📸 Chelsea unveil 1970s throwback third kit
The change strip is inspired by the red and green vertical striped attire worn away from Stamford Bridge in the 1974/75 season but has roots even further back.

Erstwhile manager Dave Sexton introduced red to the Blues' kit scheme two years earlier as a homage to the outfit worn by the Hungarian national team in the 1950s.
Led by Ferenc Puskás, the 'Magnificent Magyars' rose to prominence after memorably running out 5-3 winners over England at Wembley during that period.
Enzo Maresca's side will don the new change kit in their opening Club World Cup encounter with Flamengo on 20 June and against ES Tunis five days later.

Chelsea closing in on Jorrel Hato deal
Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Jorrel Hato from Ajax. An agreement between the clubs has yet to be reached but is nearing, with a compromise expected in the coming days on a price worth more than €40million (£34.8m; $46.7m). Personal terms are already in place for the 19-year-old Netherlands international defender. Chelsea opened discussions with Ajax over a move for Hato earlier this month. Arsenal had previously identified Hato as a defensive target in January 2024, before he signed a new five-year contract with Ajax last summer. Hato, who has made 111 first-team appearances for Ajax and has captained the side, is predominantly a left-sided centre-back who has also featured at left-back. Capped six times at senior international level by the Netherlands, he joined Ajax's academy in 2018 from Sparta Rotterdam and has been a fixture in the first team since making his debut in January 2023. Advertisement Chelsea have already signed Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens this summer, alongside the arrivals of players on pre-existing agreements including Estevao, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez. Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke and Djordje Petrovic are among the players to have left Stamford Bridge permanently this month. Analysis by Andy Jones and Mark Carey Hato is one of the hottest defensive prospects in Europe, having played regularly for Ajax for the last two seasons. Graduating from the Ajax academy, he is technically gifted and confident in possession. He is used to being in a ball-dominant side and he is not afraid to be adventurous with the ball at his feet both through dribbling or using his passing range. For context, only PSV Eindhoven's Richy Ledezma posted a better pass completion rate than Hato's 89 per cent among Eredivisie full-backs last season. At such a young age, he is still growing into his body and that will only benefit him defensively, an area he is good in but has room to improve — he is a solid one-on-one defender, reads the game well but does not dominate aerially.

Why Chelsea refuse to sell their 5th choice defender after club decision
Chelsea's ruthless transfer strategy has gone to another gear this summer, with the Blues now past the stage of selling off the players from the previous regime and into the stage of selling players bought within the last two years if the chance for profit is there. Noni Madueke and Djordje Petrovic are gone, Renato Veiga and Joao Felix are likely to be next as the summer of sales rolls on. High player turnover every summer the new reality for Chelsea Tosin and Cole Palmer celebrate Club World Cup win. (Photo by) It's an upsetting of the usual order of things in football – you wouldn't have seen a first team regular like Madueke sold to a league rival in the days of Jose Mourinho. But that's how it is now. Anyone is for sale at the right price. But that doesn't mean there won't be decisions taken for the sake of the group as a whole. Chelsea consider defender 'untouchable' for off the field reasons Curiously, given we're happy to sell first choice players, there's a fifth choice player who is apparently considered 'untouchable.' An exclusive from the Sun over the weekend claimed that Tosin Adarabioyo was not for sale, despite interest from Crystal Palace and West Ham. Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill form Enzo Maresca's favoured partnership and Trevoh Chalobah seems to be established as third choice now. With the impending arrival of Jorrel Hato, Tosin could soon find himself 5th choice centre-back – but he won't be going anywhere. That's because of his dressing room benefits – as one of the senior player who is seen to knit things together behind the scenes despite the endless personnel turnover, plus his close relationship with the team's star player Cole Palmer. That's the best kind of job security of all.

After João Félix's deal, Al Nassr bid for Man United's Antony
As per recent reports from Santi Aouna, Al Nassr has made a bid for Manchester United's Antony. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on July 28, 2025, 09:21 IST As per recent reports from Santi Aouna, Al Nassr has made a bid for Manchester United's Antony. They have recently completed the deal to sign João Félix from Chelsea and now they are eyeing a move for the United's winger. The winger went to Real Betis on a 6-month loan and showed his immense potential there. Al Nassr, thus, made a bid for him. However, the amount of the bid is still not mentioned or cleared and the reports also not backed by some credible sources. Saudi Pro League heavyweight Al‑Nassr have officially submitted an offer for Manchester United winger Antony. While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, United are believed to be holding out for around €60 million to sanction the move. Al‑Nassr's interest comes hot on the heels of their recent signing of João Félix from Chelsea, reportedly sealing a two‑year contract with an initial €30 million fee plus add‑ons—and strong sell-on clauses. Now attention appears to have turned to reinforcing their attacking line further by targeting Antony. The 25‑year‑old Brazilian winger spent the back half of the 2024–25 season on loan at Real Betis, where he impressed enough to attract interest from both his former Spanish club and Saudi suitors. United still hold him under contract until 2027, but he has been transfer-listed and reportedly excluded from pre-season plans, signalling a clear intent to sell. His representation has indicated that Antony is open to a move to Saudi Arabia, stating 'he is on the market… open to moving to Saudi Arabia. Anything is possible.
