'Fantastic Four' Star Ioan Gruffudd's Ex-Wife Demands An Increase In Monetary Support For Their Kids
Gruffudd is fighting against her claims and has accused her of embarking on several phony schemes "as a fraudulent way to strong-arm me into paying more support than I can afford."
The "Fantastic Four" actor also accused her of manipulating their children to send him emotionally blackmailing messages parroting her claims, but Alice Evans denied it in a new court filing.
Alice Evans Claims She Has 'Burned Through' Her Savings And Needs More Support From Ioan Gruffudd
Alice Evans' acrimonious divorce battle with her estranged husband, Ioan Gruffudd, has reached a new fever pitch with the actress demanding urgent financial assistance from him to prevent her and their two daughters from becoming homeless.
According to the Daily Mail, the former couple is set to head to court on Wednesday as Evans seeks to secure an upward review of the $4,500 that Gruffudd pays her in child and spousal support each month.
Court documents obtained by the news outlet show that Evans claims she's languishing in poverty and is so broke that she had to borrow money from friends as well as set up a GoFundMe account that raised $18,000 in donations.
She explained that she and her daughters, Ella and Elsie, were evicted from her L.A. home because she couldn't afford the $6,500 per month rent and has had to "burn through" her savings to pay living expenses and legal fees.
Ioan Gruffudd Contends With Alice Evans' Claims
Gruffudd has hit back at her claims in a court filing of his, saying that she "purposely got herself evicted… intentionally ceased paying rent and instead took the children on a vacation trip to Europe."
The "Hornblower" actor stated that his ex-wife did that to "support her false public narrative of financial destitution in an attempt to further harm my reputation," as well as devise a "fraudulent way to strong-arm me into paying more support than I can afford."
He also offered up subpoenaed bank records, which purportedly showed that Evans is far from being broke and made more than $130,000 in 2024 and is expected to earn a similar amount this year, a claim that Evans called "false and misleading."
Ioan Gruffudd Claims Alice Evans Is Manipulating Their Daughters As He Shares Bizarre Text Messages
In the legal document filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Gruffudd explained how he was "mortified" to have received "dozens of stressed messages from our minor children in which they have parroted Alice's false and manufactured claims of becoming homeless in the immediate future."
One message read: "Mummy works very hard and also looks after us 24/7. You are avoiding the issue, which is that you don't want to work. It's not mummy's fault, it's yours. You left us, and now you can't provide for us."
Another said: "You need to get a job daddy. Looking after your girlfriend is not a job. You are a father who has abandoned his children and doesn't see them or talk to them. You don't even send Christmas presents. It's pathetic and everyone sees you."
"Ps, if there is enough money for us never to become homeless, then why aren't you helping us out? You hate mummy more than you love us," the message read.
Alice Evans Denies Manipulating Their Kids
Evans has since denied Gruffudd's claims that she's manipulating their children to send him those disturbing messages.
"I absolutely did not ask the children to send messages to (Gruffudd) about our eviction and pending homelessness," she said, per the Daily Mail.
"The children are well aware of our financial distress and the eviction," Evans added.
The Actress Made A Public Plea For Help, Claiming She And Her Kids Could Become Homeless
Evans had made a public plea for fans to donate funds to her as her financial situation had become "dire" following her divorce from Gruffudd.
In a social media post, she noted that she'd hit "rock bottom" and begged fans for a spare room, explaining that she and her daughters "have nowhere to go."
"I'm so embarrassed about this. If you're here, you know my story. You know how much I struggle to keep my two girls healthy and happy and a roof over their heads," she said. "You know what I've been through. It never ends. I'm just getting squeezed in every which way and smeared in the media so that nobody even wants to employ me."

Dozens of peacocks and peahens believed stolen from Northern California hotel
Dozens of peacocks and peahens known for wandering the grounds of a historic Art Deco hotel in the Sacramento Delta are missing, and the hotel staff said Tuesday they believe the birds were stolen. After a customer at the Ryde Hotel mentioned Sunday seeing two men grabbing one of the birds and putting it inside a cage on the bed of a pickup truck, the staff did a count and realized only four of their exotic birds remained, David Nielsen, the hotel's general manager, said. 'We're not sure why anyone would do anything like this, but the staff is absolutely heartbroken,' Nielsen said. Authorities are investigating the case as a property crime. The male birds are valued at $2,000 each and the peahens at $1,000 each, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesperson at the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. He didn't share any additional information. The owner purchased five of the birds to wander the grounds 14 years ago. They reproduced 'to the point that they became a signature of the hotel,' Nielsen said. Peacocks are common in Art Nouveau design. Staff fed them leftovers of filet mignon, prime rib and salmon, and over time, the birds became tamer. They got used to people, and the employees began seeing them as pets, even naming some of them. Rafe Goorwitch, the hotel's catering coordinator, said he fed a group of about 15 peafowls twice every day. He named the biggest one Alibaba, Baba for short, because he would walk through the hotel like he owned the place. 'I joked with the owner that we worked for Baba because he would walk through the dinner rooms, the ballrooms and the garden with this attitude that he was the boss,' Goorwitch said. Peacocks tend to be aloof, but Baba 'became like a dog,' he said. Since the news about the missing birds became public, people have been calling the hotel with tips and possible sightings, including reports of neighbors with new peacock pets, Nielsen said. Hotel staff are hoping the birds are found and returned home. For now, the hotel has added better and more surveillance cameras, and there are plans to add more fencing. 'They really meant a lot to us,' Nielsen said.

Sports Fans Celebrating Tennis Legend Venus Williams On Tuesday
Sports Fans Celebrating Tennis Legend Venus Williams On Tuesday originally appeared on The Spun. Venus Williams announced this month that she'd compete in the DC Open. The 45-year-old tennis star hasn't competed in a tournament in over a year. Williams kicked off her run at the DC Open with an impressive doubles victory. She teamed up with fellow American tennis star Hailey Baptiste to take down Eugenie Bouchard and Clervie Ngounoue, 6-3, 6-1. "It's just nice to be able to play. Where I am at this year is so much different where I was at last year. It's night and day, being able to be here and prepare for the tournament as opposed to preparing for surgery a year ago," Williams said earlier this month. "At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if your health is not there. So, it definitely put it in perspective for me and maybe made it easier to make the decision to maybe come back out here and maybe play even freer." Just in case a doubles victory wasn't enough to validate Williams' decision to return to competition, she took down Peyton Stearns in a singles match this Tuesday night, 6-3, 6-4. Stearns, the No. 35 ranked player in the world, simply no answer for Williams' power on the hard court. Immediately after Williams upset Stearns on Tuesday, fans showed their support for the seven-time Grand Slam champion. "Venus Williams….the woman that you are," one fan wrote on X. "It's definitely a pleasure to watch Venus Williams play tennis, seriously," a second fan commented. "Venus Williams displaying some incredible tennis tonight. First WTA match in 16 months, 45 years old, and slamming 121mph aces like it's just a regular day. Love to see it," a third fan said. "Venus Williams is 45-years-old and can still do this. Incredible," another person declared. Could this be the start of a career renaissance for Venus? Only time will tell, but she proved to the world that legends can never be counted out. Congratulations to Williams on this incredible Fans Celebrating Tennis Legend Venus Williams On Tuesday first appeared on The Spun on Jul 23, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 23, 2025, where it first appeared.
