🎥 Liverpool new boy lifts the lid on his bizarre pre-season moment

Yahoo4 days ago
Liverpool have taken the summer transfer market by storm in the wake of capturing Premier League honours in 2024/25, with many fans and pundits expecting the Reds to top the table once again in 2025/26.
Arne Slot has watched the club brass open the cheque book in impressive fashion in recent weeks, with the Anfield side adding Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Ármin Pécsi, and Milos Kerkez to the senior ranks on the red half of Merseyside.
Kerkez, 21, has already endeared himself to supporters as he settles to live with the champions since arriving from Bournemouth in a £40m deal, and has impressed in training as well as during the club's 3-1 pre-season win over Preston on 13 July.
Speaking with the club's media, Kerkez jokingly expressed his desire to fight for the shirt and what it means to play for the English giants when quizzed on his bizarre attempt at a tackle against Preston North End.
With many fans anticipating the possibility of the Hungarian international usurping the starting left-back role from Andy Robertson, current evidence suggests that he may not be too far off from doing just that.

Joao Felix leaves Chelsea to join Al-Nassr

Joao Felix has left Chelsea to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr on a permanent deal. The 25-year-old Portugal international moved to Stamford Bridge from Atletico Madrid last summer, having had an earlier spell with the Blues on loan in 2023. He made 20 appearances for Enzo Maresca's side in the first half of the season – but started only three Premier League games – before leaving for AC Milan on loan in January. 'We thank Joao for his efforts across his two spells at the club and wish him well for the future,' Chelsea said in the statement. Felix has signed a two-year contract with his new club. Al-Nassr have reportedly paid an initial £26million transfer fee, although add-ons could see that rise as high as £43million – close to the sum Chelsea paid Atletico for his services last summer. He joins his Portugal team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, who announced his arrival with a short video on social media in which Felix said: 'I am here to spread joy. Let's win together.'

Man City reject £25m transfer bid for in-demand starlet

Man City have reportedly rejected a £25 million transfer bid from Nottingham Forest for James McAtee. The midfielder, who can also play on the wing, has just one year remaining on his contract and has been linked with clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga. Crystal Palace, Borussia Dortmund, Everton, West Ham United and Eintracht Frankfurt are said to interested in signing the 22-year-old, who scored three goals in 15 Premier League appearances last season. He scored another three goals during City's run to the FA Cup final, although he was not involved in either the semi-final win over Forest or defeat to Palace in the final. Man City reject £25m James McAtee transfer bid from Nottingham Forest With McAtee's future up in the air, Forest submitted a bid of £25m, but it was rejected by Man City, according to Sky Sports News. The report adds that the player's representatives have travelled to Germany for 'talks' with Eintracht. McAtee himself reportedly visited the club earlier this month as his exit looms large. The youngster may be seeking guaranteed gametime next season after City signed Rayan Cherki, who will likely compete with him for minutes, from Lyon for an initial transfer fee of £30.45m. The Telegraph previously reported that City value McAtee at around £35m. Any fee that the club receive for the academy graduate would be booked as pure profit under the Premier League's Profit & Sustainability Rules. Meanwhile, Sky Sports News also report that Celtic are 'in talks' to sign Man City centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey. The clubs are 'discussing terms' on a season-long loan deal. A number of English clubs are also 'keen' on the 19-year-old, but City will only entertain loan offers. City have also agreed a loan deal with Hull City for teenage winger Joey Ndala. Alexander Isak: Liverpool have new £165m transfer plan to sign Newcastle striker

Liverpool have devised a new £165million plan to sign Alexander Isak this summer. The Reds confirmed their interest in the Newcastle striker earlier this month, expressing a willingness to open talks over a deal for around £120m. Newcastle promptly told them that Isak is not for sale. However, Isak has now told Newcastle he wants to leave, which has prompted the Magpies to explore deals for Yoane Wissa and Benjamin Sesko. Liverpool are expected to launch their first formal bid for Isak this week, with the £65m sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich freeing up a significant chunk of the required transfer fee. Newcastle have reportedly in private set Isak's asking price at £150m, though it remains to be seen if the striker's transfer request will lower that demand. Isak, arguably the best striker in the Premier League, is expected to cost a British record fee, with a fee of at least £130m expected. Liverpool have already broken the British transfer record this summer with the £116m arrival of Florian Wirtz. In any case, Arne Slot is reportedly prepared to sell three more players to fund a move for Isak. According to ESPN, Liverpool believe they can raise a further £100m by selling three unwanted players. Darwin Nunez continues to attract interest from abroad, while Harvey Elliott is thought to be of interest to a number of Premier League club. Federico Chiesa, a disaster signing from last summer despite his £12.5m cost, is also up for sale and could reportedly return to Italy.
