COAS asks Kabul to curb Indian proxies on its soil

Listen to article Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir said on Friday that Islamabad sought peaceful and cooperative relations with Afghanistan and warned Kabul against permitting Indian-sponsored terrorist proxies to operate from its soil. Addressing officers of the 52nd Common Training Programme in Islamabad, Field Marshal Asim maintained that Afghanistan was a neighbouring Islamic country but it must act responsibly and curb the influence of hostile forces operating in its territory. "We ask only one thing: do not give space to India's terrorist proxies – Fitna al-Hind and Fitna al-Khawarij," he said. Afghanistan remains a "brotherly, neighbouring Islamic country" but it must act responsibly and curb the influence of hostile forces operating in its territory, he added. He highlighted the crucial role of a transparent and efficient civil bureaucracy in national development, stressing that its service-based structure was indispensable in the state system. He emphasised the need for institutional cohesion and mutual understanding between civil and military leadership. He also highlighted the importance of inter-institutional cooperation and mutual respect in advancing Pakistan's strategic and developmental goals. He expressed his belief that such collaboration between civilian and military sectors would help strengthen Pakistan's position on the global stage. The COAS's remarks underscored the necessity for a capable civil bureaucracy to efficiently manage state affairs and contribute to the country's development. The meeting concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, reflecting a spirit of shared responsibility and collective commitment to Pakistan's progress.

King: Don't exploit Islam for personal, political gain

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim has reminded community leaders not to exploit Islam for personal or political interests. 'This means that government administration must follow the principles of Islamic law (syariah), and not be driven by secular or liberal ideologies. 'Islam is a complete and perfect religion that encompasses all aspects of life. Thus, no one should exploit religion for political party interests or spread slander and hatred that could divide society.' He was speaking at this year's national-level Ma'al Hijrah celebration, themed Membangun Ummah Madani, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre yesterday. Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Tunku Temenggong of Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar. 'I have always emphasised that Islamic preaching platforms and religious teaching arenas should never be used to advance political agendas. 'Let us protect the sanctity of Islam and build a harmonious unity of the ummah, for Islam is a religion of brotherhood and peace.' He said Prophet Muhammad had never used Islam for personal benefit or to oppress anyone. 'We must also make Islam a true way of life through the practice of good manners and noble character, not merely through outward appearances or attire that looks Islamic on the surface. 'I also urge members of the administration and national leadership to emulate the traits of Prophet Muhammad, who was wise, just and never oppressed the weak.' Sultan Ibrahim pointed out that Prophet Muhammad had provided a true model of Islamic governance, citing the example of the Prophet's Hijrah from Mecca to Medina, where he successfully united the city's diverse communities consisting of various tribes and religions. 'Therefore, I call upon all Muslims to understand our responsibility to build a civilisation based on Islamic values and not focus on physical development alone. 'The Hijrah also witnessed how unity among various tribes and religious groups was achieved through a written agreement known as the Constitution of Medina.' He said Malaysia's multi-racial and multi-religious society has also achieved unity through the Federal Constitution, which outlines shared values such as justice, authority, responsibility and consensus. 'Therefore, all parties must respect the Constitution and avoid inciting hostility in the name of race or religion that could threaten national peace.' This year's International Ma'al Hijrah Personality Award was presented to Saudi Arabia's Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dr Tawfig Fawzan Muhammed Al-Rabiah. Datuk Nooh Gadot, the religious adviser to Sultan Iskandar and former Johor mufti, was named the recipient of the 2025 National Ma'al Hijrah Personality Award. Over 8,000 people attended the celebration.

‘Disrespectful and Unacceptable': Iran condemns Trump's remarks on Supreme Leader Khamenei

Iran on Saturday condemned United States President Donald Trump's remarks on Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a day after the latter delivered a victory speech. Trump's remarks on Khamenei came after the latter said that the US President had 'exaggerated events in unusual ways". (IRIB/ AFP Photos) Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi cautioned Trump, saying that if he wishes to reach an understanding with the Supreme Leader, he would need to 'set aside' his tone. 'If President Trump truly wishes to reach an agreement, he should set aside his disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards the Iranian supreme leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, and stop hurting his millions of sincere supporters,' Araghchi said in a post on social media platform X. Trump's remarks on Khamenei came after the latter, in his first speech after the announcement of the ceasefire understanding, said that the US President had 'exaggerated events in unusual ways', while adding that he needed the 'exaggeration' .The Supreme Leader also claimed that the 'the Islamic republic won', and said that this had dealth 'a severe slap to the face of America'. 'I saved him from an ugly and ignominious death' Hours prior to Araghchi's statement, Trump took to Truth Social, saying that he had 'saved' Khamenei from an 'ugly" death. 'I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH,' Trump said in the post. The US President questioned Khamenei's declaration of victory in the war against Israel, asking why the Supreme Leader had 'blatantly and foolishly' said that he won the war. "…when he knows his statement is a lie, it is not so. As a man of great faith, he is not supposed to lie,' Trump said. He said that Iran had been 'decimated', adding that the country's three 'evil nuclear sites' had also been 'obliterated. Trump claimed that he had knowledge of 'exactly' where Khamenei was sheltered, further saying that he had not allowed Israel and the US armed forces to take his life. He also alleged that he had convinced Israel to 'bring back a very large group" of aircraft that it had sent towards Tehran for 'the final knockout'. The US President said that if this had happened, 'tremendous damage' would have ensued, and that many Iranians would have lost their lives. He claimed that it would have been 'the biggest attack' of the war between Israel and Iran. 'Was working on possible removal of sanctions against Iran' In his post, Trump also alleged that he had been working on the possible removal of sanctions against Iran during the last few days. He said that this would have given Iran a much better chance "at a full, fast, and complete recovery'. However, Trump said that he had dropped all work on sanction relief and more after being 'hit' by Khamenei's statement of 'anger, hatred, and disgust'. Trump also cautioned that Iran on getting back 'in the World Order flow', saying things would get worse for them otherwise. 'They are always so angry, hostile, and unhappy, and look at what it has gotten them - A burned out, blown up Country, with no future, a decimated Military, a horrible Economy, and DEATH all around them,' Trump said.
