NIA: No Dalai Lama or Khalistani link in Himachal raid; 2 held in 'Donkey Route' human trafficking case
NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday denied media reports suggesting that its team conducted a raid in McLeodganj, Himachal Pradesh in connection with the security of Dalai Lama or any Khalistani terror financing case on Friday.
In a sharp clarification, the NIA said the search conducted in McLeodganj on Friday was entirely related to an ongoing investigation into a human trafficking case dubbed the 'US Donkey Route' network, a method used to illegally send people to the United States via multiple countries.
"The search had no connection either with HH Dalai Lama or with any case related to Khalistani terrorists, and reports to the contrary in a section of the media are completely false," the agency said in a statement.
Two more traffickers arrested in Friday's raids
Earlier, the NIA confirmed that two accused traffickers were arrested during the searches conducted simultaneously in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.
The accused were identified as Sunny alias Sunny Donker, a resident of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh and Shubham Sandhal alias Deep Hundi, originally from Ropar, Punjab, currently residing in Peeragarhi, Delhi.
Both are reportedly close associates of Gagandeep Singh alias Goldy, a key accused who was earlier arrested in March this year.

The local police were duly informed and accompanied the NIA team during the McLeodganj operation, the agency said.
Rs 45 lakh per victim for illegal entry to US
According to NIA's investigation, the accused charged victims up to Rs 45 lakh each, promising legal entry into the US. Instead, they sent them on perilous journeys across multiple countries including Spain, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Mexico.
Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Tilak Nagar in Delhi, had already been chargesheeted on June 27. He is believed to have trafficked over 100 individuals to the US before his arrest.
The case came to light after a victim was deported from the US back to India earlier this year and filed a complaint with authorities.

‘Lured with toffee, was to be sold to wealthy couple': Gurgaon police rescue 6-year-old boy, arrest 2 for kidnapping him
The Gurgaon police rescued a six-year-old boy and arrested two people, including a woman, for allegedly kidnapping him, a spokesperson for the department said Sunday. The accused will be produced in court on Monday. Identifying the arrested individuals as Shivam and his mother Manoj, the police said the two were arrested from Agra in Uttar Pradesh where they reside in Madhav Vihar Colony. Officers said the mother-son duo confessed that they were planning to sell the boy to a wealthy childless couple for a hefty sum. The case was filed on June 23 after a complaint was registered at the Sector 40 police station in Gurgaon. As per the complaint, the boy was abducted from Kanhai village in Sector 45. The investigation was handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. Following a probe, the police arrested Shivam in Agra on July 2 and rescued the child. Shivam was sent to four day's police custody during which his questioning led investigators to arrest his mother on Saturday. The police said Shivam lured the boy with toffees before abducting him and taking him to Agra, where he was kept with Manoj. Though they planned to sell the boy, the police's intervention thwarted their plans. In August last year, a student of Gurugram University was kidnapped, held captive for seven hours, and robbed, before finally being left on Golf Course Road. The victim, who hailed from Palwal, resided at a paying guest accommodation in Sector 55. He got a call from one of the accused whom he knew through a friend. In his complaint to the police, the student said that when he returned from college in the evening, three individuals forced him into a white XUV 500 and threatened to kill him. The robbers snatched his mobile phone and made transactions amounting to 1.07 lakh, besides taking his gadgets and selling his bike worth Rs 8.5 lakh. The three accused were arrested later and the stolen items recovered.

"One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team": Shivraj Singh Chouhan calls for unified farming strategy at FICCI Maize Summit
New Delhi [India], July 7 (ANI): Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday called for a unified, collaborative approach to agricultural development and said that a national team should be formed under the principle of 'One Nation, One Agriculture' and 'One Agriculture, One Team.' Addressing the 11th Maize Summit organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, '...I wanted to request FICCI to discuss intensively and send me recommendations... We want to create a team for farming. We need to work in different directions, including the state government, central government, scientists, farmers, agricultural universities, and industry.' 'I believe in 'One Nation, One Agriculture,' and 'One Agriculture, One Team.' With everyone's effort, a single team should be formed that works in one direction. Then we can develop rapidly. That's why, when FICCI's recommendations arrive, I will take them seriously. But there should be a win-win situation. Farmers should also benefit...,' said Chouhan. Earlier on Sunday, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the government is preparing a new, stricter law to address the problem of duplicate fertilisers and seeds. He stated that the current law imposes only a small fine of around Rs 500, allowing offenders to escape easily. Speaking to the reporters, Chouhan said, '...We are working on bringing a new law to tackle the issue of duplicate fertilisers, seeds... The law will be strict as the present law is not that strict, but just about a compensation of around Rs 500, and hence those who commit this get released easily.' Earlier, Chouhan held a detailed review meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the State Secretariat in Srinagar, said a statement from the Ministry of Rural Development. Speaking at a press conference later, Chouhan emphasised that a developed Jammu and Kashmir is crucial to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Viksit Bharat'. During the interaction with the media alongside Omar Abdullah, Chouhan noted that agriculture remains the backbone of both the Indian and Jammu and Kashmir economies, with nearly 50 per cent of the population depending on it for livelihood. He praised the state's initiative 'KisanKhidmatGhar' -- a one-stop center providing farmers access to all agricultural services under one expressed satisfaction with the variety of horticulture crops grown in the region, such as apples, almonds, and walnuts. However, he also raised a critical issue, imported plant materials often turn out to be infected after two or three years.
