Now he will aim to help the Spireites – who reached the League Two Play-Offs in 2024/25, their first season back in the EFL after gaining promotion from the National League – push on and make a fresh bid to reach the third-tier.
Bonis is no stranger to silverware having previously won back-to-back Irish League crowns with Larne in 2023 and 2024 prior to his Den Haag switch as well as the Championship title in 2020 with Portadown, from whom he was a reported £100,000 purchase for the Invermen back in January 2022.
'We are delighted to announce the arrival of Northern Ireland international Lee Bonis from Dutch side ADO Den Haag for an undisclosed fee,' confirmed Chesterfield on social media.
ADO Den Haag posted on their channels: 'Lee Bonis will no longer play for ADO Den Haag next season.
'The club has reached an agreement with Chesterfield on the transfer of the 25-year-old Northern Ireland striker.'

Conor Coady on Rangers transfer brink a year after Ibrox near miss led them to Robin Propper
The Scouser is set to join Joe Rothwell in a double deal for Russell Martin Rangers are closing in on the signing of Conor Coady - a year after Philippe Clement almost landed him. The Light Blues are expected to get the go-ahead from Leicester City over the next 24 to 48 hours to sign the former England international. Rangers are ready to offer the 32-year-old a long term deal to get him to Ibrox - with Joe Rothwell also set to move to Ibrox from Bournemouth to make it a double signing. Coady had previously worked with Rangers' sporting director Kevin Thelwell and that was believed to have been the catalyst for the deal. Record Sport, however, can reveal that Coady has been on the Rangers' radar for more than a year. The Light Blues almost signed the big central defender last season. Clement and former transfer chief Nils Koppen were close to agreeing a season-loan deal with Leicester City last summer. Coady had been deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca after the Foxes promotion back to the English Premier League. That opened the door for Rangers and was when Clement made his move. The deal was on the verge of happening and talks had taken place before Maresca left for Chelsea. New Leicester City boss Steve Cooper then came in and insisted Coady was going to be a big part of his plans. The season didn't go to plan as Cooper was quickly sacked and the Midlands club ended up getting relegated. Rangers then made a move for Dutch defender Robin Propper from FC Twente. Coady, however, looks like he will get his move to Rangers at the second time of asking! Now Russell Martin looks set to land him after his predecessor, Clement, missed out. A motion to approve Sunday football in Northern Ireland has been approved at the Irish FA's annual general meeting. The proposal, brought forward by the Northern Ireland Football League [NIFL], gained a 76% majority on Monday with chief executive Gerard Lawlor believing it is a necessary step in efforts to improve standards of the competition."The NIFL Board holds firm in its belief that being professional is more than a label, it is a standard we must reach and uphold in every sense," he said."The landscape of professional football is changing rapidly throughout the world, and Northern Ireland must evolve with it, or risk being left behind."We are pleased with the outcome and look forward to further engagement and implementation with our member clubs."The proposal will only apply to NIFL competitions, which are the three men's top divisions, the Women's Premiership and their respective League Cup Irish FA's rules stated "no match shall be played within Northern Ireland on a Sunday unless the two participating clubs and competition organisers agree to do so".An amendment to this was first proposed by NIFL two years ago but was rejected by a large that occasion, NIFL had proposed an amendment by saying it "shall not apply to matches played under the auspices" of the governing time, the motion for Sunday football was put forward with the caveat that Irish League clubs had the option to opt in or out through their participation amendment means matches in the top three flights of football in Northern Ireland, which come under NIFL's jurisdiction, could be played on any day of the week."The data is clear: traditional Saturday afternoon attendances are in decline. Man Utd star's 'marriage over' as ace 'sick of model wife's spiritual lifestyle'
Matthijs De Ligt married stunning Dutch model AnneKee Molenaar last summer, but the couple have reportedly split after just a year of marriage, with the Manchester United defender said to be 'sick of her spiritual lifestyle' Manchester United's Matthijs De Ligt is reportedly parting ways with wife AnneKee Molenaar, just a year after they got married. The 25 year-old defender married the gorgeous Dutch model last summer in an intimate ceremony. His transfer to Old Trafford from Bayern Munich and the Netherlands' journey to the Euro 2024 semi-finals both occurred last summer too, meaning the couple were planning to celebrate their nuptials this month with a grand party in Italy, surrounded by friends and family. However, according to Dutch outlet DenD, the party was abruptly cancelled. It's claimed that De Ligt has jetted off to Barbados without AnneKee, 25, after spending last week alone in Ibiza. A source close to the pair has, it's claimed, stated that their marriage is over. "Initially, there was talk of 'some time for themselves' and holidaying separately, but it is now reportedly definitely over," DenD reported, via Realityfbi. "Matthijs is said to have travelled to Ibiza alone this week and was in Barbados for this." According to Realityfbi, De Ligt is said to have grown increasingly bothered by his wife's spiritual lifestyle. "Apparently, Matthijs can no longer handle Annekee's exaggerated 'spiriwiri-content'", the channel reported last week. The model's Instagram is a treasure trove of bizarre posts, including one with an alien spaceship emoji caption, snaps of her browsing for gemstones and crystals, delving into tarot fortune-telling books, and donning a top emblazoned with a cannabis symbol. She also has her own "Alchemia" page and business. "Alchemia" is the Italian and Polish word for alchemy, the ancient chemical practice focused on transmuting base metals into gold and discovering the elixir of life. AnneKee's Instagram still showcases photos of De Ligt, yet it's been seven weeks since the United centre-back last featured in her social media updates, following a date night they shared. The couple's romance sparked in Amsterdam as the towering 6ft 2in defender was cutting his teeth with Ajax, but it wasn't until 2023 that he popped the question. Their wedding was timed around the Champions League final, which saw the groom dash that evening to join the Netherlands squad for Euro 2024 that very evening. "It's actually funny because the way the planning for our civil wedding went is a reflection of our relationship in general," AnneKee once quipped to Dutch Vogue. "At first, we planned to get married at the end of May, on our anniversary, but then it looked like Matthijs would make it to the Champions League final with Bayern Munich. So, we had to reschedule everything at the last moment."
