Rachel Zegler celebrates ‘Snow White' being ‘#1 movie in the world' despite sleepy box office debut
Rachel Zegler took to social media on Monday, March 24, to celebrate 'Snow White' being the weekend's top box office performer – even despite a sleepy debut and lazy ticket sales.
'#1 MOVIE IN THE WORLD!' Zegler, 23, wrote alongside a photo of her dressed as the titular Disney princess while waving from a trailer on the film's set. She also included a red apple emoji and a snowflake emoji.
Even though 'Snow White' came out on top at the box office over runner-ups like 'Captain America: Brave New World' and 'Mickey 17,' the fairy tale remake is still in trouble when considering its $270 million budget.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, 'Snow White' failed to meet opening box office expectations over the weekend. While Disney reportedly hoped to clear $100 million, the live-action remake fell short and only garnered a combined domestic and international total of $87.3 million as of Sunday.
Final weekend numbers are not expected to come in until late Monday.
Meanwhile, the film – which opened at $43 million domestically – underperformed when compared to the $45 million domestic total it was projected to rake in.
Even The Post's movie critic, Johnny Oleksinski, dubbed the live-action remake of the animated 1937 Disney classic 'boring' and 'mediocre.'
'The timeless classic, a groundbreaking achievement for animation, has been turned into another pointless and awkward live-action automaton that vanishes from your mind the second it's over,' he wrote ahead of the movie's debut weekend.
The disappointing box office numbers and Zegler's optimistic Instagram post come as the film and its stars continue to be dogged by backlash and alleged behind-the-scenes drama.
Not only did 'Snow White' suffer criticism for using CGI to create the film's seven dwarfs, but Zegler and her Evil Queen co-star Gal Gadot, 39 created controversy after voicing opposing views about the Israeli-Hamas conflict still unfolding in Gaza.
That drama reportedly created tensions between the stars themselves, and Zegler later left Gadot out of a tribute she posted for the movie.
'[Zegler] has nothing in common with Gal Gadot, a mom of four kids,' an insider told People earlier this month regarding the two 'Snow White' co-stars.
'On top of that, their political views differ, adding to the tension,' the source added.
Zegler also previously came under fire for calling the original 'Snow White' movie 'dated' and 'weird.'
'The original cartoon came out in 1937 and very evidently so,' she said shortly after landing the main role in the remake.
'There's a big focus on her love story with the guy who literally stalks her. Weird, weird,' the 'West Side Story' star added. 'So we didn't do that this time.'
Zegler later backtracked and called the role an 'honor of a lifetime.' She also dubbed herself a 'huge Disney fan.'
'It was the honor of a lifetime. I think every young person dreams about a phone call like that,' the actress told 'Good Morning America' on March 20. 'This one is certainly extra special as a huge Disney fan.'

Zendaya and Tom Holland Overcame Several Ups and Downs: He's Not ‘Immune to Making Mistakes': Source
Tom Holland and Zendaya may appear to be the 'perfect' Hollywood couple with 'millions of fans cheering them on as they plan their wedding,' but a source exclusively tells Star that they still have their ups and downs. 'Just because Tom wants to spend the rest of his life with Zendaya doesn't mean he's immune to making mistakes,' the source shares. According to the source, the English actor, 29, has 'grown up' a lot during his 'sobriety journey,' but sometimes 'acts childish when he doesn't get his way.' The Marvel star quit drinking in 2022 and has been open with the public about being sober, even launching a line of non-alcoholic beers called BERO. The source claims that Holland can be 'self-absorbed' at times — a trait that 'Zendaya has never been a fan of.' His 'ego and maturity issues' also caused tension early on in their romance. 'Zendaya is patient,' the source notes, 'but she also knows Tom's weaknesses better than anybody.' An insider previously told Star in May that the couple, whose engagement was confirmed earlier this year, were pushing back their wedding plans due to their hectic work schedules. 'They tried to fit it in this year, but they looked at their schedules and there's no way,' the insider shared. 'They're so career-minded, they aren't sure they can swing 2026 either.' While the duo does collaborate on movies together, they also have a host of solo projects. 'It sucks to be apart, but being in huge demand is a good problem to have,' the insider added. The Uncharted actor and the Euphoria star, 28, met in 2016 on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming as Holland famously played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the film, and Zendaya took on the iconic role of MJ. In November 2024, the former Disney star spoke to Vanity Fair about what it's like to act alongside her man. 'It's actually strangely comfortable,' she admitted. 'It's like second nature, if anything. You feel extra safe with the person you're acting beside. I love working with him.' 'He's so talented, and so passionate about what he does. He always gives things one thousand percent, even if he's absolutely worn down,' she further gushed. 'I really appreciate that about him. It feels pretty normal. That's how we met. Literally, at a chemistry read.' Solve the daily Crossword

You Could Play "I Spy" with J. Lo's Glittery 3D Nails
Getty Images As the parent of a four-year-old, I play a lot of 'I Spy"—in the car, at restaurants, poring over the iconic I Spy book series. You know what would fit right in in the pages of those books? Jennifer Lopez's latest manicure! Lopez's concert nails, designed by her go-to manicurist Tom Bachik, are a visual feast with so many blink-and-you'll-miss-them references, they needed their own Instagram grid post. If you were watching her from the arena floor, you probably wouldn't get to see all the details, which is why we're so thankful Bachik posted a close-up at his work so we could pore over every intricately designed nail. The long, coffin-shaped nails were a mix of burgundy, milky pale pink, and gold tones, embellished with sparkling charms, gemstones, and pearls for a royal vibe. Lopez is currently traveling through Europe on her 'Up All Night' tour, which kicked off in Spain. However, the singer-actor-dancer brought a little bit of home to the stage with one of her nails, which featured the New York Yankees logo in gold and rhinestones; more gemstones danged from the 'Y," ending in a large garnet stone. There were bows, crosses, sacred hearts, and even what appears to be the Chanel interlocking 'C' logo, framed by dangling small pearls. See what I mean about 'I Spy?' I spy, with my little eye… Though Lopez typically wears a much more neutral manicure for her day-to-day life and red carpet events, she likes to go all out with her performance nail art. For a trip to Dubai, she and Bachik whipped up a Swarovski crystal butterfly manicure that we're still thinking about. When she performed at an Elie Saab show in late 2024, her nails were encrusted with even more Swarovski crystals for the definition of superstar sparkle. Lopez has a full touring schedule through mid-August; the 'Up All Night' tour takes her through Italy, Hungary, Egypt, Turkey, and more. We've got a feeling Bachik is already busy whipping up many more ornate manicures for us to ogle. Can't wait! Lindsay Lohan's Pastel Cat-Eye Nails are Fit for a Disney Princess
All products featured on Allure are independently selected by Allure editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, Condé Nast may earn an affiliate commission. Getty Images Lindsay Lohan looked so pretty in pink at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, Freakier Friday, wearing the pastel shade from head to toe—including on her nails, with a very trendy but soft and subtle cats-eye manicure that would look great on Queen Elsa or Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. Lohan, who is revisiting her Freaky Friday character Anna in the 2025 sequel to the 2003 film, looked like a Disney princess on the red carpet in a delicate rose gown, perfect and precise long, Old Hollywood-style waves, and rose-tinted blush and eye shadow. At first, we thought she was wearing a simple baby pink nail color, but upon further examination, there was much more to it. For the premiere, Lohan and nail artist Eri Ishizu chose a frosty pink cats-eye design, with the shimmery texture of the polish catching the camera flashbulbs and lights as Lohan walked the carpet. If Frozen's Elsa was into pink instead of icy blue, she'd definitely wear this on her nails, but then again, Lohan is something of a Disney princess herself too! Ishizu used Après Nail products for Lohan's premiere manicure, prepping with the brand's Base Gelcoat X, then applying one coat of Astral Gel Couleur in The Lovers, a sweet cotton candy pink. To create the shimmery, shape-shifting cats-eye effect, Ishizu reached for a magnet stick and shaped the magnetic polish sparkles over Lohan's entire nail. She then cured the polish and applied a non-wipe gel top coat. Celebs have embraced the cats-eye nail in a big way this year; it's nail art, but subtle and versatile enough that you can wear it anywhere—including the red carpet à la Lohan or courtside at a basketball game, like Cardi B did with her ocean-blue set. Jennifer Lopez gave magnetic manis the J. Lo treatment with glowing, 'iced chai' nails. You can DIY it with a magnetic polish set like this one from Olive + June or ask your nail artist to whip up a custom creation. Dreamy!
