When dachshund Monty lost the use of his legs aged six, he didn't let it slow him down.
Now seven, Monty has gained viral attention for the way he rides in a dog-sized stroller alongside his brother Charlie.
While Charlie runs ahead, Monty springs upright on his front legs, enthusiastically bouncing as if he's racing too.
Owner Amy, 42, from Canada, told Newsweek that Monty's signature hop is nothing new. "He's always danced on his front feet—even when you bring him a water dish," she said. "Now when we go for walks in the stroller, he gets even more animated. If his brother or sister runs ahead, it amps him up."

Monty was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) last year, a condition that commonly affects dachshunds because of their elongated spines.
After undergoing treatment that included medication, acupuncture, and ten weeks of crate rest, Monty didn't regain mobility. But his personality has never changed.

"It was devastating," Amy said, reflecting on his sudden paralysis. "He was a healthy, happy boy. But how he's handled these circumstances has made it so much easier—as his mom, I just had to share his joy."
IVDD is a degenerative condition that damages the discs cushioning the vertebrae and can lead to stiffness, weakness, or full paralysis.
Dachshunds are particularly at-risk of IVDD, but so are other breeds like French bulldogs, beagles, cocker spaniels and Welsh corgis to name a few.
Veterinarians urge owners to take proactive measures to prevent IVDD, including helping dogs maintain a healthy weight, avoid jumping on furniture or stairs and using proper support when lifting dogs.
After Monty's diagnosis, Amy came up with the perfect solution to ensure he never misses out, with his trusty stroller helping him and his brother enjoy outings together. In a video caption sharing one of the pair's adventures, which amassed more than 900,000 views since being shared earlier this week, Amy said: "Despite being paralyzed, Monty is confident he is going to beat Charlie to the finish line. It's all in your mindset."
"He hasn't lost his spirit. If anything," she said, "he's bouncing more than ever."
Monty isn't the first dog with IVDD to captures the internet's heart. In 2024, another dog owner shared how their Labrador Bo suffered IVDD after a fall.
While specialists were able to help him to walk again, he still sometimes needs reminding that he can move. In a heartwarming video, the owner shared how she sometimes had to remind her pup he can walk.

Woman 'Baffled' by Non-Existent $8 Food Delivery—Doorbell Cam Reveals Truth

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A woman woke one morning to discover she had spent $8 the night before getting food delivered to her home. There were just two problems though: she had no memory of ordering the food and there was no trace of it anywhere in her home, save for a picture on her phone sent as part of an email confirmation. It was only when she discovered a sachet of sauce and checked the footage on her Ring doorbell camera, that the truth revealed itself. When Miranda Knowles, from Nanaimo in British Columbia, Canada, finally realized what had happened, she wasn't entirely surprised. Knowles has been a sleepwalker her entire life. "It started as a young child and still happens, up to 10 times a month," she told Newsweek. "I have cleaned, put Christmas decorations away, crafted items, prepared food, bathed, and done laundry. Nothing too crazy but I can get a lot done while asleep." In 2012, research published by the Stanford University School of Medicine found that somewhere in the region of 8.4 million U.S. adults were prone to sleepwalking. The study also identified an association between sleepwalking and psychiatric disorders like depression and anxiety. "I find that I sleepwalk more if I have a lot of caffeine in the day or if I'm stressed," Knowles said. Recently, Knowles' sleepwalking has taken on a different form though. "Lately I've been Door Dashing random items," she said. "Just regular things, onion rings, just a single bottle of Coke although I don't drink Coke. I either see the email notification when I wake up or I go to leave for work and there's a bag of cold food at my door." That's what led to the recent incident. Knowles woke to find the usual email notification but no bag of cold food at her door. "I was so confused because I didn't see any bag in the picture so I ran down the stairs and was baffled to see the little sauce," she said. That was when she noticed the sachet of honey mustard. By reviewing footage from her Ring doorbell cam of the delivery being made and going through her DoorDash order history, Knowles was able to piece together what had happened. She had paid a man $8 to deliver a single sachet of sauce to her house. "I thought it was funny so I showed it to my husband and he wasn't surprised at yet another silly sleepwalking thing I did," Knowles said. "I do like A&W honey mustard but I'm not sure why I would order it alone!" Eager to share the amusing experience further, Knowles posted the doorbell camera footage of the delivery to her house on her TikTok onewithwater. It's been watched 4.5 million times already. Though it might seem like an extreme incident, Knowles doesn't think of it as her worst sleepwalking crime. "It's up there, but I've also emptied the entire fridge, I've had a bath, I've wandered outside in the middle of the night," she said. Though her family's reaction has always been a mix of amusement and concern, Knowles has "learned to live with it." "I try to keep my life stress free but that isn't possible for everyone," she said. "I was a registered nurse in emergency for the last two and a half years so I was always stressed. Recently I changed to another job and it's not as much stress, so less sleepwalking."

Once you see all the grossness that's been "living" in your ears without your knowledge, you'll definitely make these must-have cleaners a repeat purchase! 🤢

Man Goes to Sleep, Wakes Up With a 'Half Paralyzed Face'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A video of a man trying to smile and pull faces but with only one side of his face responding has gone viral on TikTok, gathering more than 5.3 million views. Initially, Nathan Fisher, 27, noticed his smile was "slightly off." He told Newsweek: "I thought I was having a stroke." But, since he was able to lift his arms with ease, he put it down to tiredness. However, the next day, the left side of his face was completely paralyzed. Fisher posted a video online captioned: "POV [point of view] — You woke up with a half paralyzed face." The footage shows his left eye rolling back when the right one closes. From left: Fisher smiles before and after he was affected by Bell's palsy. From left: Fisher smiles before and after he was affected by Bell's palsy. TikTok/@nfisher08 "I could not close my eye properly so I called the emergency helpline," said the police officer from Essex, England. After CT and MRI scans, medics believed it was a transient ischemic attack (TIA), sometimes called a "ministroke." It is different from major types of stroke. Blood flow to the brain is blocked for only a short time—usually no more than five minutes. But, a few weeks later in May, he was diagnosed with Bell's palsy. The American Brain Foundation says approximately 40,000 people in the United States are affected by Bell's palsy each year. The most commonly affected age group is 15 to 45 years old. Dr. Nicholas Dragolea, a London-based physician, told Newsweek: "There is no definite cause or triggers can be identified in the typical cases. There is a suggestion that previous infections with the herpes simplex or herpes zoster virus may be involved, but this has not been definitely proven." From left: Fisher's brain is seen on the doctor's screen; and a selfie of him in the hospital. From left: Fisher's brain is seen on the doctor's screen; and a selfie of him in the hospital. TikTok/@nfisher08 Dragolea, who works at My Longevity Centre in London, said: "Differentiating between a stroke and Bell's palsy can be tricky and should only be done in a clinical setting by a trained health-care professional, as misdiagnosing a stroke can be fatal. "The basic discriminator that we use in clinical practice is the forehead," said Dragolea. "If the muscle weakness doesn't affect the forehead and patients are still able to raise the eyebrow for example, then it is more likely to be a stroke or another cause of facial paralysis. A full neurological examination, as well as a thorough anamnesis [patient's account of their medical history], remain important for an accurate diagnosis." Fisher took seven weeks off work and attended physiotherapy for one week, followed by massaging his face at home. "I had one proper massage after the third week, which really helped, and that's when I started to see improvements," Fisher said. "I also concentrated on mirror feedback exercises and massages to release any tension. "I had to relearn how to use the muscles in my face once the nerve recovered," Fisher added. Alongside this, he took B12 supplements to encourage nerve recovery. But this dramatic change in his appearance took its toll on his mental health. "I felt insecure," Fisher said. "It affected me mentally as my favorite thing about myself is my smile and then it was gone! "Luckily, it was temporary, but it did affect me as I felt so awkward in social settings. "I couldn't eat or drink properly—I would dribble and struggle to get my mouth around a sandwich," he added. "My eye leaked, and I couldn't close it for two weeks, so sleeping was a struggle," Fisher said. "My face is now back working! I still have some slight weakness, but I am relearning how to use all the muscles in my face."
