A man in his 60s was killed in a road traffic accident in Kilkenny City on Tuesday morning.
The deceased is understood to have been a member of staff on the roadworks currently underway on the R695 at the Kennyswell road in the city when the incident occurred, shortly before 11am.

Gardaí and emergency services are attending the site, and the road remains closed at present. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, gardaí said that both they and emergency services 'are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred in the Kennyswell Road area of Kilkenny.
'The scene remains preserved for technical examination. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) was notified and is investigating the matter."
