Drake Taps Lauryn Hill, 21 Savage, Rema, More Surprise Guests for London's Wireless Festival
On Friday, Drake set the theme for the night. 'This is the first time in my life that I've done three different shows on three different days,' Drake told the crowd, per Billboard. 'You came to a very special night. It's night one. It's a celebration of all things R&B. All things melodies. All classics.' Beyond his own classics, surprise guest Lauryn Hill also dropped one of her own. Her performance of 'Ex-Factor' transitioned into Drake's Hill-sampling 'Nice for What.' The night also included appearances by Bryson Tiller, Givēon, and PartyNextDoor.

Drake's 'Iceman' Era Could Be a Misstep if It's Too Focused on Beef
On Saturday, Drake switched gears. 'London, tonight is different,' Drake told the crowd. 'All that sweetheart, singing shit? That shit is over tonight. This is for my motherfucking dogs. I see my dogs came out tonight.' Rappers Skepta, Latto, Sexyy Redd, and 21 Savage were among the guests. He and 21 Savage performed 'Knife Talk' and 'Rich Flex' from their collaborative 2022 album, Her Loss.
The second night also had the crowd chanting 'Fuck Kendrick.' Drake's response was to ask someone to pour him a shot, before he said, 'I'll drink to that.' The two rappers' monumental beef has continued to spark conversations even a year later, and so it's not surprising that their respective concerts (along with Drake's defamation lawsuit over Kendrick Lamar's 'Not Like Us') touch on it, even if it's crowd-sourced.
He capped off the rap-focused night with an unexpected surprise guest: He invited Vanessa Carlton out to perform her 2002 song, 'A Thousand Miles.'
Sunday's set was a brief 40 minutes due to a strict curfew, per the BBC, but Drake still had some surprises in store. He teased an unreleased collaboration with British rapper Central Cee, and Rema drew cheers, as did Vybz Kartel.
Earlier in the month, Drake dropped 'What Did I Miss?' ushering in his Iceman era.

Ellen DeGeneres moved to UK because of Trump, plans to remarry there
Ellen DeGeneres says she decided not to return to the U.S. from the U.K. because of Donald Trump and plans to remarry there if the Supreme Court rolls back same-sex marriage rights. The comedian and former talk show host — among several celebrity donors who supported Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign — confirmed that she and her wife Portia de Rossi left their home country for the U.K. during the 2024 presidential election and decided to stay when the MAGA leader won re-election for a second term. 'Yes. We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in.' And we're like, 'We're staying here,'' she told British broadcaster Richard Bacon during a conversation on Sunday. Earlier this month, DeGeneres took to Instagram to support Rosie O'Donnell after Trump threatened to revoke her citizenship. O'Donnell, who has a near-20-year-feud with the ex 'Apprentice' star, revealed in March that she had packed up and headed to Ireland just days before the Republican president began his second term on Jan. 20. DeGeneres has been keeping a relatively low profile after ending her talk show in 2022 amid allegations of a toxic workplace environment. She later headlined a final comedy tour across the U.S. Last year, the couple purchased a 'part-time house' in the Cotswolds area of south central England where they planned to spend four months out of the year. But after Trump became president again, the couple made the permanent decision. Calling her house 'absolutely beautiful,' DeGeneres, who came out as gay in 1997, said it was the first time the pair saw snow there this past winter. 'We love it here,' she added. 'Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks.' The 'Ellen' star continued: 'We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture, everything you see is charming and it's just a simpler way of life. It's clean. Everything here is just better, the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.' There may be more wedding plans underway, too, for the couple who first wed in 2008. 'The Baptist Church in America is trying to reverse gay marriage,' DeGeneres said in reference to a June call by southern Baptist delegates for a gay marriage ban. 'They're trying to literally stop it from happening in the future and possibly reverse it. Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we're going to get married here.' ----------------

Sony's gamer-friendly X90L TV is on sale for a new low price
If you're excited to smash your way through the excellent Donkey Kong Banaza on the Nintendo Switch 2, you should play it on a TV that takes full advantage of the system's ability to play games in 4K or up to 120 frames per second. Thankfully, Sony's X90L, which checks both boxes, is currently on sale at Amazon, B&H Photo, and Best Buy in its 65-inch configuration for around $898 ($301 off), an all-time low price. The X90L is a full-array LED TV, which means it has significantly better backlighting and contrast than an edge-lit set. You won't see as much blooming — aka, unnatural-looking pockets of brightness around a bright object — which can be distracting when you're watching a movie or playing a game set in a dimly lit area. The TV also runs on Sony's Cognitive Processor XR, which automatically adjusts color and contrast based on whatever it is you're watching or playing. In terms of specs, two of the TV's HDMI ports are HDMI 2.1, which means they can accept a 4K video source at up to 120Hz and are well-suited for current-gen consoles. If you connect a PS5, the TV will switch to the 'Game' picture mode, enable 'Auto HDR Tone Mapping,' and turn on ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) to minimize latency, which matters most if you play fast-paced first-person shooters or platformers. If you're a cinephile, you'll enjoy Sony Pictures Core, a streaming service exclusive to Bravia TVs that lets you download and stream 4K movies at near-4K Blu-ray quality. Its library is limited, but Sony includes five credits for movie downloads and a 12-month subscription to stream titles from the library. Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and more are all smiles in 'Ted Lasso' season 4 first look
Believe! Biscuits with the boss look a tad different in the first look at season 4 of Ted Lasso. Apple TV+ released the first look at Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Swift, Hannah Waddingham, and Juno Temple in the upcoming fourth season of the Emmy-winning series as production officially begins Monday in Kansas City, with additional filming set to take place in London. Swift (as Leslie Higgins), Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Temple (Keeley Jones), and Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) are gathered around a booth in a sun-drenched diner in the photo. Brett Goldstein, also a writer and executive producer on the dramedy, and Brendan Hunt, series co-creator, are also set to reprise their roles as Roy Kent and Coach Beard, respectively. The new season will follow Ted as he returns to Richmond to tackle his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's football team. "Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would," per the the crew are series newcomers Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely, the latter of whom will be stepping in as Ted's son, Henry. Though initially conceived as a three-season series by Sudeikis and his co-creators, the show received a surprise season 4 renewal back in March. The Apple TV+ juggernaut debuted 2020 and introduced Sudeikis' fish-out-of-water American football coach who is hired to manage a British soccer team. Goldstein memorably compared the return to the resurrection of a dead cat while speaking to NPR in April. "I have a friend that I went to university with, and I think about this a lot," Goldstein recalled. "He had a cat that died. He loved his cat. And the cat was run over, and they buried the cat. He was a child. They buried the cat in the garden, and he lay in bed so sad, so upset and crying, and he prayed and he wished, 'I wish the cat would come back.'" "And then the cat did come back, and it turned out the cat they buried wasn't their cat," he continued. "I think about that all the time. I'm like, no wonder this guy is f---ed in the head, because he thinks death isn't real, so of course he's insane. He's such a weird guy 'cause he thinks he can bring things back from the dead." Resurrecting the show felt like that cat's resurrection, he said. "I guess I'm saying I feel like that kid. Like, we buried it. We all cried, we had a funeral. Are you saying we can bring anything back?' It's too much power.' Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly Solve the daily Crossword
