‘I tried out a pair of 'pyjama jeans' and now I can't go back to regular denim'

Daily Mirror20 hours ago
Mirror's shopping writer Grace put a pair of "pyjama jeans" from a Taylor Swift-approved viral brand to the test to see if they could live up to proper denim
Denim is easily the most-worn fabric in my wardrobe, especially through spring and summer. I love a good pair of jeans and am forever searching for the perfect fit. Even though I reach for them almost daily, I've been finding them increasingly uncomfortable lately. However, I'm still not ready to give them up.
I tested out a pair of"pyjama jeans" from River Island earlier this year, and couldn't believe just how comfy they were. And now I've found another pair that are potentially even comfier, while still looking like a normal pair of denim jeans.
The style in question are the Halara Flex™ Asymmetric Low Rise Baggy Wide Leg Jeans, currently on sale for £39.95 down from £58.95. I hadn't heard too much about this brand before trying them out, but they actually have the Taylor Swift seal of approval.
Taylor Swift made her first Coachella appearance in six years with her beau Travis Kelce in 2024 and was spotted wearing a TikTok viral £40 skirt. The Breezeful™ High Waisted Pleated 2-in-1 Side Pocket Skirt from Halara gained a huge cult following on TikTok last year thanks to its unusual garter detail.
The brand is mostly known for its activewear and loungewear, so it's no suprise to seem them branching out into denim while keeping comfort at the forefront.
When I first opened up the asymmetric jeans, I was a little skeptical as they felt so soft and stretchy, just like a pair of jogging bottoms, and so I was unsure if they would even look like jeans on.
However, as I soon as I slipped into them I had my mind changed. They honestly looked just as good as other denim pieces I own, but felt ten times comfier.
I also appreciated the asymmetric button detailing, as previous pyjama-style denim I've tried have kept it pretty simple with design details. But Halara has so many trendy styles to choose from in the Flex Range, from cargo-style jeans to maxi skirts and trendy corset waistcoats.
My only criticims would be that the inside and outside button feel a little flimsy, like they could ping off easily. Despite this, however, I have worn the jeans multiple times and all buttons are still in tact.
If you want to test out the OG "sweatpant jeans" Rag and Bone's Miramar Wide-Leg Jeans are available to shop on Selfridge's for £195. Alternatively, New Look has some Blue Drawstring Waist Denim Trousers for £26.99 that feel as comfy as trousers but have a denim-effect.

Oasis fans say gig-goer 'didn't deserve' tickets as they spot phone behaviour

An Oasis fan who attended the opening night of their reunion tour in Cardiff has been criticised online after she was caught searching up a hit song on her phone As Oasis fans around the world who were unsuccessful in getting tickets to their Live '25 tour enviously watch the much-anticipated reunion gigs kick off in Cardiff on Friday (July 4), one fan who was in attendance was criticised for not knowing one of the biggest hits of the 90s. Liam and Noel Gallagher treated Oasis fans at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on both Friday and Saturday (July 5) to a setlist full of smash hits including Wonderwall, Supersonic, and Don't Look Back in Anger. They were supported by Cast and Richard Ashcroft, who were tasked with warming the audience up before the brothers took to the stage for the first time in 16 years. ‌ But one fan in the crowd was caught on camera having to use the app Shazam to find out what a hugely popular hit from the 90s actually was - leaving some furious commenters on social media wondering why she bought a ticket. ‌ A TikTok account dedicated to both Oasis and Richard Ashcroft shared a video of The Verve frontman performing the band's biggest hit, Bitter Sweet Symphony, during the opening night of the tour on Friday. The video then pans across the crowd, most of whom were singing along to the well-known track, before settling on one woman who had the Shazam app open on her phone. Shazam can tell you the name of a song just by listening to it and is widely used by people to find details about tracks playing in shops or even on adverts. But social media users were left baffled at the woman's apparent lack of knowledge of the 1997 hit, especially given her presence at an Oasis gig. Several even referred to Bitter Sweet Symphony as so well-known that it should be the "national anthem" of the UK. The TikTok account wrote on the video: "Did they just Shazam the national anthem?" And they added in the caption: "Imagine not knowing the greatest song of all time." ‌ Most commenters were in agreement, with many disgruntled fans claiming they "deserved" tickets to the sold-out shows more than others who don't know the words to some of the biggest tracks performed on the night. One person said: "There's no way I lost tickets to someone Shazaming one of the most popular songs of the Britpop era." ‌ Another added: "How are you going to an Oasis gig not knowing Bitter Sweet Symphony?" Even the official Jedward account posted: "If you don't know Bitter Sweet Symphony, we can't be friends." But others were on the woman's side, pointing out that she bought tickets to see Oasis and shouldn't be expected to know the support acts, no matter how famous other people might think they are. ‌ Someone pointed out: "Concerts were originally made for people to discover new music, not for die-hard fans who know every song; this is actually really valid of her." Another declared: "Going to a concert and not knowing all of the songs is normal, calm down." Meanwhile, Oasis fans were left "heartbroken" after the band's 23-song setlist in Cardiff this weekend, as one fan-favourite track was missing from the running order.

Harper Beckham 'heartbroken' as brother Brooklyn set to miss her 14th birthday amidst family feud

Brooklyn Beckham is expected to be absent from his younger sister Harper's 14th birthday celebrations on Thursday. Festivities are beckoning in the Beckham household this week, although it seems that one member might be conspicuously absent from the celebrations. As Harper, the youngest of David and Victoria Beckham's children, turns 14 on Thursday, murmurs of the intensifying family rift suggest Brooklyn may once again skip the celebrations. Rumblings of discord between Brooklyn, his wife Nicola Peltz, and his renowned parents began stirring in the wake of Brooklyn and Nicola's lavish nuptials in 2022, and there seems to be no resolution in sight. ‌ The 26-year-old has been seen revelling in his father-in-law's birthday – lauded by Nicola as the "most loving father" – but notably was away for David's own glitzy 50th celebration at Core, a restaurant in London's Notting Hill. ‌ A source close to the Beckhams told the Mirror about the fallout of the spat, highlighting how Brooklyn's once-warm relationship with his siblings, birthday girl Harper included, has been inadvertently tarnished. According to the source: "Harper's been particularly affected by what's going on because she's always been really close to Brooklyn. They've always had a lovely bond because Brooklyn was that bit older when Harper was born and the hope when Brooklyn married Nicola was that she'd become like a big sister to Harper in a house full of brothers." "But obviously that hasn't happened and it's potentially going to be heart-breaking for Harper if Brooklyn doesn't show up for her on her birthday." While Brooklyn and his model and actress spouse celebrated financier Nelson Peltz's 83rd birthday with Nicola's family in Bedford, New York, Victoria, aged 51, and David, who's 50, remained in the UK. Nicola, aged 30, later shared a photo on her social media featuring herself with her father and Brooklyn, alongside a heartfelt tribute to Nelson which read, "I am so lucky to be your daughter, you're the most loving and supportive father I could ever dream of... Thank you for always being there for us – our constant love and support." ‌ Should Brooklyn overlook his younger sister's birthday, it would add to a series of family gatherings that have yet to mend the Beckham family divide. Having missed David's pre-birthday festivities in the Cotswolds and Paris, Brooklyn and Nicola were also notably absent from his lavish dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant in West London. David's celebration was graced by some of his dearest celebrity friends, including Tom Cruise and Eva Longoria, with a special performance by his son Cruz, 20, on guitar, while Romeo, 22, had the honour of presenting David's cake. ‌ Considering Brooklyn didn't mark his dad's significant day on any social media platforms, insiders suggest the likelihood of him "showing up for Harper" seems quite doubtful. "A teenage birthday is a big deal for any child and in the past they've always tried to do things together as a family," the insider said. ‌ "Victoria would like nothing more than for Brooklyn to show up to celebrate with them all, but it's not looking likely at all. He took a stand and missed his dad's 50th so he's not likely to suddenly do a U-turn and forget everything that's happened, as much as he loves Harper. But if he did, it could be a much-needed olive branch to start repairing things. An end to the family drama would be the best birthday present Harper – and her parents – could ask for." The Beckhams have been sharing plenty of family love on their social media, yet Brooklyn has notably refrained from extending this affection towards his own folks. He seemed to exacerbate tensions by honouring Nelson with a birthday post, conspicuously ignoring his father's milestone. ‌ Brooklyn last month celebrated the five-year anniversary of his engagement to Nicola, proclaiming it his "best decision ever". The source suggested that Brooklyn's allegiance appears to have shifted away from his family, which isn't shocking considering his marital status. "He didn't want it to turn out this way and he's always been really close to all his siblings, but he is a married man now and his priorities have to lie somewhere else," the insider disclosed. "He just doesn't feel his family have treated Nicola well and now that he's grown so close to her family in the States, he doesn't really feel like he fits into the Beckham family right now. If Harper's wish is to have her brother at home for her big day, sadly, she's probably going to be disappointed." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
