The threat, made on Saturday via voice communication routed through a Virtual Private Network (VPN)-based radio system, prompted an emergency landing in North Sumatra.

The affected flight, Saudia flight SVA 5688, operating the Jeddah-Muscat-Surabaya route, was carrying 376 Hajj pilgrims from East Java and 11 crew members.
The aircraft landed safely at Kualanamu International Airport in North Sumatra at 9.30 am. All passengers and crew were evacuated and underwent security checks, police and military officials said.
Police counter-terrorism unit Densus 88 spokesperson Adjunct Senior Commissioner Mayndra Eka Wardhana said the message was transmitted while the aircraft was flying over Indian airspace.
'The threat was sent via voice communication using a VPN-based radio system that allows ground-to-ground and cross-border communication,' he told local broadcaster MetroTV.
A joint inspection involving the military, police, and other agencies found no explosives or suspicious items on board, according to the Armed Forces Information Centre (Puspen TNI).
'By 7.15 pm, the screening process was completed with no threats detected,' said the centre's head, Major General Kristomei Sianturi, in a statement. The flight resumed at 3 am local time on Sunday after the aircraft was declared safe.

Scout Movement A Platform For Regional Diplomacy, Leadership Development
KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- The scout movement offers more than just badges and campfires, it is a quiet but powerful engine of diplomacy and leadership across the region, according to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr Johari Abdul. He said that through scouting, young people are not only exposed to leadership skills but also to the cultural diversity, which helps shape a more cooperative and compassionate generation of future leaders. Far from being merely about knots and survival, he said scouting brings together young people from across the region to learn about each other's cultures and, in doing so, foster mutual respect and the ability to coexist. 'If our future leaders cannot understand their neighbours or recognise that no nation lives in isolation, then we are failing them. We must stand together to create a better, more connected world,' he told reporters here today. Johari was speaking after officiating the closing ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) Social Impact and Advocacy Workshop 2025, which was also attended by National Chief Scout Maj Gen (Rtd) Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin. A member of the National Scouts Council, Johari believes youth leadership must begin early in schools, through what he described as 'scouting diplomacy', a concept that should extend into community life and beyond. 'Regional cooperation through scouting is not a ceremonial exercise. It should be seen as a long-term investment in building global leadership that is inclusive, empathetic and prepared,' he said. The four-day programme, which began Thursday, was co-organised by the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (Asia-Pacific Region) and the Malaysian Scouts Association. More than 50 participants from 15 national scout organisations across the Asia-Pacific region took part in the workshop, which focused on strengthening leadership, expanding social awareness and designing inclusive, sustainable solutions.

KUANTAN, June 29 (Bernama) -- A total of 300 asnaf (eligible zakat recipients) in Beserah received food baskets worth RM60,000 in conjunction with the Indera Mahkota Al-Falah MADANI Carnival 2025 today. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said his department also contributed RM100,000 in Musa'adah assistance to 17 religious institutions in Pahang, in addition to 10,000 school bags and supplies for students statewide. He said the carnival, organised by the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) through the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim), successfully met its objectives by fostering harmony and strengthening community ties. 'This carnival offers a platform to get to know each other more closely, especially among the people of Indera Mahkota and Beserah. 'Its objectives are evident, from the sharing of knowledge to supporting the asnaf group and initiatives that benefit the wider community,' he said during the Al-Falah MADANI Musa'adah Contribution Presentation Ceremony at Masjid Jamek Beserah here. Mohd Na'im added that the carnival, held in collaboration with various government agencies, reflected the spirit of the Prophet Muhammad's hijrah from Makkah to Madinah, which centred on strengthening ukhuwah (brotherhood) within society. -- BERNAMA
