In-depth look at Shamrock Rovers' potential Euro opponents and fixture details

Shamrock Rovers Europa Conference League campaign will begin late next month against the winners of the first qualifying round tie between St Joseph's of Gibraltar and NIFL Premiership side Cliftonville.
Wednesday's second qualifying round draw at UEFA HQ in Nyon has thrown up the possibility of a second all-Ireland European tie this summer, with Shelbourne due to face Linfield in the Champions League.
It's a favourable draw for the Hoops. St Joseph's lost their only European tie against Irish opposition when they were eliminated from the Conference League by Shelbourne last year.
And while Rovers have lost to a Northern Irish side before in continental competition - on away goals against Linfield in 1984/85 European Cup - they hammered Larne last year in the league phase of the Conference League, winning 4-1 in Belfast.
Rovers and Cliftonville last met in friendly action in June 2022, with the Dublin side winning 1-0 in Solitude. Aidomo Emakhu, now at Millwall, scored the only goal from the penalty spot.
Here's the lowdown on Rovers' two potential second round opponents.
The majority of the team that faced Shelbourne last summer are still at St Joseph's, so it shouldn't be too much trouble getting footage of the side from Gibraltar. And their manager from last year, Abraham Paz, is still in charge. His playing career saw him play mostly in his homeland of Spain, as well as a five-year spell in Israel. He has been in charge of St Joseph's since June 2022. As a player, he won the Spanish second division with Cadiz in 2005.
They have plenty of players who are familiar with the big-match occasion, including goalkeeper Bradley Banda, Liam Walker and Mitch Gibson, who all featured in Gibraltar's 7-0 World Cup qualifier defeat to Croatia on June 6.
Their manager, Jim Magilton, was assistant at Shamrock Rovers with Michael O'Neill when, in 2011, the Hoops qualified for the group stages of European competition (Europa League) for the first time.
While they finished seventh in last year's NIFL, they won the League Cup.
There are plenty of Cliftonville players that will be familiar to League of Ireland fans, including goalkeeper David Odumosu, who played for Drogheda United and St Patrick's Athletic before moving to Solitude.
Dubliner and former Ireland underage international was on the books at St Pat's before a spell in Scotland, while Rory Hale lined out for Galway United and Derry City. He represented both Northern Ireland (Under-19) and Ireland (Under-21) at international level.
Striker Joe Gormley, meanwhile, has often been linked with moves to the League of Ireland, with Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley admitting last year that he tried to sign the 35-year-old.
'I obviously signed Rhys Marshall, I tried to sign Joe Gormley back in the day, I tried to sign a few players,' said Bradley ahead of Rovers' Conference League clash with Larne.
This is just the eighth season that St Joseph's have competed in Europe. So far, they have managed to progress past their first round just twice - although, ominously for Cliftonville, one of those was against Larne in the Conference League in 2022.
Otherwise, they have lost out to AEL Limassol (0-10 on aggregate), B36 Torshavn twice (penalties and 1-2), Glasgow Rangers (0-10), Levadia (2-4), Slavia Prague (0-11) and Shelbourne (2-3).
Cliftonville first played in Europe in 1979, when they lost 8-0 on aggregate to Nantes. Since then they have progressed through at least one round in 2007 (Intertoto Cup), beating Dinaburg of Latvia, in 2010 against Cibalia of Croatia, in 2016 by beating Luxembourg side Differdange and in 2019 against Welsh outfit Barry Town (all in the Europa League).
If they progress past St Joseph's, this will be their first ever meeting with a League of Ireland side in Europe.
St Joseph's were pipped by Lincoln Red Imps on goal-difference for the league title. Having led the table at the end of the regular season, with a three-point advantage over their rivals, they were overtaken in the five-game Championship Group round. They went out of the Cup at the quarter-final stage.
It wasn't the best campaign for Cliftonville in the league, as they finished seventh in the NIFL Premiership, 30 points behind winners Linfield. They secured European qualification by beating Glentoran and Coleraine in the semi-finals and final respectively of the Conference League play-off.
Not only did Cliftonville beat Glentoran to a European spot, but they also claimed League Cup gold over the same team at Windsor Park in March. Their defence of the Irish Cup they won in 2024, however, ended in defeat in the final to Dungannon Swifts, who won on penalties.
The two-legged ties will take place on July 24 and 31 - and Shamrock Rovers have been drawn away from home in the first-leg. Match dates and kick-off times will be confirmed by June 23.

‘You've got to be ruthless' – Stephen Bradley has crucial advice for Shamrock Rovers star Michael Noonan

STEPHEN Bradley has urged Michael Noonan to be ruthless in front of goal. Noonan became the Advertisement 2 Noonan has scored six goals from 10 starts in the league this season 2 Bradley hopes to lead Rovers back to the Conference League league phase for the second year in a row On his 17th birthday on Thursday, the striker had a good chance to add to his European tally - and might have had a penalty - as And he has told him to follow the example of Johnny Kenny who bagged seven European goals for Rovers during a loan spell last season and has since broken into the first-team picture at Bradley said: 'That's a part of his development and learning that European nights are special and when the opportunities come, you've got to be ruthless and take them. 'You can see the level was down in the game, obviously. And when it's like that, you need to go and grab it and make it. 'I know there's a few years in the difference, but that's where a little bit will help Michael develop and understand that every time he crosses the white line it's a chance to go and score goals. 'He's 17, I'm being a tad bit harsh on him. But that's the level that he plays at, you have to really push him and push him. And that's what he wants, to be fair, speaking to him there. 'But we were just off it, all of us, obviously. It's a nice little bit of learning for him there in terms of understanding that in games like this, to be ruthless, leave the pitch with one or two goals.' They've obviously invested really heavily in their squad, which is clear to see. 'And it's what we want in the league, we want competition, we want good squads and teams. But with that comes expectation. 'So, they will come here, I've no doubt on Sunday, and will look to win the game. We've got to be ready for that. And we will be. We've got to expect the best Derry that they have. And we've got to make sure we match that.' The left-winger is a really good player, he's a handful. Both wingers are good. So that will be a tough tie.' Bradley reckons they remind him of NK Celje, a side Rovers beat last year before the Slovenes went on to narrowly lose to Fiorentina in the quarter-finals of the Conference League. He said: 'Maybe they have flashes of Celje about them, that type of really technical players. And then on the sides they've got real pace and directness. 'Celje would probably be the ones that you would say. And obviously they've gone on to be really good. It will be a tough tie, but we're well used to it.' Advertisement

What Stephen Bradley told birthday boy Michael Noonan after Euro stalemate

Stephen Bradley reckons there is a valuable lesson in Shamrock Rovers' snooze-fest against St Joseph's on Thursday night for birthday boy Michael Noonan. And he believes the youngster has the appetite for as much information as possible as he continues to impress with his performances and goalscoring feats. Rovers didn't get out of second gear against their opponents from Gibraltar - but they could be excused for that as they did all the hard work in the first-leg and brought a four-goal lead into the Tallaght Stadium return. It was a night when chances were few and far between for teen hotshot Noonan, who turned 17 on Thursday. He should have had a penalty late on after he was fouled by Javi Paul inside the six-yard box, but Swiss referee Granit Maqedonci didn't spot an infringement. But according to Bradley, it was an opportunity for Noonan to grab the game by the scruff of the neck. 'I'm just saying that to him there, that's a part of his development, learning that European nights are special and when the opportunities come, you've got to be ruthless and take them,' said the Hoops boss. 'You can see the level was down in the game, obviously. And when it's like that, you need to go and grab it and make it. Bradley added that he is constantly showing the teenager clips of his performances, identifying where he can improve as a player. The Hoops' aggregate win means they face Kosovan outfit Ballkani next Thursday in the away leg, before the tie is settled in Tallaght Stadium a week later. First up is a return to Premier Division action against Derry City on Sunday evening at Tallaght Stadium. 'I've said many times throughout the years that I like when we play regular games, I think it's when we are at our best and our sharpest,' said Bradley. 'So, it's good to be playing Derry and then going into a European game. I'm looking forward to it and we are well used to it, so I'm looking forward to it.' Stephen Kenny's St Pat's to face ex-Man Utd star's side in Conference League

St Pat's will take on Turkish giants Besiktas after advancing to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League. It took extra-time to split the Saints and Estonian side Nõmme Kalju FC in Tallinn on Thursday evening, with Stephen Kenny's side eventually going through 3-2 on aggregate. They will now face Besiktas, who are managed by former Manchester United player and manger Ole Gunnar Solskjær. A stoppage goal from Joe Redmond saved St Pat's from being knocked out of the Conference League, before Jake Mulraney's extra-time strike secured the League of Ireland side's progression to the third qualifying round. Having led 1-0 from the first leg, St. Pat's conceded goals on either side of half-time to the Estonian team, falling behind 2-1 on aggregate. Ivans Patrikejevs and Mattias Mannilaan scored in Tallinn, pushing the visitors to the edge of elimination. However, a dramatic late response from Redmond, who was quickest to react after the goalkeeper parried a free-kick, and a spectacular long-range curler from Mulraney resulted in a 3-2 overall victory, propelling St. Pat's into a clash with Besiktas.
