Amalgam of Muslim bodies in J&K calls for boycott of Shia leader Imran Ansari over his 'provocative statements'
'MMU wishes to place on record its deep anguish and strong condemnation of continued and deliberate provocations by Imran Ansari. Previously, the MMU had refrained from naming the individual hoping that he would correct his malicious intent. However, instead of rectifying, Ansari has now publicly resorted to openly abusing and disrespecting the revered companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
'This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable and a direct attack on the foundations of Islamic unity, ethics, and mutual respect and will not be tolerated,' said a spokesman of MMU.
The MMU said Ansari's remarks are not a matter of 'difference of opinion, but a deliberate and malicious attempt to incite sectarian strife in Kashmir - an act that threatens the harmony and unity that generations of scholars and spiritual leaders have preserved through mutual respect, restraint and dialogue.'
The spokesman said MMU notes that Shia scholars too are deeply disturbed by the provocative statement of Ansari and have unequivocally distanced themselves from his statements and affirmed that such speech has no place in the teachings of Islam.

He also said that the two discussed expanding bilateral trade and enhancing collaboration in the minerals sector. Rubio's remarks come just days after he announced that the US would designate TRF, a front for Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as both a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). The front had claimed responsibility for the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, that left 26 civilians dead. Islamabad had earlier said that the India-Pakistan ties would come up for a discussion during Ishaq Dar's visit to Washington. "Exchange of views will also take place on the Pakistan-India question," Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said on Thursday. The US has time and again claimed credit for brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, a claim New Delhi has denied multiple times, but Islamabad as accepted. "We remain grateful for the role played by the US in de-escalation of tensions leading to ceasefire,' Khan had said, briefing on Ishaq Dar's US visit agenda. India's stance on Pak harbouring terror India has long maintained that the Pakistan government and army is involved in cross-border terrorism, and funds and harbours terrorist groups. Days after the Pahalgam attack and India's Operation Sindoor launched in retaliation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address had said, 'While India believes in tourism, Pakistan considers terrorism as tourism, which is very dangerous for the world." He had also called terrorism a means of making monetary gains for the Pakistan government and army, urging the Pakistani population to fight against terror. The following days saw a big military escalation between India and Pakistan, triggered by the targeting of army bases in India. A ceasefire was announced between both countries on May 10.

New Delhi, Jul 25 (PTI) Prominent Muslim bodies and Islamic scholars on Friday appealed to the government to stand against injustice and take swift action to ensure that the 'continued Israeli aggression" in Gaza ends, asserting that India has historically aligned itself with the oppressed and it is time to reaffirm that legacy. In a joint statement, prominent Muslim organisations and Islamic scholars called on both the Indian government and global powers to intervene and stop the 'continuing atrocities" in Gaza. 'We, the undersigned leaders of Muslim organisations in India, Islamic scholars and peace-loving citizens strongly condemn the deepening genocide and humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza. On behalf of over 200 million Indian Muslims and all peace-loving citizens of our beloved country, we express our unwavering support and solidarity with the people of Palestine," the statement said. 'We appeal to the government of India, international leaders, and people of conscience worldwide to stand against the injustice and take swift action to end the continued Israeli aggression," it said. 'The relentless assault on the Palestinian people has taken the form of a brutal genocide, characterised by systematic destruction of homes, hospitals, schools, and refugee camps. Since October 2023, nearly 100,000 innocent Palestinians, including a significant number of women and children, have lost their lives," the statement claimed. The international community cannot afford to remain silent, it said. 'We call upon all states to sever military and economic ties with Israel and back the UN General Assembly's call to end the illegal occupation. We urge all Muslim-majority nations to put strong pressure on Israel and the US to halt this catastrophe," the statement said. 'India has historically aligned itself with the oppressed; this is the moment to reaffirm that legacy," it asserted. 'We call on the Government of India to honour its long-standing moral and diplomatic tradition by standing firmly with the Palestinian people in their struggle. India must denounce Israel's brutal actions, halt all military and strategic cooperation with it, and actively back global efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region," the statement said.
