Police intensify outreach initiatives in remote tribal habitations, distribute mosquito nets to Gutti Koya Adivasis
The outreach initiative was part of the district police's 'Community Connect' programme aimed at reaching out to people living in far-flung tribal habitations with a focus on the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas.
The police personnel led by Superintendent of Police B. Rohit Raju visited the Gutti Koya habitation as part of scaled-up outreach initiatives in the tribal-dominated district, bordering Chhattisarh's Bastar region, the hotbed of Maoist activity.
Speaking to the tribal people on the occasion, the SP asked them to make effective use of the mosquito nets and take precautions in the current monsoon season to keep vector-borne diseases at bay. He also urged them to alert police if they notice any suspicious movements in the area or if they spot strangers.
Additional SP (Operations) G. Narender, Kothagudem DSP Abdul Rahman and others were present.

RAIPUR: A Maoist was killed in an encounter between Maoists and security forces in the dense forested terrain of the Indravati National Park area in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said on Saturday. Security operations in the Bastar division have intensified in recent months, with forces targeting senior Maoist leadership believed to be operating in the region. The IG remarked that security forces are fully committed to sustaining anti-Maoist operations even during the monsoon season and emphasised that the CPI (Maoist), which has been declared unlawful,now has no option but to surrender and give up violence. 'Over the past 18 months, a total of 415 Maoist cadres have been killed in various encounters across the Bastar range. This number includes top CPI (Maoist) leaders such as general secretary Basavaraju alias Ganganna and central committee member Gautam alias Sudhakar, marking a significant setback for the insurgent group,' the IG said.

This encounter comes just weeks after a major offensive in the same region in early June, where seven Maoists were killed in a series of coordinated strikes by security forces. The Indravati National Park, with its rugged terrain and dense forest cover, has long served as a strategic hideout for Maoist factions operating across the Bastar division. One Maoist killed in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur
One Maoist has been killed by the security forces in an ongoing anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, said the police on Saturday (July 5, 2025). A senior police officer said that the gunfight between the Maoists and a security team has been going on in the National Park area of Bijapur since Friday (July 4) evening during which the casualty was inflicted. Earlier, said the officer, based on the intelligence received about the presence of a large cadre of Maoists in the National Park area of the Bijapur district, a search operation was started by joint teams of security forces. 'During the operation, intermittent encounters are going on between security forces and Maoists since yesterday, 04/07/2025. In the search operation so far, the body of one male Maoist has been recovered from the encounter site along with weapons,' he said. A police statement added that since the operation was still going on, more information was 'not being shared keeping in mind the safety of the soldiers involved in the operation'. In his recent visit to Chhattisgarh late June, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said that in a departure from, the past anti-Maoist operations would continue in the Bastar forests in monsoon this year. Traditionally, the operations are halted during the rains because sustained rainfall and floods hamper any action inside dense forests.
