Ozzy Osbourne has reunited with Black Sabbath and performed his final gig - telling fans "you've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart", in an emotional but truly metal goodbye. Announced earlier this year, Back To The Beginning at Villa Park stadium was billed as the "final bow" for the man revered as a founder of heavy metal after several years of health problems, including Parkinson's disease. Rising up on a black throne featuring jewelled skulls, the 76-year-old performed a solo set before being joined by his original bandmates - Terence "Geezer" Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward - for Black Sabbath's first performance in 20 years. "Let the madness begin," Osbourne cried as he appeared for the first time, telling about 40,000 fans: "It's so good to be on this stage." With the crowd chanting his name, he performed both sets sitting down, but the voice and the crazed glint in his eyes were there almost throughout. Singing fan favourites including Mr Crowley and Crazy Train, and Iron Man and Paranoid with Black Sabbath, Osbourne conducted the crowd to sing "louder, louder", and "go f****** crazy". This was an orchestrated exit by heavy metal's biggest character, with a supporting line-up of hard rock luminaries - from Slayer and Halestorm to Metallica and Guns 'n' Roses, plus stars including Steven Tyler, Ronnie Wood, Yungblud, Travis Barker and Chad Smith, who showed up for "supergroup" performances. Many said they would not be the musicians they are without Osbourne and Black Sabbath. "You know, there's not another guy as respected in metal as Ozzy Osbourne," former Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar told Sky News just ahead of his performance. "And for him to be sick and to be saying, I'm out, I'm done. Man. There's no one else that can replace that." "Without Sabbath, there would be no Metallica," said frontman James Hetfield during their performance. "We're not here to say goodbye," said Anthrax's Scott Ian. "We're just here to say thank you." Throughout the day, giant Ozzy and Black Sabbath beach balls, in the Aston Villa claret and blue, were bounced around a jubilant crowd. Tributes from other celebrity friends and fans, from Billy Idol and Ricky Gervais to Dolly Parton and Sir Elton John, were played on screen. Hollywood actor Jason Momoa, who hosted the event, told the crowd heavy metal had been a "safehaven" for many growing up, and Black Sabbath's music had "influenced and inspired musicians" of all eras and genres. The farewell show was the idea of Osbourne's wife, Sharon - one final gig to finish his performing career on a high - after he was forced to cancel shows he had planned in 2023, telling fans he "never imagined" his touring days would end that way. Sharon Osbourne told Sky News earlier this year that his one regret was not being able to say a thank you to his fans, and so the idea for the reunion gig was born. Profits from the show will be shared between Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and Acorn's Children's Hospice. The gig came after the Black Sabbath band members were awarded the freedom of Birmingham earlier in June, recognised for their significance to the cultural and musical identity of the city they grew up in. The group formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most successful metal bands of all time, selling more than 75 million albums worldwide over the years. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 - Osbourne again later as a solo artist last year - and awarded a lifetime Ivor Novello songwriting award in 2015. In 2019, they were presented with a Grammy lifetime achievement prize. Now, their first performance in 20 years will also be their last - one for the metal history books. The show ended with fireworks and a roar from the crowd, who had chanted Ozzy's name throughout. For fans, Back To The Beginning capped it all - the ultimate rock and metal line-up, and one last opportunity to show their love for the Prince of Darkness. "I feel lucky to be able to attend this," said Calum Kennedy, 19, from Dunfermline. "It's the biggest metal show known to man, [the biggest line-up] ever. I've never seen anything better." Ben Sutton, 24, from Chester, added: "I feel like it's important - we're of the younger generation - for us to see some of the heritage and history of the genre we love, metal in general. It's such an honour to say goodbye to him." Steve Townson, from Lincolnshire, said: "I saw him the first time round and the fact that he's still going is incredible, isn't it? I was there at the start, I'm happy to be here at the end."

Vicky Pattison 'set to join Strictly Come Dancing line-up after wowing bosses'
Vicky Pattison has reportedly been offered a spot on this year's Strictly Come Dancing. The reality TV star, 37, is said to have caught the attention of producers when she cheered on pal Pete Wicks from the audience during last year's series - and now bosses are keen to bring her centre stage. A source told The Sun: 'Vicky loved watching Pete on the series and was in awe of the detail that goes into every performance. 'She has great energy and will no doubt be a hit with the viewers. 'Vicky's done plenty of reality shows but is ready to be out of her comfort zone on the dance floor.' MailOnline has contacted representatives for Strictly Come Dancing and Vicky for comment. The Geordie lass rose to fame in 2011 on MTV's Geordie Shore, becoming known for her wild nights out and on-screen flings. But Vicky turned things around and went on to be crowned I'm A Celebrity's Queen of the Jungle in 2015, a moment she's since called the 'best thing' she's ever done. Last year, the Newcastle-born star revealed that wouldn't say no to Strictly, but admitted dancing wasn't her strong suit. She told the publication: 'When I found out Pete was doing it, I called him straight away to check he was alright. 'Because me and him are more 'stand in the corner, drink and have a laugh' than the 'centre of the dance floor' people.' She added that as she's got older, she knows she should be pushing herself out of her comfort zone. The rumour comes after Strictly bosses announced the professional lineup for this year's show and revealed there will be two brand new dancers joining. Dianne Buswell, who lifted the glitter ball in December with Chris McCausland, will be joining Nadiya Bychkova, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk and Jowita Przystal in returning to the dance floor this September. They will be joined by Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Nancy Xu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola who will all take to the floor once more alongside two new stars, who will be announced closer to the time. Amy Dowden, who pulled out in the opening weeks of last year's show due to a foot injury, will also be back on Strictly for 2025, as will Carlos Gu and Kai Widdrington, who didn't have a celebrity partner last year. Despite rumours that he might be making a return after missing out on last year's series, Giovanni Pernice will not be heading back to the ballroom this time around. Sarah James, Executive Producer, BBC Studios said : 'The excitement is already building ahead of the new series and in addition to welcoming back our fantastic returning Pros, we are looking forward to welcoming two brand new Professional Dancers to the line up who will help bring another unforgettable series of dazzling dance and loads more besides to viewers later in 2025.' As well as the pros taking part in the competition itself, all of them will be taking to the floor each week in group routines. MailOnline previously revealed that Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen will return to the BBC show this year. It was rumoured that the programme's longest-serving dancer was axed by bosses, sparking an 'ageism' row among the cast but it has been confirmed that the star, 42, will be back as normal when the series returns in September. Karen, who joined the lineup in 2012, is yet to win the glitter ball trophy but has reached several finals including with celebrity partners Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing and former TOWIE star Mark Wright. Last year, Karen was partnered with former footballer Paul Merson, 57, but the pair were eliminated in week five and the previous season the dancer performed with DJ Eddie Kadi. A TV source told MailOnline: 'Karen is a well loved and respected member of the Strictly cast and there's no way she would be axed, especially not because of her age. 'She has dedicated years to the programme and can't wait to get back in the training room with a new partner in the next coming months.' Following speculation surrounding whether she would axed from the long running series due to being in her 40s, Karen spoke about not being 'threatened' by younger competitors. Indeed, she said performing alongside new joiners makes her feel empowered and she is 'inspired' by the younger generation.

EXCLUSIVE Choirmaster at King Charles' church off sick with work-related stress after unholy row with rector
The choirmaster at the church where King Charles worships at Sandringham has gone on sick leave with work-related stress after a bust-up with the rector. The issue apparently blew up after the Rev Canon Paul Williams tried to bring in steps to modernise the choir and music at St Mary Magdalene Church on the Royal Estate in north Norfolk. He is said to have commissioned a report into music at the 18th-century church by Tansy Castledine who is described by BBC Radio 3 as 'one of the UK's leading women conductors'. Her report and apparent recommendations have angered Dr Claire Stewart, the director of music at St Mary Magdalene Church, as well as choristers and worshippers. Dr Stewart is reported to have written a 28-page 'grievance' dossier responding to the report and is now off sick. The King has been informed of the row, which has been likened to a Vicar of Dibley storyline, and is said to have taken time to speak to distressed parishioners about it before he left a recent service at the church. It is believed that Rev Williams wanted to make the choir more 'inclusive' with younger singers, and even a social media account to promote its activities at the six medieval churches in the Sandringham group of churches. A source said: 'As you can imagine, with its links to the Royal family, St Mary Magdalene is quite traditional and high church. 'The rector wanted to make the church a bit more inclusive for everyone'. Dr Stewart who has been in her post for 12 years and is 'hugely adored' by many worshippers told the Mail on Sunday that she had been left feeling 'very anxious and stressed'. She said: 'I am unable to comment at the moment as I am on sick leave with work-related stress.' Dr Stewart described the report by Ms Castledine, the Director of Music at Peterborough Cathedral, Cambridgeshire, as 'controversial'. She added: 'She was commissioned by the rector to do this, and as a result of it being published, it has greatly upset the choir, the congregation and myself.' The bust-up is said to have led to a number of members of the 'tight-knit' choir staying away from Sunday services and practice sessions. The Bishop of Norwich, the Right Rev Graham Usher, has received a number of letters from parishioners who have been distressed about the row. Tory peer Lord Greville Howard of nearby Castle Rising which has its church included in the Sandringham group of parishes is believed to have held a meeting earlier this month with church leaders to try and reach a peace deal. Members of the Royal family traditionally attend St Mary Magdalene Church for morning service on Christmas Day when they are watched by thousands of members of the public. The late Queen and her husband Prince Philip attended the church when in residence at Sandringham, and the King who is battling cancer has followed in the footsteps of his parents as a regular worshipper. During his reign, he and Queen Camilla have often been photographed walking to the church from Sandringham House or sometimes being driven there by car. The Rev Williams became Sandringham rector in September 2022 shortly after the death of the late Queen, and was later appointed Domestic Chaplain to the King. He was previously vicar of Tewkesbury Abbey in the Diocese of Gloucester. The rector did not respond to a request for comment, while Edward Parsons, a churchwarden at Sandringham, also declined to comment. A spokesperson for the Diocese of Norwich said: 'St Mary Magdalene, the parish church of Sandringham is one of six churches that form the Sandringham Group of Churches in North West Norfolk. 'We are aware that a discussion around music has taken place within the group of churches. It has taken in the views of parishioners and members of the congregation and the discussions continue.' The Diocese spokesperson was unable to comment on the contents of the report produced by Ms Castledine.
