Prince Harry offers to share his personal diary with the royals in attempt to ‘deconflict': report

New York Post13 hours ago
Prince Harry has proved he's serious about reconciling with his estranged family members after offering to share his diary dates with the royal family.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, has offered up a transparent view of his calendar to senior members of the Firm in a desperate attempt at repairing their fractured relationship.
Harry's olive branch is said to be an attempt at 'deconflicting' his engagements — so that the Windsor clan can select a date that works best for the king to meet with the 'Spare' author face to face, the Daily Mail reports.

What's more, the offer has reportedly also been extended to the Prince and Princess of Wales, who have not spoken to the Sussexes since their royal exit in 2020.
The Invictus Games founder's apparent eagerness to be fully transparent with his family would also ensure that no overlaps happen between both camps.
'Harry has shifted into a new way of thinking. The tone is now all about 'deconflicting' with his family,' a source told the outlet.
A recent overlap had occurred during the duke's trip to Angola, where Harry's work with the Halo Trust charity overshadowed the unveiling of Queen Camilla's 78th birthday portrait.
'That's why his household agreed to draw up a 'grid' of his activities and share them with Buckingham Palace, and by extension with Kensington Palace,' a source said.

The gesture comes just weeks after Harry sent his aides to London where they met up with the monarch's communications secretary.
'Before that meeting between their aides in London, conflicts of interest or clashes of publicity were relished and even perhaps encouraged by the Sussexes,' the insider added.

However, the source added that the olive branch doesn't change the fact that the exiled royal is still very much looking to protect his independence.
'Harry still doesn't like being controlled by the royal machinery, and that won't change,' they said, adding that the royals will now have 'full sight' of Harry's schedule. 'It's a significant gesture.'

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh skipped Princess Diana's funeral because their resemblance was ‘too upsetting': report

Too close for comfort. Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, allegedly skipped Princess Diana's funeral because the pair looked too much alike. Author Sean Smith made the surprising claim in his new biography about the 60-year-old duchess, 'Sophie: Saving the Royal Family,' which was published July 17. Advertisement ''She's well aware that she looks like Princess Diana from a distance and made her decision in a caring and thoughtful way,'' he added. ''The royal family fully supported.'' Besides sharing Diana's signature cropped blonde hair, Sophie also has blue eyes that resemble those of the late princess. 9 Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, visits the Groundswell Regenerative Agriculture Festival at Lannock Farm, Weston, on July 3, 2025, in Hitchin, England. 'I don't deny that we do look alike,' she said in the 1990s, per Daily Express. 'But I couldn't ever compete with Diana's image.' 'I'm not Diana,' Sophie added at the time. 9 Sophie Rhys-Jones attending a concert gala for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's 50th wedding anniversary. The beloved royal was later honored in a Westminster Abbey service attended by more than 2,000 people on Sept. 6, 1997. While one million people were estimated to have lined the route of Diana's funeral procession through London, another 2 billion people were estimated to have watched on TV. 9 Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, during Trooping The Colour 2025 on June 14, 2025, in London, England. The pair announced their engagement two years after Diana's death, and married at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on June 19, 1999. After embracing her new role as a full-time working royal, Sophie and Edward welcomed two children: Lady Louise Windsor, now 21, and James, the Earl of Wessex, now 17. In March 2023, Prince Edward and Sophie's royal titles changed from the Earl and Countess of Wessex to the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh following King Charles' ascension to the throne. Sophie's new title put her at a higher rank than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Sophie was said to be 'relieved' about the royal change. Tim Graham Photo Library via Getty Images 'She no longer has to curtsy to someone in the family who has not only left royal duties but has spent the past three years criticizing the institution that Sophie works so hard to support,' a royal source claimed at the time. Then, in May 2023, an 81-year-old great-grandmother was killed after she was struck by a police motorcycle escorting Sophie through West London. One month later, Sophie faced backlash from royal fans after she allegedly scolded Prince William and Princess Kate's daughter, Princess Charlotte, during the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

Christie Brinkley Says This 1 Factor Doomed Her Relationship With Billy Joel

Christie Brinkley opened up about her rocky marriage to Billy Joel in a new documentary about the iconic musician's life. The model married Joel in 1985, and the two welcomed their only child, Alexa, later that year. Brinkley said that she tried to make her relationship with Joel work, but there was one thing that got in the way. 'I don't think it's a secret that his drinking got pretty bad,' Brinkley said in Part 2 of the musician's new HBO documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes. She said that the singer 'couldn't really remember what he did when he was drinking, and so he didn't really know how he could hurt people.' During a particularly stressful period of financial turmoil and touring for Joel, Brinkley said that 'there was too much unraveling in his life.' She would call bars to find out where Joel was, and would pretend to be sleeping when he would come in some nights, so she could avoid seeing him 'in that condition.' 'Our relationship went from lots of fun and really, totally enjoying each other and everything, to his work consuming him,' the model shared. Brinkley said she didn't know what to do, but she decided she couldn't 'be lonely.' It was just her 'and Alexa in this big old house that was supposed to be so full of life and love and music and laughter and all of that,' Brinkley said as she started to tear up. The model said that 'things were starting to deteriorate' and then one fight sealed the deal. 'One night, we had an argument and I said, 'I really can't take this anymore, and I'm just gonna take Alexa back up to New York and leave,'' she recalled. 'And he said, 'Yeah, fine ― go.'' The two divorced in 1994, and Joel revealed what he took away from the end of their marriage. 'I realized love is not concrete,' the musician said. 'You know, you feel like it is, but there are things eating away at it. And, in the end, it all catches up. And it's hard. And I was so devastated.' Brinkley has spoken about Joel's drinking before in her recently published memoir, Uptown Girl. 'The drinking was bigger than the both of us. Booze was the other woman and it was beginning to seem that he preferred to be with her rather than me,' she said. The 71-year-old told Page Six in April that 'leaving Billy wasn't easy for me to do.' 'He's the father of my firstborn and we spent such great formative years together. And I'll love him forever,' Brinkley shared. 'Things just reached a point where I knew I couldn't live with him.' Ron Galella, Ltd. / Getty Images

TikTok's Cugine opens Brooklyn sandwich shop, cafe, Casa Cugine

This sandwich influencer has gone brick and mortadella. Danny Mondello, the Italian-American behind @Meals_by_cug has turned his social media brand — making chicken cutlet sandwiches and tossing pasta into the air from a frying pan for more than 2 million followers on TikTok and 1.5 million on Instagram — into Casa Cugine, a new sandwich shop, market and cafe in Williamsburg. When he's not slicing soppressata behind the line, Mondello, 28, personally greets customers from a lawn chair outside the Brooklyn storefront, his pinky finger, encircled with a gold ring, jutting out as he sips his signature Diet Coke. 'It's a dream come true,' Mondello told The Post of opening the shop earlier this month on a neighborly Graham Avenue block. 10 Danny Mondello, the Italian-American behind @Meals_by_cug with millions of followers, has turned his social media brand — making chicken cutlet sandwiches and pasta — into Casa Cugine, a new sandwich shop, market and cafe in Williamsburg. Brian Zak/NY Post 'You see families, you see the old Nonnas walking down the street. Everybody knows each other,' he said as he nodded to passersby. Fans of Cug — short for 'cugine,' which is Italian for cousin — are traveling from as far as Texas and South Carolina to get a taste of viral sandwiches like the 'Hey Toots' with turkey and spicy soppressata; and the 'How Ya' Doin,' with chicken cutlet and broccoli rabe. 'The menu is Italian-American delicacies — everything you want. Panninis, like what they do back in Italy — hot soppressata, provolone, olive oil and oregano. Real simple. We're not trying to reinvent the wheel. We just want something that's good, and not over indulgent,' Mondello said, noting the shop will eventually serve heroes. Brian Zak/NY Post 'Since I'm 18, I have always worked in delis and sandwich shops growing up. It's kind of where I got the name 'Cug' from. Some guy would come in and call everyone Cug,' he said. The Casa Cugine space was previously home to Cafe Capri, a family-owned coffee shop that opened in 1974 and shuttered in 2015. Mondello kept the original molding from its previous owner, but has also made the shop very much his own. A custom gold sign on the coffee counter reads 'Reserved for Cug & Ya sista,' while a portrait of Frank Sinatra hangs above a still life of Cug's pinky ring hand gripping a cigarette. We've both been fans of him for so long,'said Krisel, wearing a Casa del Cug T-shirt. 'We love his sister jokes. I'm also a Diet Coke fan. We were both really depressed and isolated during the pandemic and we would send each other his videos,' Ojeda said, of making the trip to get a zucchini eggplant sandwich. Another visitor from afar, South Carolina clothing designer Michael, 35, started following Cug two years ago and was taken with his Staten Island accent. 'I've been here twice,' said Michael, who declined to give his last name. He raved about the rainbow cookies. 10 Customers enjoy coffee and pastries at the counter, where a sign reads 'reserved for Cug & ya sista.' Some tourists have traveled as far as Texas and South Carolina to support the popular influncer. Brian Zak/NY Post 10 Cugine decorated the cafe with a still life of his pinky ring-clad hand, and other homages to Italian-American culture. Brian Zak/NY Post 'He's authentic, man. I'm not Italian, I'm Russian — I have no idea about how they should talk, the lingo, the slang. What really made me like his videos was when he would cook in his house, saying a bunch of Italian s—t. The chicken cutlet sandwich looked bomb.' Mondello told The Post that he wanted to diversify his staying power by having a business of his own offline. 'There's only so much social media you can do. There's no long term play for it. It's very hard,' he said. 'When I'm 50 years old, what am I supposed to be doing? Still flipping pasta?'
